In the age of dating apps, how has love changed? In this spicy and exciting collection of stories, a girl flirts with a boy through her Wi-Fi network and a woman decides to seduce her husband by entering a beauty pageant. Short, fun and full of mischief, these stories truly define love in the time of WhatsApp.
A collection of 12 short stories about modern day relationships some of which are supportive, others just meant to con or explore an opportunity and yet others, simply turn to digital dust and cause heartaches. In the era of disruptive cutting edge technology, many people are guilty of some harmless flirting just because it is relatively easy to know someone yet not know them at all and feel a soulmate connection behind the safety of our screens after a few dopamine inducing texts.
Some of the stories were a drag and some shocked me with their choice of words. But the titular story and Talk to you later were so emotive and have expressed the anxiety and indecisiveness in online relationships with precision. Hiatus that may be an essential gap to process what's happening for one, may be a painful piercing silence for another. But as one of the stories suggest, power lies in the realization that no one can walk in and out of your life as they please, if you dont let them in.
Love in the Time of WhatsApp is a collection of short stories written by multiple authors & published by Juggernaut Books. The book consists of 12 short stories, each story different from each other with a hint of how dating and love lives have changed in recent times due to digital platforms. Unfortunatenly some stories couldn’t grab my attention but in totality they are simple stories strung together with a common theme of love, a short pacy read.
Entertaining anthology of short and breezy stories. Not all are related to technology, some are plain old school style stories, but 2 things are guaranteed 1. Twisted end and 2. Riveting flow. Good Read
Love in the Time of Whatsapp and Other Stories is a bittersweet reminder of how love has changed in the face of technology.
Expect a book that has a decent collection of 12 short stories all of which somehow reflect the convergence of technology and modern love.
Expect a book that has a really diverse range of stories.
Expect a book that is a simple and short read and that will mostly appeal to beginner-level readers. Finally, expect a book that can be easily read in under 2 hours.
Though a lot of stories appealed to me, my personal favourites amongst the lot are Wi-Fi Love and Chrysanthemums in Springtime.
Wi-Fi love is a story that cautions us of the consequences of trusting a stranger in the online world. It reminds us that the virtual world is not the same as the real one and one small misjudgment on our part can mean courting disaster.
Chrysanthemums in Springtime is not a story that perfectly adheres to the theme but nevertheless it is a sweet one that attests to the fact that true love is indeed immortal.
The book is definitely entertaining. Barring a few dull ones, almost all the stories are interesting to read. The candid narrations and contemporary theme also ensure that the book is fast paced and racy.
It's an interesting collection ___ 12 stories, all different from each other. Quirky, sweet, poignant and 2, to be very frank, not so interesting stories. I'm not going to name them but 'Wi-Fi Love', 'The Glitch', 'Talk To You Later' and 'Chrysanthemums in Springs' are my favourites.
My Friday mornings are usually super cozy, super chilled. I like to take them slow. I wake up late, sit back with a cup of black tea, with a furbaby by my side and a book to read...and maybe a notebook or just my phone to jot down my thoughts. I spent this weekend reading an anthology which I was absolutely soaked in.
In the age of dating apps, how has love changed? 'Love in the time of whatsapp ' revolves around the above question.
In this spicy anthology of stories, a girl flirts with a boy through her Wi-Fi network and a woman decides to seduce her husband by entering a beauty pageant (that one's my favourite ). Short, fun and full of mischief, these stories truly define modern day love affairs .
The twelve writers included in this anthology are some of the most popular authors on the Juggernaut app. Most of them were discovered on the Juggernaut writing platform, while one story was picked up by a commissioning editor during a workshop.
This book overall has a literary feel with an add on of commercial appeal. It means that the writing is outstanding, but accessible at the same time. The characters focused, but the plot sharp. Worth giving a shot!
Four okayish stories squandered in a bouquet of Twelve boring ones.
I picked this one as Juggernaut released it's online free access. But, it rendered me a utter disappointment. 90% of the narratives are lust or infatuations, in the mask of love. Authors today, are demeaning love, starting from Chetan Bhagat to budding writers.
3.5 stars. Most of the stories are very well-written and were thoroughly entertaining. With the exception of 2-3 stories which I found bland, I liked this anthology overall. I enjoyed the twists in the end. A special mention to the story 'Chrysanthemums in Springtime' by Janaki R. which I really loved. Though I hadn't expected much from this book, it turned out to be quite a decent read.
A quickie to read and about two-timing during a strange cum invisible encounter wrapped in 10 minutes. Fun to kill boredom during the locked down downloaded for free on Juggernaut!
