Helena Hebert likes a tidy life. As the only child of a bookish father, she enjoys the freedom of running the roost in her small town of Wayfair Ohio, but when her aging father can no longer keep a job she is desperate to find a way to support both of them. Augusta (Agi) Pennington has more than he can manage with three growing boys and burgeoning business. The seed money he dug from the Arizona desert is bringing him big returns but he can’t seem to find anyone willing to keep house for him anymore. Desperate to get a handle on his boys' behavior and their rapidly deteriorating home he seeks the help of his friend and the new bride herder in town. Will he have what it takes to win a bride?
Danni Roan, born in rural western Pennsylvania, has always loved the country life. Her first work published under her real name, Paula Liddle-Beem, is a collection of folk essays about childhood in the lush, green mountains of PA. Being a teacher of English and English as a Second Language for the past twelve years has only inspired Danni’s love of writing Western Historical Fiction. After receiving her Masters of Education in Teaching English as a Foreign Language she determined to indulge her passion for fiction writing. Teaching both in the USA and abroad has exposed Danni to a wide range of people from all walks of life and she tries to capture that unique character in her work.
I thoroughly enjoyed the antics of Agi's boys and the suspense of how much Helena could handle. When Agi and Helena married under less than honest circumstances, I was very curious to see if they could make their marriage work and maybe even find love. This was an incredibly fun story to read and I can't wait for more!
What a fantastic book. The title says it all and with a love story included. I recommend this book to others who love a clean, sweet, historical romance.
These books in the series are short read them in a couple of hours type of books. The fact that they are taking me days is because I only have been reading for a few minutes at night. This one has been one of my favorite and is really close to a five star book but I hold off only because that is me saving my five stars for something spectacular. Crazy I know but that’s me. This was a sweet love story and was told in the direction of the bride’s history first and where she and her father came from. Also the prospective grooms’s story. If you read the series a lot of it starts with all the brides together and then branches out from there. There is one bride that appears in EVERY story if only for a paragraph and it drives me to pull my hair out. She is no more special really than the others and I think the various authors of the series could mention one or two different characters within the entire series to keep it fresh especially towards these end books.
I laughed really good reading this book.. it was very good.. Nice way to.show others that after losing a loved one their is still hope for a happy future.
This book was so entertaining and joyful. I love how Danni Roans characters jump right in and take over the book. They are well written with a multitude of personalities. I especially love how she captures children. They can be the littlest stinkers and still you love their antics! Taking on 3 at once and being determined to mother them is a feat that Helena did well. She definitely had the patience and drive to do it, overcoming a lot! Augusta needed a woman exactly like Helena to come into his life. He needs what he once had and Helena is just the woman for that situation too. You are going to love this next installment in the Bride Herder series. Enjoy! I received an ARC of this book and am choosing to leave an honest review.
Another fantastic story in the Bride Herder series. Ms. Roan does a fabulous job on this story. I loved the interaction between family members of our heroine’s new family. Any other woman would have left this family of boys with no control, father who works too much and lets his boys run wild and every house cleaner left as fast as they came. The only reason this bride stays is she needs a place for her father and herself to stay and needs the stability. She will do what she has to in order to get her new family until control including her new husband. This is such a good story with great characters and great story line. I love it. Highly recommended.
I very much enjoyed this book. Lots of great characters, I especially liked Helena. Helena is strong, brave and smart. This book had me laughing at times but also wondering how Helena had such patience. Danni Roan writes such great stories that captures you heart but also keeps you guessing until the end. I enjoyed everything about this story.
Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
Helena needed to marry so her and her father had a place to live. Ago needed a wide to take care of his three boys, the house and meals. Except Ago skipped over the part where his three sons have been running wild and nobody has been cleaning the house. Enjoyed the book.
First I must say that conceiving and writing a novel is commendable. This one had the potential to be very good. The poor grammar, occasional bad word choices and syntax and, most horrendous, calling a man Augusta made it extremely irritating. There, their, they're. Learn the difference.
Sweet three generational family love story. Helene and her father need a place to I’ve since he is out of work due to disabling arthritis. Agi has three boys that have needed a mother for four years. Can they become a family when so many people do not think so? - Babs
This one will have you laughing!! The character development is excellent, especially Helena. Boys will be boys and Helena had so much patience with them as well as a lot of love to share. This is a great story with a HEA. I enjoyed it very much and highly recommend it.
Another heart-warming, sweet and clean western historical romance. A guaranteed HEA with Christian values, a romance every age with surely enjoy reading. I personally like the fact that even if they were only married due to practical reasons they found a happily ever after in their world.
All it takes to corral three little roughians is a strong woman determined to be a mother, a pinch grandpa tolerance, and a befuddled dad. All together you get the perfect family.
Augusta/Agi- A widower has 3 "unruly " boys and owns the local sawmill. Helena- had to find security for her dad and self. I enjoyed reading this engaging story that is well written with charismatic characters. Their story has a wonderful HEA!
This story is written with intuitive and skillful presentation of the storyline and characters that draw the reader into the book and keep the interest focused.
Very well written and the plot is well put together too. The characters are great and very interesting. It had adventure, excitment, humor, and romance. Agi and Helena work through their problems and find their happily ever after.
I loved this book. Helena had such a great attitude even when things looked bleak. I wanted to shake Agi but was glad to see he could be trained. This book was so much fun. The characters are wonderful and the story line keeps you reading to see how Helena will handle the different trials.
All of the books of this series are very good; but this one is the best. I laughed and sympathized with Helena every time the boys and/or Agj tried her patience. With patience, persistence, and love she was able to work a miracle.
What a wonderful addition to this series, as another young lady finds her match. Can Helena find a place for herself and her father? Can Agi find someone to take care of his house and three boys without love involved?
Another great book in the Bride Herder Series. This is a wonderful book. The characters are so realistic! The strength and perseverance of Helena is awesome! The way the book flowed was great! I look forward to reading more in this series and this author!
Excellent story of Helena, a young woman of spirit and a heart so full of love for her father that she goes to great length to provide a home for them both by marrying a man with 3 spirited boys. Great book.
I really enjoyed this story. She was full of strength and practical. Yes boys will be boys and a busy father seemed to forget he was but she brings them in line . I can't wait to read more.
I really enjoyed this story of a strong woman who manages to take a horrible situation and find solutions and love. It was nice to see how they became a family.
Herding the Hellions by Danni Roan is a sweet story. I loved the characters. There parts of humor that had me laughing out loud. This was such an enjoyable book.
