“Lust in the Stacks: A Lesbian Romance Novel” is a hilariously entertaining lesfic story with likable characters, hilarious banter with streams of unintended (and some intended) double entendres, and with fantastic narration!
MC Alex is a gorgeous, likable nerdy IT tech who is angry at being banished to a small campus library by her incompetent and insufferable boss, Jeff. Until, that is, Alex meets MC Cait Murphy.
Ahh, but Alex must keep things professional, as she frequently reminds herself, because she loves her current girlfriend Jasmine. Alex and Jasmine are technically girlfriends, though it seems to Alex that they’ve been on the “slowest road to break-up in the history of the world”. Jasmine is a beautiful hipster, who grew up wealthy and privileged. Empathy is not one of her key traits. Nor is passion, but every now and then she agrees to come to Alex’s apartment, causing Alex to burst into several choruses of her happy song: “I’m gonna bang my girlfriend, I’m gonna bang my girlfriend.”
That song turns out to be quite accurate; sex with pillow princess Jasmine is not a mutual banging event. Jasmine declares that she needs to date other people, and forces a change in their relationship as girlfriends to one of “ethical non-monogamy”. 😳
Alex finds herself caught between her demanding boss and the library staff, who are resisting letting CUIT (Cowling University IT department) unilaterally dictate how their data are managed.
As Alex and Cait work more and more closely together, Alex becomes convinced that Cait is flirting with her. Turns out that Cait is not a big fan of wearing panties or a bra, btw! 😉
Jasmine is quite happy dating other women while keeping Alex as her girlfriend, and even texts one right after sex with Alex while still in bed, and insists that Alex join them at a restaurant to meet Shoshannah, become friends and learn to share Jasmine. I wish I’d been sitting at the restaurant table next to them for THAT convo!
The story is told entirely from Alex’s POV, and so we have a few side characters who are her friends, and her BFF Jenny and work bestie Charles are important as the story progresses. We meet Cait and the librarians as Alex meets them, and we know them only by what they say to Alex, and how they act with her.
Eventually, Alex and Cait do hookup (😁), and we hear Alex’s thoughts on whether they might only be hooking up, or whether they might be relationship material. As likable as Alex is, she doesn’t always pick up on some pretty clear signals!
CUIT’s “data migration project” is a bit of a Macguffin for the romance, but it provides a reason for boss Jeff to be part of the story, and for the typical lesfic angst moment at the 80% point.
This is one of the most fun stories I’ve listened to for awhile. Hot IT nerd, hot librarian, work drama that is almost cartoonish, girlfriend drama that is definitely cartoonish, and energetic narration! 5*

This is the first book by this author for me and enjoyed it tremendously. The narrator Lessa Lamb is also new to me and she was terrific. Her Irish brogue was wonderful. Alex is in a one sided relationship and sometimes acts like a frat boy. Cait is your fantasy librarian come true. She is smart and sweet as well as being beautiful. I enjoyed seeing their friendship develop and blossom.

A bit different but fun
As a geek doing many of the same described jobs I can say it seemed many times to be geeks against the world. Many women in tech began to sound like men because often you were one of the only women in IT. It was an unusual romance in the book there was no real courting or a relationship developing but it did seem like a stereotypical lesbian relationship. I'd prefer a little more romance in the romance and a little more character development as well.

The story alone would not get my 5 stars but the Audiobook read by Lessa Lamb would get more than a 5 star rating if I could give it. She took this one and ran to the hills with it, giving life and personality to the characters, making each event electrical with the way her pacing, narration AND accents. OH MY HER IRISH ACCENT.
I never really got why everyone thought the accent was all that but now, I believe they're all that AND MORE. Damn, do Irish women really have that soft sexy accent ??? Have I been living in the wrong side of Europe ??? * mind blown * / * eargasm *

Fabulous Story & Narration🎧 Captivating & Heartfelt!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it is well written with interesting storylines that are captivating from start to end. Natalie Falkenwrath has a way with words, some of the dialogue between characters was too funny at times. I liked that the characters were realistic and easy to relate to. Alex works tech support at Cowling University, she is outspoken, tells it like it is, her boss is not a fan of her. She gets reassigned to work at the University’s library. Her girlfriend Jasmine wants to see other people, afraid of losing her Alex agrees. I was disappointed in Alex for being a doormat in that relationship, she is outspoken at work yet she is afraid to tell Jasmine how she feels. Jasmine definitely does not deserve Alex. Alex was not happy with her new assignment, but she’ll make the best of it and it got even better after meeting Cait, the sexy librarian. I adored Cait, she had a great head on her shoulders, I thought she was great for Alex, the chemistry between them was smoking hot. The big cool down was Jasmine, I was happy that Alex finally grows a pair and tells her what she wants. I loved how everything plays out in this book, there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, some angst, some laughs, some heartfelt moments and some hot ones too. Natalie Falkenwrath, thank you for this fabulous story and the emotional rollercoaster ride.
I listened to the Audible edition, Lessa Lamb is a talented narrator and voice artist. She does an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life giving each their own voice and personality. She did an awesome Irish accent for Cait, great with some melodic lines too. You could hear how much heart she puts into her work as she captures the characters emotions and projects them into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Lessa Lam, thank you for another fabulous listen, you are a star🌟

It’s packed with cheeky double entendres and banter that might delight some readers while bordering on excessive for others. Pretty darn good for a debut novel! I enjoyed the writing and the characters (well, not Jasmine) and will be looking for more from this author. Sex scenes were steamy, too! Lessa Lamb was the PERFECT narrator for this story. I loved her voice for Alex and Cait's Irish accent sounded great!

What a fun read! I feel like we have all, at one time or another, been in relationships that hold us back. I enjoyed watching Alex find her way through a maze of loyalty, desire and self awareness. I love the ways that Kate challenges her to grow. If you are looking for something entertaining, romantic and sexy.. look no further!

I keep coming back
I read this book a long time ago. Had an urge to read it again but had forgotten the name. Luckily I remember the plot and with a good google search I found it again. This time I bought it. That way I don’t have to search for it again next time. I love it as a crazy book lover and a lesbian. I love this book. It a good couple hour read. I love the story.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Lessa is fantastic for these characters, she shows her personality through these characters and it helps you connect immediately with them. Great storyline and it’s written very well.

Sexy librarian
This is the first book I have read from this author and it won't be the last. I would've got rid of Jasmine long before she pulled what she did. So I'm happy that Alex was able to be with someone who truly wanted to be with her and love her.

read kinda like a bad fan fic. There were some good bones to the story, but it was undercut by this overall juvenile feeling to the characters, how they approached pretty much every situation, and the humor. it was a little endearing at first, but quickly got old
