When I bought this book I thought it was a picture book for smaller kids, but I'm quite surprised and noticed that it's actually for older kids! This book is really wonderful, the illustrations are really pretty. I highly recommend it if you have kids at around the age of 10 who love to learn. :)

“Bones - Knochen und Skelette in der Tierwelt” von Jules Howard ist ein Sachbuch für Kinder ab 9 Jahren, ich finde aber begleitet ist es auch für jüngere Kinder ab 6 durchaus verständlich.
Das Cover gibt bereits einen Vorgeschmack auf den Inhalt, denn in großen Illustrationen werden die verschiedensten Tiere und bemerkenswerte anatomische Details sowohl am “fertigen” Tier als auch auf das Skelett reduziert erklärt, z.B. Klauen, Zähne, Flügel. Auch auf Unterschiede zwischen Säugetieren, Vögeln, Amphibien etc. wird eingegangen und unterschiedliche Lebensräume beleuchtet, z.B. wie verschiedene Wasserbewohner ihren Körper zum Schwimmen und jagen nutzen. Toll finde ich auch das Glossar am Ende des Buches, in dem wichtige Begriffe noch einmal nachgeschlagen werden können.
Die Texte sind einfach verständlich und dennoch ausführlich und informativ. Für mich ein rundum gelungenes Buch, in dem auch Erwachsene noch einiges lernen können.

Each section discusses why certain animals specialize in a skill and provide an illustration of the animal’s skeleton.

I loved this book! I learned so many things about famous animals and not-so famous creatures. I loved the detail in explaining the makeup of the animal’s skeleton while maintaining my interest. It is a great book for animal and science lovers. You are guaranteed to learn something new as you explore the animal kingdom with this book.

Es un libro muy bonito de un tema inusual, que me habría gustado tener en mi infancia.

Las ilustraciones me gustaron, el texto es sencillo pero contiene información interesante que explica muy bien las variaciones específicas en diferentes tipos de esqueletos y como éstas se asimilan a otros animales o son particulares a ciertos grupos según características evolutivas específicas.

My friend got me this book bc apparently I talk abt gideon the ninth a lot lol. Anyway it's super fun and informative and beautiful, like an episode of Nature. Bones!
