The Modern Guide for Today's Blackjack Card Counters
The game of 21 has changed over the last 50 years in the casinos’ attempt to discourage card counters, but blackjack remains beatable for those who are focused, steadfast, and willing to do what it takes in order to play to win. Author Colin Jones leads the way for those interested in beating today’s game.
Before the explosion of casino gambling in the 1990s, card counters were limited in the number of places they could play. They tended to be concerned with longevity at the expense of optimal playing and betting strategies and they feared exposure. But the modern-day card counter has adapted to the new environment, eschewing fear and evasion in favor of meeting the game head on.
The 21st-Century Card Counter is a highly authoritative guide to how you should think about card counting in the current casino environment. Written by a blackjack pro who founded the infamous Church Team, manages the Blackjack Apprenticeship website, leads Blackjack Bootcamps, and has earned his livelihood beating the casinos for more than two decades, this book offers new and unique information and advice, as well as real-life stories and interviews with current advantage players, to help you have the best chance at crushing casinos in today’s blackjack world.
Might be a decent starting point for those that are interested in card counting. For myself, there wasn't much new here and I felt that the author wrote the book more to plug his training website, podcast and in-person training 'bootcamp'.
This was a nice overview of card counting. It is nowhere near as in depth or precise as the other ones that have been published. It's main value comes from its tips on blackjack lifestyle and general tips and tricks more than on actually card counting
It's okay.. 4 stars..not enough real training. Interesting book in general mixed with different pieces of information, interviews of players but I'd expect more player guides, tables and other info from such a book
I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to learning more about being a card counter. Very informative. Colin does a great job explaining what it takes and what to expect if you want to be a successful advantage player.
Colin has the best book for the most people when it comes to counting. It doesn’t get overly into the math or things that aren’t very important. He tells you what you need to know and why. Great book
If you’re serious about about Blackjack, then this is the one book you need to read this year. It’s not just about counting cards. It’s about the lifestyle and the benefits that go with it.
This book was first and foremost an advertisement for the author's online program for counting cards. Though it had some valuable information, it was mostly reiterations of the information that is openly available on the blackjack apprenticeship YouTube channel, blog, and podcast. If you are interested in this information, it would be better to just use the resources that are freely available.
Loved the style that Collin uses. It feels comfortable and conversational. Though, I’m not one that is faint when it comes to “mathy” subjects, the way these basics are laid out can help anyone in their quest for a perfect game. Well done, Mr. Jones!
