No shade, I just found it boring. It’s well written, but maybe too well written—I don’t require that much detail about rafts.

I read this many years ago with my father and we read out loud to each other in southern dialects. It helped us get into character and figure out what Huck and Jim's dynamic. I still have fond memories of reading the book even though I don't remember the details of the plot anymore.

I was inspired to read this book again because the book titled James (by Percival Everett) was in my top 3 favorite reads of 2024. I knew Twain’s Huckleberry Finn was the point of departure for Everett’s book.

I’m glad I re-read this Mark Twain classic and I appreciate why it is historically significant but there are several parts in the book that dragged on too long for my taste. (For example the King and the Duke characters and some of Tom Sawyers over- analyzed action plans). All in all I’m glad I reread it as the key reference point to Everett’s novel: James. That being said- by no means do you need to read this book to fully appreciate Everett’s culturally rich and engaging story.

From what I remember from reading this way back in middle school, it was a fun tale of friends in an adventure on the Mississippi river. There is a reason this is considered a classic and has been read in classrooms all over for years and years. While some elements definitely show the prejudices of the time, there are lots of important themes and lessons to be learned in this book as well as the other book about Tom Sawyer. Someday I'll have to re-read this as an adult and see how well I still enjoy it:) Mark Twain is one of America's most recognized authors because of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn:)

I read this for my AP Lang class, and I am gonna be honest, I got kinda bored reading it. Yes, there were some parts of the story that were kinda interesting, like Jim and Huck trying to escape together and not get caught. But, overall, I found it kind of boring, which I understand. This book is supposed to be more historical and has a second meaning to it, rather than being for pure entertainment. I liked the symbolism in the book and how everything had a second meaning behind it when you look at it in depth.

I’ve read this book a few times. I highly recommend rereading a book from high school required reading because you will get so much more meaning out of it as an adult with more life experience. The character development of Huckleberry Finn is extraordinary. The way Huckleberry develops empathy and love for Jim is so meaningful and heartwarming. There are parts that made me laugh out loud as well. Such a good story for the generations.

I was FORCED to read this book in high school even though the way it was written gave me migraines. I understand the concept, because it's the way Huck words things, I just absolutely despise it.

I apologize for this review, Mark Twain, but this book was the bane of my existence for the entire duration of that one year in high school.

Read this book reckon bout 15 times.

Gets better every time.

Sets a high bar for American fiction.

Shows how some eternal questions are best explored through the eyes of a child.

Shows how deep the scars of race are in this country. Damn. We got a long way to go to a place we'll never fully attain.

Danish audio book.
not my favorite story, but it was okay. I know this is a American classic but the last half is very confusing and I kept drifting off so next time I tuned in, they met 4 new people and got away from 2 and got in trouble again 😅 not going back to re-read but okay story. glad I got through it.

I won’t be able to get back the amount of hours I spent in english class being afraid a classmate of mine or my teacher would be reading aloud and read off a slur

The humor and broader themes of Twain are lost on highschool students, I feel one must have a matured and sarcastic lense when they read Finn's stories to appreciate the messages between the lines.

Huck Fınn’in çocukluk çağında omuzladığı yüklere rağmen pratik zekası, hızlı çözümleri, güzel arkadaşlıkları ilerlediği nehir boyunca bizleri de peşinden sürüklüyor. Keyifli okumalar :)
