MIND. BLOWN.
So, first, I thought Lilith's story was over at the end of book 1 in this series. I was dead wrong. This book plays out Lilith's plan nicely, wrapping up that arc brilliantly. It's genius.
Second, the new characters are unbelievably great. Seeing Gabriel in a real relationship was wonderful and her girlfriend being so important to the overall story (and the series as a whole, I'm assuming) is masterful. The addition of a trans vampire had me cheering and their conversation with the Queen had me sobbing. As someone with a trans sibling, let me tell you, it was beautifully done. Bravo.
Lastly, my favorite part of this book was the prologue. I know, I know. People have an aversion to prologues for some reason. But, just as with the first two books in this series, it's vitally important. This one shows us Gabriel's backstory and HOLY CRAP, it's a ride. You will not be sorry you read it.
Elohim ties up loose ends, gives us a glimpse into Gabriel's psychology, and not only sets up the next book in the series, it makes you crave it. I can not wait to see where this all goes.
