D. C. Thomson & Co. Ltd, is a publishing company based in Dundee, Scotland, best known for producing The Dundee Courier, The Evening Telegraph, The Sunday Post, Oor Wullie, The Broons, The Beano, The Dandy and Commando comics. It also owns Friends Reunited, Parragon, and the Aberdeen Journals Group which publishes the Press and Journal, the Evening Express, the Aberdeen Citizen and the North Scotland edition of ScotAds.
The company began as a branch of the Thomson family business when William Thomson became the sole proprietor of Charles Alexander & Co., publishers of Dundee Courier and Daily Argus. In 1884, David Coupar Thomson took over the publishing business, and established it as DC Thomson in 1905. The firm flourished, and took its place as the third J in the "Three Js", the traditional summary of Dundee industry ('jam, jute and journalism'). Thomson was notable for his conservatism, vigorously opposing the introduction of trade unions into his workforce, and for refusing to employ Catholics.

I like it but it is not as good as the weekly comics. Really good for long periods of time where you are bored or need distracting but overall good reads
This is the 2020 edition of the extremely long-running Beano annual, and is essentially a longer version of a standard Beano comic. Many familiar faces like Dennis and Gnasher, Minnie the Minx, Rodger the Dodger, Billy Whizz and the Bash street kids are back as well as some newer segments incorporated. The humour in Beano is top-notch, and this annual is no exception, with a great parody cover of Honey I Shrunk The Kids. Many children reading may not even understand that reference but that is what makes Beano great, it’s humour is good for all ages. The bash street kids were my personal favourite segment from the annual, but there was an interesting ‘Beanoland’ storyline in two parts which was also first rate. The short stories were mostly fantastic, most very funny, and made for a very easy read, even though the book is fairly long. As always, the art was terrific, the same style as it was 50 years ago, which is a good thing. Of course, there was nothing particularly notable about this annual compared with all other Beano comics, but I think it is a very worthwile, humorous book , and I would definitely recommend to Beano fans
Entertaining as usual. It’s interesting to see how some characters have a more modern drawing style (Dennis, Roger) while others seem to have stuck with the classic linework (Bash Street Kids, Billy). The contrast with the newer minted cast is also noticeable.
