Jeremy Camp became a GRAMMY®-nominated singer and songwriter, released four gold albums, and received two American Music Awards nominations.
While on a three-month-long tour, Jeremy met and built a friendship with the lead singer of another band. In a beautiful and inspiring story their love unfolded taking them both by surprise. After 16 years of marriage, Jeremy and Adrienne have experienced devastating losses and incredible joy, and have grown alongside each other. They continue to build a friendship as they juggle life and frequent separations, due to tour schedules, with the demands and stressors of parenting their three kids.
In Unison is the story of the lessons they’ve learned in love and marriage told from each of their voices. They vulnerably share the highs and lows of life together and offer practical advice for how to deal with conflict, manage finances, move through grief, and work to build your own family culture. You can’t do marriage without Jesus, and when you keep Him in the middle, together, you can build a lasting love.
Jeremy Camp, one of the leading artists on the contemporary Christian music scene, has gained a sizable fan following for his passionate, well-crafted rock songs and heartfelt testimonies of faith in spite of life’s obstacles. He is a Grammy Award winner and a two-time American Music Award–nominated artist with a stellar career, having established himself with multiple successful albums, no. 1 songs, Dove Awards, and three ASCAP Songwriter of the Year wins. Jeremy is a key performer at the Extraordinary Women events and is also an ordained minister and a Compassion International artist. He lives in Franklin, Tennessee, with his wife, Adie, their two daughters, and their son.
It took me a long time to find my way to God. But after I did, I had the most amazing experience and pleasure of bringing my 13-year-old daughter to a Jeremy Camp concert. I witnessed his passion for God, his music, and the way he talked so sincerely about his family. I immediately fell in love with his music and his story and found myself wanting to know more. In my search, I received an email about becoming part of this unique launch team to help spread the word about a book that Jeremy and his wife, Adrienne wrote about their marriage. I wondered, “Who is the woman that walks beside Jeremy Camp?” I was so blessed to get picked as a member of their launch team and receive a copy of the book “In Unison The Unfinished Story of Jeremy and Adrienne Camp”. As I read, I found myself wanting to know more about Adrienne. The strong, fierce, beautiful, bold woman who also loves Jesus, music and her family so much. Adrienne and Jeremy were so open and transparent throughout the entire book. They are not trying to portray a perfect marriage; they are trying to portray a human marriage seeking God’s grace in all aspects and putting him at the center of who they are and what binds them together. This book is real and raw and truthful. “If we love only those, we deem worthy of it, every one of us would go without. But if we entrust our abilities to love each other to the Lord first, then based on His supernatural character at work in us, we can learn to love above our human capacity.” I want to learn how to love above my human capacity and I hope the rest of the world does too! This will not be just another book for you to read. It’s an experience and a glimmer of hope and empowerment as you flow through Jeremy and Adie’s journey together as they share their joy, hurt, pain, celebrations, successes and trials right from their hearts. Order your copy now. You will use it over and over.
I highly recommend this book. I would call this a marriage book however in my opinion it would also be ideal for an engaged couple or even if single searching to be in a Jesus filled relationship. I enjoyed discovering their unfinished story. Jeremy and Adrienne included insightful, encouraging and practical advice of what worked for them while being transparent in sharing some of their own struggles. (I especially loved the daily prayer guide) They are both firm in their belief that..."It's impossible to have a healthy marriage without Jesus in the center of it all."
As I read through this book, it was like I was sitting in a living room having a deep conversation with Jeremy and Adrienne about marriage. In this book they open their hearts and lives to us in a raw and transparent way. They talk about the struggles and challenges that come with marriage but also the beauty and importance of keeping Christ the center of your relationship. This is not only a book for married couples but is also a book for all stages of life. Are you single, dating, engaged, married, or divorced? This book is for you! You will be blessed by this book and will walk away with your relationship enriched. Jeremy and Adrienne took time to invest in our relationships, I hope you will spend a little amount of money on this book and invest in your relationship also. You will get a good return on your investment.
Hooray for books. You know, the kind you can actually feel in your hands and smell, hot off the press! In Unison is one of the best biographical books on marriage I’ve ever read. I recently read another great book written by a young couple sharing their own nuggets of wisdom along with their triumphs and blunders in marriage, and before starting In Unison, I wondered how it would compare. All I can say is, “wow!” I feel a greater maturity laced through this book along with a deeper God connection. He is everywhere from the first to the last page as Jeremy and Adie constantly point to Him. I am so grateful for their openness and vulnerability. It’s priceless. So insightful, vulnerable, relatable and laced with Biblical truths. Now that the hard copy has arrived, it’s going on my husband’s nightstand next! Mandatory reading!!!
Reading this book was like listening to good friends share their hearts. It caused me to laugh, cry, and reflect. Although my husband and I have been very happily married for decades, I feel like their wisdom opened my eyes in a few key areas. This book would be a blessing to newlyweds, grandparents and everyone in-between. I will be buying copies as gifts. Adrienne and Jeremy were open, honest and transparent as they wrote about their marriage journey. I truly believe that everyone who reads "In Unison: The Unfinished Story of Jeremy and Adrienne Camp" will find nuggets of gold that will enhance their marriage/relationships/friendships. Blessings to the Camps for all they do to make our world a better place.
Jeremy and Adrienne are so honest, down to earth, and give such great advice in this new book! Putting Jesus first in your marriage truly makes all the difference. And although it’s always the right time to invest in your marriage, now is especially the perfect time to read this book while under quarantine with your spouse! I highly recommend In Unison to engaged couples as well, as it will help you put things in perspective before tying the knot.
My husband and I enjoyed reading this book together. It was so fun and interesting, we couldn't put the book down and read it in just a matter of days! They have great stories and very helpful advice. From their tips and tricks, to their own personal stories of their own relationship, it is sound advice to keep your own relationship in unison. Definitely a must read for anyone!
It is a great book. They are without a doubt vulnerable. Jeremy and Adrienne Camp give you valuable insight into their marriage but how to also navigate your relationship or marriage as a team. They also share Scripture that is important to them, but can also be implemented in your own relationship or marriage. I must add that their love for Jesus is first and foremost. They are in unison in my opinion, and they also share that life is always roses.
Thank you, Jeremy and Adrienne, for such an honest, real, deep look into your lives and your marriage. You have lots of wise advice! This book would be great for young couples preparing for marriage, but is also enjoyable for anyone who likes reading about people with strong faith and a close relationship with God. I liked it a lot.
In this heartfelt, honest, and hopeful book, Jeremy and Adrienne Camp share stories from their years of marriage and lessons they've learned along the way. Their warm and welcoming writing style draws readers in and makes them feel at home. (The gorgeous formatting also adds a fun touch.) They share candid snapshots of their own struggles, relentlessly reminding readers that marriage isn't the fairy tale it's often portrayed to be. But it is part of a grander story authored by God.
Helping couples recapture a Christ-centered vision of marriage is the heart of the reason why Jeremy and Adrienne wrote this book, and it shows. Whether you're married or single, I would definitely recommend reading this book.
Interesting to read their story. However, the marriage parts don't offer new insights, it's a mosaic of other (and better) books. It was nice as a reminder of some of the insights, guess I just hoped for more depth. Their personal stories, adventures and experiencies, shared in a vulnerable and honest way, helped to continue reading.
Also, I must admit that sometimes I missed humour and a light touch. It was all very serious and heavy. A good laugh and fun times are important in a marriage and family life as well.
Worth the read, but I don't see myself picking it up again.
I enjoyed reading Jeremy Camp's I Still Believe Memoir after seeing the movie by the same title earlier this year so I thought I'd check this one out to hear more of his continuing story. I also wanted to learn more about his wife Adrienne. While I did learn some things about their life together and Adrienne this book was more of a marriage and parenting advice book than a story about their lives.
It is clear that the Camps are committed Christians who are dedicated to loving Jesus about all else and keeping their vows and working through the challenges in their marriage. And they have a heart to encourage others to do the same. I think that was the intent of this book.
So, while I did learn some things about their life together and Adrienne this book was more of a marriage and parenting advice book than a story about their lives. There was good advice throughout the book but, for me, there wasn't much I haven't read or heard before. Some of their admonitions were re-emphasized repeatedly and the redundancy took away from the book. I would have enjoyed hearing more stories, like some light-hearted and fun stories. The tone of the book is heavy and at times a little preachy, which isn't bad if you're looking for marital or parenting advice. But if you're looking to get to know Camps better as people, you may be a bit disappointed. I hate sounding critical about this book as I like what little I have learned about them. They are committed Christians who are worth imitating, especially in the area of marriage.
I have been a huge Jeremy Camp fan since 2004 when my then teenage son introduced me to his music. The messages in his music have been a huge inspiration to me and I sought to know more about the man behind the music. In my quest in learning more about his life, I read of his first marriage to his wife Melissa and her tragic passing just a few months after they were married and then of his new marriage to Adie. I have read Jeremy's book "I Still Believe" which is truly inspirational and was so blessed when I learned of a book launch group for the new book "In Unison" that Jeremy wrote with his beautiful wife Adie. I was more than excited to get to be chosen to be on this team. I read this book in one sitting, I could not put it down. I have been married for 35 years and gleaned inspiration and help myself as I read through the book. They are truly transparent about not just the ups, but also the struggles that they have encountered along the way. It was really refreshing to read a book on marriage that displayed a real life marriage not just a perfect picture. I laughed and cried and thought how I wished I had read this before I was married. This inspirational quotes and scriptures throughout the book are incredible. I would recommend this to anyone no matter how long you have been married, are planning to get married or singles who just want a closer walk with the Lord and better relationships with others. If I could give this book 10 stars I would!
This is a MUST READ for all people wanting to be married, engaged to be married, newly married, or been married for years!! Jeremy and Adrienne share the realness and rawness of marriage along with the beauty it entails when Christ is front and center. They are truly an inspiration to me! I personally feel connected the book and the authors because our family went through a tragedy like Jeremy and his first wife, Melissa in I Still Believe. Reading about how Jeremy and Adrienne met, courted, and discussed hard topics of grief and loss early on displays and models how the Lord is faithful and does heal the broken-hearted. Jeremy and Adrienne’s practical tips, advice, stories and prayers exemplify what marriage is about and how to keep God number one. I couldn’t put the book down! I laughed and cried with them as they took me through their journey together. I found myself in Adrienne shoes at times, and then I made notes to pray certain prayers over my husband as she did and still does over Jeremy. I hope this book gets in as many hands as possible to be real life examples of keeping Christ center in marriage and living by His standards in our fallen world that brings us closer to God and to our spouse. I feel inspired to pray over my marriage and for my husband in ways I hadn’t thought about before until reading this book!
Reading In Unison is like sitting with Jeremy and Adrienne over coffee while they share their hearts about life and marriage. It is full of wisdom and helpful tips they've learned in their 16 years of marriage- practical advice from a variety of topical experts on allll the things we go through while married. Both Jeremy and Adrienne are incredibly raw and vulnerable, not at all giving the impression that they've figured it all out. Instead, they recognize that the only hope for their marriage is to have Christ at the center, as He's the only one who can fill their hearts with humility, grace, mercy, and love for one another, no matter the ups and downs they go through. This is a fantastic and helpful book- not only for married couples, but a MUST READ for couples who are engaged and anyone who'd like to be married one day!
If you don't already know Jeremy and Adrienne Camp, they will feel like old friends after reading this book. They have the unique ability to make their readers feel the problems they experience in their marriages are completely normal by relating in often humorous ways. I felt encouraged and inspired, as if talking to friends, instead of feeling preached at with a "do" and "don't" list. They have great perspective and fresh ideas for strengthening your marriage, all the while emphasizing the importance of having the Lord central in your life. Many of the ideas in this book can be applied to all of your relationships in life . This was a very enjoyable read that caused healthy moments of reflection.
I read this in one day. I could not put it down. I purchased the audio thinking initially it was Jeremy and Adrienne. I listened and read at the same time. Today I was sad, discouraged and dismayed that the evil in this world seemed to be winning. The truth in these pages kept my focus on the Lord. I even took time to listen to some YouTube music videos and interviews about this book. I ended up buying the worship project cd and I still believe movie. Before today Jeremy Camp was only a name to me. The transparency in these stories make me feel like we attend the same small group. Thank you so much. The Lord used you both to lift my head and focus on Him, my help in time of trouble.
This book is the best marriage book I have read....not only does it address striving for Godly marriages, it also addresses Godly families and Godly lives. Jeremy and Adrienne are completely transparent and vulnerable. It is not a text book of rules, it is more like .pieces of a journal...the good, the bad and the ugly....and how what they learned about the way God sees them as individuals and a couple and a family......I loved the prayers....I will read it again and I will purchase it for wedding gifts. I am appreciative of the authors sharing raw reality with strangers, because they honestly care about those strangers....I LOVED THE BOOK....5 star.....
This was the first marriage book that I have ever completed. It was so engaging that I read it fully in 2 sessions. The reading was easy, more like being talked to rather than preached at. Rather than focusing only on Jeremy and Adrienne, it makes Christ the center of our marriages. Using their experiences (positive and negative) to provide examples for us to use to strengthen our marriages. I definitely recommend this not only to married couples, but also those considering marriage. I plan to read this book again.
I loved this book so much!! If you want a look into Jeremy and Adie Camp’s marriage and how it all began and the journey since, with some wonderful, practical biblical tips on marriage woven in, this is a fantastic read!! I found it so hard to put it down, I related to so many of their stories and I love how open and real they are. I pray that my husband will read through it with me the 2nd time around. We definitely have some things, unfortunately some of which are pretty difficult, to work on. Thank you Jeremy and Adie for being so inspirational and sharing your good, bad and ugly with us. I really appreciate the quotations and bible verses scattered throughout, the reminders that I so need to hear and remember every single day.
5 stars to Jeremy and Adrienne came for this honest testimony about faith, marriage, and family life. It was such a joy to see a window into their honest, raw stories of finding a rhythm in their marriage together, never claiming to have it all together like so many "celebrity" couples do. Each chapter was cram packed with practical advice straight from the Bible on how God guides our life, heart, and fellowship with our spouse. I also enjoyed the book design (very pretty inside) and it broke up the chapters, making it feel like a quick read!
Jeremy and Adrienne give you a very open and honest snap shots into there marriage, this book is not just for married couples as a single young women the book gives you biblical truths you can use when communicating with your family and friends as well as having skills to apply for marriage in the future the book also taught me things about myself i need to change with God's grace and guidance A must read.highly recommended 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This book is so good! Jeremy and Adrienne are authentic, transparent, and honest. I love the way they point couples to Christ as their ultimate guidance in marriage. Their commitment to each other and their family despite being in the spotlight is encouraging and humbling. They are the real deal! They shared numerous stories from their own marriage about the struggle and hard work it takes to be and stay married. So glad I read this!
There were so many nuggets of wisdom in this book. I took so many notes. Would definitely recommend if you are single, dating or married. I loved how God brought them together and that they were from different cultures.
Favorite lines:
A true relationship is when two people stick around to see the commitment.
Enjoy enjoying each other.
Putting someone else’s needs above your own builds trust
I would definitely recommend if you are looking for encouragement.
So, there are several places in this book where the audio skips and you miss a word or two. They really should work on that, especially for such a deep book.
Being a pagan, I still found this book to be an inspiration for my own relationship. Even though my love and I aren't married yet. there are things that this book has taught me, as well as things my love and I have already adopted that came from this book. Definitely worth the read!
I did find this book to be an interesting read given the history Jeremy Camp had before his second marriage. I also enjoyed how they showcase that they are just like everyone else and have issues to work through. They offer some advice and tips that worked for them. I listened to the audio book version of this book which is narrated by both Jeremy and Adrienne. I liked hearing it personally from them and would probably recommend listening to it over reading it.
I’ve read my fair share of marriage books, but In Unison is different! Jeremy and Adrienne’s transparency and authenticity is apparent in each chapter. It is a fast paced read and I love all the photos and journal entries they included. I felt as if I was listening to dear friends share their marriage trials and triumphs with me. I will definitely be sharing the book with friends and family!
This must read book written by Jeremy and Adrienne camp can't easily be sat down. You will want to read it all in one sitting. Their transparent advice about their own marriage and how to apply it to your own marriage is invaluable. Their insight on how to keep a marriage together with God in the middle will ensure you are truly in unison with a long lasting marriage.
