I'm not going to review the content of the Bible! But I'll note here that I found this edition easy to read and portable (it traveled with me all year). I used the Bible In A Year podcast and reading plan to read the entire Bible this year - reading the daily passages and then listening to the podcast. The plan was definitely doable and I'd encourage anyone else who feels moved to spend some time with every book of the Bible to give it a try.
I have to give a shout-out to my NRSV-CE from Catholic Bible Press. I don't like the modern, inclusive language. It loses all the music and poetry of the prose. HOWEVER, physically, textually, and linguistically, it is a comfortable read. With minimal, translation-only footnotes and clear, smooth, familiar English text, it allowed me to read the Bible cover-to-cover for the first time in my life in just several months.
Author cooked, slow first half and then main character was introduced. Great character development and story arc. The main character was alluded to the whole first half and totally changed how I felt about it by the end. One of the best I’ve read. Very deep writing, will take a couple reads to digest the complex themes. 10/10
