We're friends, teammates—and we hook up. Often.

Shaw: He's intense and the heat of his stare is hot enough to set fires.

The first time we got together, it was a spontaneous earth-shattering moment. I wanted more. So, of course I popped the question.

“Yours or mine for round two?” That’s where the trouble began. We agreed on an exclusive, no strings arrangement. When one of us is ready to walk away, we'll still be friends. Perfect, right?

He's not exactly a people person—understatement of the year—but I've seen the real him and he's so much more than the broody loner others see him as.

But the brilliant plan backfired. I accidentally caught feelings.

Bishop: He could be my game-changer but there's a problem.

He put a dent in my armor when he decided I needed a friend. Then he managed to crawl under my skin—and between my sheets.

He's the one person in the world I trust, and he's mine, for as long as this lasts. But I think I messed up and likely lost him for good.

The role in my family's company I've been groomed for my entire life competes with my growing feelings for him. Turns out I can't have them both.

What a terrible time to realize he means more to me than just a friend and convenient hookup.

Being friends with benefits is the perfect arrangement until someone falls in love.

Broken Play is a story about finding that one person that gets you, choosing your own future and the love of football.

Everything was going good;

-The characters, Shaw and Bishop were likable.

-The romance was solid, the sex hot! These two fucked like bunnies.

description

-The story was light and sweet. And THEN! Just when everything was going soooo good, the author decided it was time to add unnecessary drama. Bring in the bitchy female character, the bad bad evil dad, aaaannndd "you have to marry a woman to get your inheritance." 🙄🙄🤨

description

-Then that plot line just disappeared poof! It was gone.

-Anyhoo, I stayed for the hot bunny sex.

Re-read: 31.10.19
I needed a easy M/M read (got a headache so didn't want something heavy) and I find myself going back to this one, even though I just read it a couple of months ago. I still quite liked it and STRANGELY I freaking got teary by that scene towards the end. It likely it's because I'm on my period, but damn, hadn't seen that coming. Overall, I love how easy this book is to read; it's fast forward, sexy, awesome character and a somewhat good plot line. I truly with the author will write one more book on these two young men. One isn't enough.
New Rating: 3.5 not long enough stars.

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*Pleasantly Surprised*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

Strangely, I liked this one. It was fast forward, freakingly hot and the theme is something I quite enjoy. The book centers around Shaw Wakefield and Bishop Shepherd, who's decided to be friends with benefits. Unfortunately - or fortunately -, feelings starts to get shown, and that's not the only thing standing in their way. Overall, I'm a bit shocked at how much I enjoyed it. I liked the characters. Bishop's a bit of a dom and Shaw likes to disobey. Their chemistry is easy to see and I loved how easy the book was to read. It didn't have much depth, but I wasn't looking for that so that was good.

It was a bit strange with how.... full on the book started. I'm guessing reading book one is recommended highly as we're probably missing something by starting on this without reading the previous one. However, I wasn't interested in that one, so. Luckily, it still worked out for me and still left me hot and bothered. The only problem I had was the epilogue; though it was from Shaw POV, it still wasn't about them. I needed more of Shaw and Bishop. I also wouldn't have minded if the book had more... pain. Oh and I wish the book was longer.

Other Characters:
Rush and Torin, couple from book one; Quarterback Sneak. Torin was the previous starting quarterback for the Sugar Land Saints, last season before he graduated. We don't meet them in this book as they have graduated.
Nash, plays the same position as Shaw; a wide receiver (Bishop's defense).
Memphis, the newbie quarterback, replacement for Torin.
Logan, one of the o-line guys on the team.
Rendon, Shaw's little brother, who received an academic scholarship, and he’d be beginning his first semester at Sugar Land in the fall.
Phil and Sarah Wakefield, Shaw's parents.
Patrick Shepherd, Bishop's father.
Gabrielle Shepherd, Bishop's mother who died when he was 12.
Mya Vance, a girl Bishop's father wants him (Bishop) to marry. If he doesn't he'll remove Bishop's position as part owner next year. If she doesn't marry him, she'll lose her inheritance. She and Bishop hate each other.

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (New Adult) Contemporary Romance (M/M).
Series: - Series (Semi-Standalone), Book Two.
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - Bishop Shepherd.
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Most likely.
Would I recommend this book/series? - Yes.
Will I read this again in the future? -Probably.
New Rating - 4/3.5 stars.

description I 𝓮𝓷𝓳𝓸𝔂𝓮𝓭 this one a lot. 👍 It was equal parts s♥w♥e♥e♥t 🍭 and ŞΜØҜƗŇ' ĦØŦ. 🔥🔥 With a nice bit of ḀṆḠṠṮ thrown in for good measure. ⌛ Both 🆂🅷🅰🆆 and 🅱🅸🆂🅷🅾🅿 were likable. 👬 And I am 🅓🅨🅘🅝🅖 to know what went down between 𝓝𝓪𝓼𝓱 and ⱤɆ₦. 👀 The only small issue I had with this one was the whole "M͓̽y͓̽a͓̽" situation. 😒 It felt contrived with her literally coming ⊕u† ⊕ƒ η⊕ωhεrε to act like the Wicked Witch of the West. 🔪 Then she is just ғᴏʀɢᴏᴛᴛᴇɴ like a bad dream. 😳 Even a couple sentences in passing as to what 𝕙𝕒𝕡𝕡𝕖𝕟𝕖𝕕 to her and her inheritance would have done wonders. 🙈 Still, even with that niggle this was still an 🅔🅝🅙🅞🅨🅐🅑🅛🅔 read, and yours truly gives it two 👍👍.

Another solid entry in this college-age sports romance series from Baylin Crow.

I liked Bishop and Shaw, their dynamic worked really well, although I did feel that Bishop read as a lot older than a college student.

It's smoking hot, these two burn up every available surface they can find, but there's also a deep emotional connection between them.

So why not a higher rating? Mostly because I felt there wasn't a lot of time given for the tension element of the plot to build up.

It came out of nowhere, caused a very brief break-up between the two and then was all over and done with without much of a nod to the long term fall out.

Still, it's definitely an enjoyable and easy read without much in the way of over the top angsting and I do like the setting.

MM Romance
Friends With Benefits
3 Stars ⭐️

I read this novella for the smut. It was obvious after reading ‘Quarterback Sneak’ that these two were going to be a hot couple because taking a grumpy loner football guy and pairing him up with his flirty teammate makes for a good time. We come into the book with them already in this arrangement but it’s clear they are both super into each other as more than friends. These two fucked like bunnies 😂 (you were right Shile 💗) and it was hot and all I needed was a bit of a love declaration for this to be perfect but then this author decided to throw some weird drama in there. The homophobic shitty father comes into the picture saying “You can’t be gay, you must marry this chick or lose your stake in the company” and then enter the bitchy fiancé. THANKFULLY because this is short, it’s not some long drawn out thing and is resolved quickly. Resume hot sex.

I knew going in what to expect and I thought this was hot and I liked the couple. One of my few 3 star ratings that I actually like the book but because there’s no depth I can’t rate it higher. That being said, I’m super curious about Nash & Rendon but it’s full length so I’ll read the sample and then make up my mind later.

DNF @ 39%

This went from all the sex to an insane forced marriage to a woman when one of the MC’s dads found out he was gay. It was all strangely boring too.

These two!

This is a new author for me and I just LOVE her writing style!
This is a short love story between teammates: Bishop the rich kid and Shaw.

This book start with these two already in a "relationship" (fuck buddies). They are just HOT (Sex scenes are really really good....like really!), cute and so adorable together. I just loved the way they were slowly but surely falling for each other. Best friends to lovers! The way Bishop just fought for Shaw in the end! Glorious.

I loved this. I didn't read the first book of these series (I will tough!) but it wasn't disturbing! A quick read, light, adorable and one drama (resolved quickly). I totally recommend this author!

“So what do we do?” His eyes were full of uncertainty as he asked me for a solution, but I had none.
“I don’t know. I can’t answer that for you. Your dad has tied your hands.”

And this is where Bishop lost any appeal he ever had for me :( The story thus far was okay, pretty steamy and fun, but I absolutely hate people who pass over the decision making for their life to others. I mean HATE. Especially in cases like this one, where it's pretty obvious what he should do. It really hit a nerve, because only yesterday, someone asked me what he should do, in a case even more obvious than this one, and it was something he had been deliberating for weeks, so I'm very angry right now to read this scene. Unfortunately some people just don't want to take responsibility for their life and try to pass the decision making to others.

And..... pet peeve aside, this was very blah anyway. It reminded me why I don't read new adult and college romances, what with the constant chuckling and laughing and jock parties in the pool and outings in the pubs...Unfortunately it's not a setting I care for, but the reviews made this seem fluffy and fun and easy to read and I decided to ignore the red flags. My bad :(

Wowza, this was an unforgettable one. These two hit me in the heart with all the feels. Like ALL the feels. Passionate, sweet, and tender ones, but also heart-wrenching and anxiety-filled ones (fortunately the hard ones were not uber long-lasting). Thank goodness it ended well.

I liked seeing Bishop’s softer side come out when he was with Shaw. Plus, I love a somewhat possessive, but not overbearingly so, MC, and Bishop delivered. I had a hard time putting this book down to get real life stuff done, it was that good. It was a wild ride of emotions, and I’ll probably reread it again, haha.

Hot! Hot! Hot!

Wow! That was hot! The beginning alone, I can’t breath!

Wow! What can I say! This book is so so hot! Shaw and Bishop has been very quite till now! Bishop is not an asshole like everyone thinks, especially when it comes to Shaw! He will do anything for Shaw, ANYTHING!

These two young, strong, talented, smart, vulnerable young men are so enamored with each other, they keep avoiding even thinking about it. They have made a no-strings, no-feelings attached, friends with benefits arrangement, but they fit each other perfectly! Also, nothing comes without complications right?

How these two navigated all these complications warm and stabs my heart, they each had to go through self-evaluation, realizing what they truly want, agonizing times apart to realize what really is important for them!

Ms. Baylin, I love this book so much, I literally can’t wait for the next one! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you so much for your talent!

Football Friends to Lovers MM Romance

3 stars!

I love sports romances so this was an easy pick. I felt like it was having a bit if an identity crisis as I wasn't sure who was the football player until a few chapters in. This story takes place over summer vacation so the football is very minor to the story.

I liked the MCs. They seemed to have a genuine connection even if they hold back from each other. I did feel like the timeline was quick but I guess it makes sense due to the outside circumstances. One thing I wasn't thrilled about was the lack of details. Nothing super important but I still have questions. How long has this bed buddy relationship lasted? How did the team react to finding out they were together? Ect.

Overall, this was a good story about friends falling in love and I'm not mad I read it.

Hotttt!!!!!!!
This book is smoking hot with lots of sexy times and a bit of spanking. This is fuckbuddies to lovers book and one of my favourite tropes. Bishop and Shaw have amazing chemistry together. And it's a sports romance!!

I haven't read the first book in the series but this is a standalone with dual POV and I didn't feel like I missed anything.

Bishop, broody and mysterious, was one of my favourite characters. I hated his father though. 'Worst father of the year' award goes to Mr Shepherd! We do get a little bit of the typical rich kid/poor kid drama but I loved Bishop and Shaw.

Is the next book going to be Rendon and Nash? I hope so as I think the epilogue sets up for their book. Looking for toward to it!!

Great second book

This was a little more angsty than the first book, but just as good.

It was fun, heartbreaking, very hot and a little sweet.

I loved Bishop and Shaw and how much they complement each other. Their story wasn't easy, but it felt real and I loved it.

Great book, I can't wait for the next one

Bishop and Shaw appeared to be the "odd couple" of the team with Shaw's bright friendliness and Bishop's dark brooding. Together they found a balance, but not until they went through their own trials both from within themselves and those that should have supported them.

I enjoyed Shaw and Bishop's chemistry quite a lot. If this is the first book you've read from the series you'd miss out on some of their interactions that gave a bit of a basis for the way their relationship really took off in this story. There was very little foundation building in this story, but we know right away what the relationship is and that the status quo is quickly becoming not enough for either of the young men. With a dual POV we get to see both of them attempting to navigate the complications of their changing feelings and fears of both perceptions and disappointed hopes. It wasn't too angsty, but the angst was predictable with the interference of secrets, coercion, and prejudice.

I did think the reconciliation and conclusion made up for the upsets that were experienced. And with an epilogue that gave us the open and loving moments between Bishop and Shaw we've been craving, it felt like a complete story, so long as you saw how they were as friends in Quarterback Sneak before things changed for them. We were also given a little insight into the trouble we're going to find with Nash and Rendon. I'm seeing a good lead-in to the next book in the series and I'm suitably intrigued.

Great college romance

I really enjoyed reading about Shaw and Bishop. Fun and sexy couple. It was clear to see The underlying friendship and all that chemistry...those guys were so deep in love way before it was acknowledged. The drama that happens with Bishop's father was a bit far-stretched but underneath that was Bishop's grief and desire to connect to his mother. It was also the impetus that led to Bishop and Shaw recognizing what they meant to each other. I loved this and since this is a new author to me, I'm going back to read her earlier works....love her easy style.

I really enjoyed this book. It has a great balance of steam and emotions, and the background plot (family struggles, if you can call that background) being both involved and detailed, while not taking away from the romantic development. It was also resolved in a way that felt ...real. Reasonable. Sometimes the resolutions can be downright stupid but this one was good. I also liked the realism of Bishops relationship with his father - his dad was a jerk, but not 100% pointlessly evil, he had reasons for being the way he was.

All around great book, might actually reread. I also appreciated that we got the bonus scene at the end!

Bishop and Shaw were casual lovers involved in an undercover affair. They both agreed to keep things physical until either one grew tired of their arrangement, however, unsurprisingly they caught feelings and ultimately this led to things getting messy as a result of parental ultimatums and family obligations. This installment, like its predecessor, was quite predictable and a bit of a cliché but I liked it nonetheless so I guess that's the important bit.

I recommend to those interested in a little angst coupled with intense man love, enjoy!

Loved it even though I bawled my eyes out a couple of times. It was so good from the first page & I wanted to read it all in a day but a little over half ways I had to charge my Kindle, good thing to because I was ready to throw it... Oops! Once it was charged I finished the book & yay, happy tears after a bit. Such a great read & can't wait to read next book.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a quick read the drama was well played out but no over extended. You DO NOT need to read the first book for this. I dove right in and it was chill. Easy breezy beautiful tropes here. I love a good tropey athlete romance. Firm 4/5. Not 5 because it's not my favorite book ever, but it was a good read!

Worst book of the year.
It was just meh. The characters were right but there is a big lack of development. I think the bonus scene at the end of the books it's the best part of it.
We don't have real development and the other characters like Bishop's father and Mya just showed up to made things bad a single time and then they were gone. Do you really expect me to believe that?

I really enjoyed this one, more than the first one. Shaw and Bishop are hot together and even though I could see the outcome a mile away I didn't care. Glad they got their happy ending and I'm excited to read Rendon's story, I think that's going to be a good one.

I am sorry but this was just boring. Secret gay relationship, evil father wants gay son to marry girl, relationship crisis, happy ever after. Gee, that hasn’t been written before. There’s just nothing about this book to recommend it. I’m very sorry.
