What do you do when everything you have been raised to believe is ripped away? When your entire life's been shown to be a lie?

For Cerena Lightmoon, she fights.

But now the odds against her are longer than ever. Entrusted with a desperate mission to prevent Hell on Earth, all she can depend on is her training, her skills, her swords, and her men.

With her companions and lovers Tym, Lance, and Brandon, she takes on the world. Whether it's vampires, werewolves, or something darker, none have stood before her flashing twin swords and defeated her.

This time though, she's facing odds that are longer than ever.

The war has come. The only question left is who lives, and who dies... and who faces a fate worse than death.

Elizabeth Hartwell is the fantasy pen name for a Wall Street Journal and USA TODAY bestselling contemporary romance author, who lives between fantastical worlds.

Elizabeth started out writing paranormal romance, so it's only fitting for her to make her return to the genre with her new Guardians of The Fae series.

When she's not off battling creatures of the night you can find her writing about her adventures, or arguing with her evil step-mother.

Elizabeth writes about love and all things crazy. Vampires, werewolves, witches, the undead--you name it!

She warmly welcomes you into the worlds she inhabits, but beware, they're not for the faint of heart!

I was hoping this book would shed more light on the romance and how the relationships would play out. Do they care about their circumstance, etc.? Buuut the way the book starts kind of showed me we were just going to skip over that. That doesn't lead well for other aspects that I thought weren't explained as well as I wanted them to be.

The setting, characters, and plot are interesting though, so I won't dissuade anyone from reading this one.

While this is still very sexual at times, we now have a little more plot to go with it and the corresponding emotions.
This was better than book 1 and I felt myself connect more to the characters and caring more about what happened to them.

They have been through so much in both the first book & this one.

We found out about the wolfs attacking where the female elder as and killed her so now the hunters were waking up the elder who was like a father to our girl, well until she found out that he was in on the death of her parents.

We find out the origin story of how the wolves were created & have a fight.

They go on the run, then fine a girl who is also a decent of light so they need to protect her.

They discover new gifts & things about themselves. They grow as individuals & together as a family. Lots of great spice! 🥵

There’s another big battle this time with her father like figure and the wolves.

They are told that a war is coming including the gods.

Interesting

With 3 in her harem, she is badass. I like the demigods? Not sure if that is what they would be. I feel this story unique in its rendition of gods and supernaturals. A few grammatical errors. I noticed twice story errors. One was one of her men had no shirt on, but two sentences later she is sliding her hand under that shirt. Oops. The world and the after apocalypse is pretty interesting as well. It just felt new.

As the gods contemplate a way to co-exist with Bane the god of darkness, it seems neither party can come to a solution.
Cerena has been preparing her whole life for battle. Even so, she never expected the possibility of Hell taking over the Earth.
After learning the real truth about gods and mythical, otherworldly creatures, Cerena must focus on saving her team and defeating Bane and his soldiers. Cerena and her team, Tym, Lance and Brandon, are fugitives far from Solace, now residing in the North.
Tym is a descendant of Tyr - god of War. Lance is a descendant of the trickster Loki, god of Chaos and Freedom. Brandon is the seventh son of the dark god, Bane. Brandon also possess light powers, which are in constant struggle with his dark powers. Cerena, The Huntress, is the seventh daughter of the Light goddess, Sulis.
Long standing rules have been broken. Lives, both good and bad, have been taken. As a result, Cerena and her team are now the hunted.
After fleeing Bane and his followers, Cerena has given Bane no other choice. He must capture her team or he must find a new vessel for his evil to flow.
On the run, evading capture, Cerena and her men continue the fight to stop these evil forces. Soon they are being hunted by her peers and other paras. It seems Bane isn't the only evil pursuing Cerena and her team. If only they knew which was the lesser of these evils.
