Teaching is a work of heart that takes energy and inspiration. Whether your classroom is in a traditional school building or right next to your kitchen, the young people you are equipping are blessed to have you pouring wisdom into their lives. Rest assured that your hard work does not go unnoticed; the effort you put in now will reap a harvest in years to come.
Spend a little time with God as you dive into these devotions, and find the strength and encouragement you need to face each teaching challenge that comes your way. With God’s help, you can make a positive impact on those in your care.
My sister-in-law gave me this as a birthday gift last year and I have really enjoyed it. It's beautiful, first of all, and just a well-bound book. Each day has a verse, a few paragraphs to illustrate a point, and a short prayer at the bottom. The devotions connected teaching and being a child of God really well, I thought. I admired how they touched on things that are dear to a teacher's heart, but in a way that spoke to me as a person not just a school teacher. It addressed a broad view of teaching, mentoring, etc. and used lots of outside examples, too. And there were some really on point devotions that touched my heart and reminded me of solid truths. I'd recommend this for anyone who teaches in any capacity--or as a thoughtful gift for that teacher in your own life.
* I’m not giving this book a rating because it’s more a personal prayer/devotion book *
I’m also not including this book in my 2023 reading goal as I started it in 2022 and read it across the year.
Although the prayers in this book were fairly brief, I did find they got me into a good routine for quiet time and prayer at night. I did find that they maybe weren’t just as relevant for me now compared to a couple of years ago but they did make me stop and reflect on different aspects of life!
I have SOOOOO loved this book! If you know a teacher who is a Christian, I'm sure they would appreciate it. I was so annoyed with myself for leaving it at work when I was off for Christmas break. It was a delight to come back to work and read the verses from December 23 and then have another look at the January dates. It is a little book that speaks to the soul. I'm going to read it again as the days go on. Treat yourself or a teacher!
