King of Lincoln Park by Martha Kennerson is book seven of the nine book Kings of the Castle series by various female authors. Book one, Kings of the Castle is an introduction to all of the Kings, with emphasis on Vikkas Germaine. Books two through nine are standalones with no cliffhangers and can be read in any order, though I’m reading them in sequence.

Nine former students of Khalil Germaine, now Kings of The Castle, are recruited by their mentor to root out and eliminate the corruption that has infiltrated The Castle, initially a humanitarian endeavor. They vow to protect The Castle and each other from future attacks, while searching for the person or persons responsible for the attempted assassination of their mentor, Khalil, and his son, Vikkas. Along the way they meet some extraordinary women. This is Grant Khambrel’s story.

Grant Khambrel, commercial architect and owner of a successful construction company, has been awarded a very lucrative contract to renovate and expand Chicago’s United Center. Unfortunately, Grant is being blackmailed for something he didn’t do and must discover the identity of the blackmailer before both his professional and personal reputations are ruined. Once he outs the blackmailer he can devote all of his attention to winning the affections of Autumn Knight, the woman he’s known was his as soon as he laid eyes on her.

Autumn Knight is the Administrative Director at the United Center. She’s been unable to forget the Adonis that she locked eyes with once before, but had never met. Now he’s the architect and contractor for the Center’s renovation project, which means they’re in constant contact. Autumn has never had a serious relationship, but she’s at risk of becoming Grant Khambrel’s permanent love interest.

King of Lincoln Park is another strong installment in the Kings of the Castle series. The author keeps the focus on her primary characters, Grant and Autumn, amping the tension between the two. The plot is perfectly suspenseful, keeping the reader involved and guessing.

As with the previous books in this series, I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. This is the perfect book for anyone who enjoys multicultural romantic suspense or well-written contemporary romance. There is some explicit sexual content that may be offensive to some readers.

My thanks to Independent Publishers Group and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

With the new series Knights of the Castle being released, I figured I should get back into reading the few remaining books I have in the Kings of the Castle series. This time we are traveling to the Lincoln Park jurisdiction where we meet our allocated King - Grant Khambrel. Grant is our architect and construction guru of the team, anything building or property needs he is your guy. As like the other Kings having to go up against bad guys, Grant is up against Alderman Knight who is still stewing about the Castle changing hands and his list of preferred vendors being ousted. After blackmailing Grant, Alderman Knight wants Grant to do his bidding to the great Khali - his mentor and second father-figure. What Alderman Knight didn't bank on though was that Grant would not only be an upstanding guy and care about others but also would fall in love with his daughter Autumn. Can Grant not only save his family business and help keep the Castle and businesses in the clear and on the legal side as well as helping clear the one he loves name as Autumn is finding herself being dragged deeper and deeper into her father's shady side of the business. I liked this one as it brought back the connectivity of the Brotherhood which I had felt was lacking in Daron Kincaid's story King of Morgan Park. I am now reignited with the enjoyment of this series and looking forward to continuing the books remaining in the Kings of the Castle series.

•••••••••

REVIEW: 3.75 stars-- KING OF LINCOLN PARK by Martha Kennerson is the seventh instalment in the multi-author / multi-cultural KINGS OF THE CASTLE romantic, suspense series focusing on nine ‘brothers’ from the streets of Chicago (Vikkas, Reno, Shaz, Jai, Daron, Kaleb, Grant, Dro and Dwayne) mentored and taught by the mysterious Khalil Germaine at the exclusive Macro International Magnet School in Chicago. This is King of Lincoln Park, architect Grant Khambrel, and twenty-eight year old, administrative director of the United Center Autumn Knight’s story line. KING OF LINCOLN PARK can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: For fans of Martha Kennerson, there is a cross-over with the characters Meeks Montgomery and the Blake Sisters from the author’s Protecting the Heiress, Seducing the Heiress, and Tempting the Heiress.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Grant and Autumn) KING OF LINCOLN PARK follows architect Grant Khambrel in the wake of winning the bid to renovate and upgrade the United Center, a win that places Grant in the direct line of fire when a dirty alderman, and his goons, threaten the vendors Grant is hoping to hire. Enter Autumn Knight, the administrative director of the United Center, as well as the daughter of the James Knight, the alderman in question. As Grant embarks on hiring his team, the Kings will come under a different kind of threat, when the historical society demands control of the Castle.

Autumn Knight is aware of her father’s questionable ethics but is shocked to learn, to what depths, he is willing to secure his power. From threatening would-be admirers or choosing the men with whom Autumn can date, Alderman James Knight is a force to be reckoned, a force that stands in the way of Grant current plans.

The relationship between Grant and Autumn is one of instant attraction but an attraction tempered by issues of trust, and Alderman Knight’s unethical control. Grant knows that Autumn is his happily ever after but Autumn has yet to realize to what depth her father controls everything he touches. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Several of the Kings of the Castle play secondary and supporting roles including Daron and Jai, and several of the young Knights (Hiram , Falcon, Michael, Ryan, Kevin). We are introduced to Grant’s uncle Ben and his partner Sam, Autumn’s administrative assistant Jenna Lowe, community activist Mark Nadler, Alderman James Knight and his right hand man Richmond Kane, as well as security specialist Meeks Montgomery.

KING OF LINCOLN PARK is a fast paced, intriguing and revealing story line wherein not only does Grant struggle to regain control but the Castle, itself, is threatened by an outside source. The premise is engaging and captivating; the romance is seductive and intense; the characters are colorful and energetic. KING OF LINCOLN PARK is a wonderful addition to the Kings of the Castle series.

They say power corrupts

And absolute power corrupts absolutely. Corrupt Alderman James Knight's back rom deals has not only had sights on him but also his daugghter Autum Knight, the manager of the United Center where Castle King of Lincoln Park and architect Grant Khambrell has acquired a contract that has made him a black mail target for something his uncle Benjamin, who raised him did. He has also became helplessly drawn to Autumn whose father thinks he can control every aspect of his 28 year old daughter's personal life. Grant wants something more with Autumn but he has to find out who is behind the black mail and the threats against the Castle. With the help of his security associates and the some of the other kings, he gets the go ahead to pursue Autumn, finds out who is behind the blackmail and why and who wants control of the castle. He and Autumn are free to pursue their HEA and get rid of a corrupt alderman.

This was my first time reading a book by this author and it probably won't be my last. I enjoyed how she told this tale and weaved some characters from her own previous books. Now I'll have to read about the triplets.

Yes To The King of Lincoln Park!! 🤗

Before there was Grant and Autumn, there was Grant and Benjamin...Uncle Ben! Now, that’s what love looks like! A young impressionable 10-year old Grant loses both of his parents and is taken in, with no hesitation, by his Uncle! This same Uncle gives up his love life in order to devote his time and love to this young boy! Fast forward to a grown Grant who falls for Autumn and will do everything in order to protect and grow their newfound love and also take care of his sick Uncle! As with the other books in this series, there’s a lot of drama, action and a few laughs!

This is another excellent book in this series! I highly recommend this book! Kudos, Martha!! 💜

King of Lincoln Park!

I love Grant. He knew immediately that Autumn was the one for him. There are so much corruption in the city of Chicago its amazing that there is anyone left. Khalil definitely has a way of dealing with her family. Grant and Autumn were made for each other. I love the King of the Castle series.

Really Good

It was wonderful being introduced to Grant, and Meeks. This was not only another worthy addition to a great series but it was fun. The writing flows like a waterfall, its constant. The mystery was just enough to keep you interested and the romance that was going on in the background was just plain sexy. This was a good story and entertaining.

A stand alone in the Kings of the Castle Series, we find Grant, one of the Kings, who falls for the daughter of an alleged crooked Alderman. The interaction between Grant and Autumn was done exceptionally well, and It was great to see my favorite couple of the Blake sisters from Ms. Kennerson's Kimani romance stories, as secondary characters. There is suspense, mystery and romance all rolled into one great read.

I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This a awesome series. It is action packed just as the previous Kings Of The Castle books. It is a standalone book and I suggest that you buy and read all of them books you will enjoy them.
Grant Khambrel is a architect and he has won the bid to do some upgrades for the United Center and someone is also trying to blackmail him and wants him to not accept his position as a member of the Kings Of The Castle that has been appointed to him by his mentor Khalil Germaine.
Autumn Knight is the administrative director of the United Center and her father is alderman James Knight who is using his position to things that he should not be doing.
Grant and Autumn met in passing while Khalil Germaine of The Kings Of The Castle was in the hospital visiting Khalil after someone attempted but did not succeed in trying to kill him.
It was so nice to reconnect Meeks Montgomery and Francine Blake who is a heiress and eldest Blake triplets who is CEO of a security who provides security to high end clientele.
Khalil Germaine is stepping down and he has hand picked nine young men Vikkas, Reno, Shaz, Jai, Daron, Kaleb, Grant, Dro and Dewayne whom he mentored in his school to take over the running of the Castle. The previous men of the castle have been up to some very unsavory things and want to keep on doing what they have been doing but Khalil will not let that keep happening.
Grant is busy trying to figure who is trying to blackmail him discredit him all while to trying his best get the attention of the lovely alderman's daughter Autumn.

Grant and Autumn...will they be or not be?

Blackmail, secrets, deception and love. This book has it all. The now Texan called back to Chicago for a job, but ultimately for a place at the table as a King of the Castle. Grant doesn’t realize the twisted web he’s walking into or that he’s about to meet the love of his life, the daughter of an Enemy threatening him. That’s what happens though and the wonderfully written tale takes us on a journey. Get ready to feel all the feels as Grant discovers what could threaten the deal of a lifetime, and Autumn realizes the depth of her fathers deception throughout the majority of her life. Definitely add this to your reading list.

Though this is a stand-alone, I highly recommend starting with Kings of the Castle and reading each Kings story in order. I read them all out order. They are so expertly crafted and flow so well between each of the books, it’s hard to tell each is crafted by a different author. Very well done!

Martha Kennerson keeps the pace in this series. Grant is a very complex, intriguing man. I was thrilled that he attended an HBCU, while leaving his race ambiguous. Autumn is interesting as well, I would love to see a follow up and some back story for her. I have a daughter sharing the name with her and she’s a student at Spelman College, so I was tickled. Alderman Knight was an was an easily dislikable person, until you learn how loss and grief affect people. Grant’s story was more personal, dealing with the male side of emotional issues and how they process things. All of the men in this book manifest their emotions differently. That makes this book hard to put down. I loved that homosexuality was dealt with in a very real way that isn’t often written about. The ending was real and satisfying. Great job Ms. Kennerson, less action, more feelings.

Book 7 was just as good as the other ones in this series. We get to meet Grant who for most of the series has been a minor character with not a lot being revealed about him. We get to find out why he is being blackmailed and who he is trying to protect in his family from that information coming out.. The romance was quick since it was love at first site and did not bring a lot of character growth with it but I think the selling point for this book to me is finding out why Grant was being blackmailed and by all the different players in that. Autumn was a strong female character and I really enjoyed Jenna her assistant and Meek throughout this book as well.

Thank you to Net Galley for allowing me to read and review this book!

First off , the characters and settings were brilliantly described . The author gives so much detail that I can clearly picture people and places In the book . The writing is great and the storyline piqued my curiosity.
The Alderman Knight character had me thinking of realistic politics we hear about daily and the steamy Romeo /Juliet type story had me reminiscing classic novels .

However , I felt a little lost in the beginning with all the names being thrown out to me right away . It was a little hard to keep up with every character being introduced so early on at lighting fast speed !

While people will say this is a stand alone story trust me you need to read the first book in the series and if this isn't a series than I felt lost at the beginning on the book with the cast of characters that seemed endless . The story doesn't flow well and at time becomes so predictable it is boring.
The characters do not stand out in this story and at times feel forced and lack focus. Rich man average feisty girl find themselves forced to work together to get things corrected.

King of Lincoln Park

These politicians and their entitlement are getting from bad to worst.Grant was such gentlemen when it comes to handling himself with everything that was laid at his feet. Autumn was such a strong young woman. She didn't let her father or no one to dictate to her how to live her life. Grant and Autumn Chemistry was so explosive. Despite the lies, blackmail and brutal they were able to overcome.
