Hungry. That's the word I would use to describe how I feel after reading this book. The depth of Melissa's faith is absolutely amazing. Reading about her relationship with Jesus makes me crave a deeper relationship with Him.
Weaving together unedited excerpts from Melissa's journals and heart-stirring narrative by her mother, Janette, this book offers a powerful and intimate glimpse into Melissa's rich interior life. The book itself is lovely, with a gorgeous pink floral theme, but the most beautiful thing about it is how it unveils Melissa's heart for God and those she loved.
Reading Jeremy Camp's gut-wrenchingly vulnerable memoir was a powerful experience, and I felt like I was familiar with his story of loving and losing Melissa. But reading I Still Believe was like looking in through a window; reading Melissa, If One Life was like coming through the front door and being welcomed into the living room, the heart of the story, and discovering a whole new level of understanding and appreciation. It reveals more of the special details and underlying feelings, all presented from Melissa's relationship-oriented feminine perspective. I could relate to some of her thoughts and feelings as a teenager on the cusp of adulthood seeking God's guidance in so many areas. Her life inspires me to trust in Jesus and pursue a deeper relationship with Him.
