Slow – Nespěchejte, žijte pomalu

Rate this book
Proč žít rychle, když můžete žít pomalu, v klidu a pohodě?

It's not that reading this book took me almost three months. And yet I've spent all that time with it. That's what happens when you're translating something. I might not be absolutely unbiased - if you're spending so much time with a book, if you're giving it another life in different language, I guess you have to love it (or at least develope some kind of Stockholm syndrome for it ;)). But, to be honest, I've loved it from the first page - and both reading and translating it was great experience, fulfilling and rewarding. I can only hope my translation keeps its spirit and everyone will like it the same as I did.

It's a beautiful book and I really enjoyed reading it. It would have been great to have some more information, a lot of the book is filled with imagery which is great, however, it could have had so much more.

Slow living is just that – a chance to stop the idea that being busy is the be-all and end-all, to start paying attention to the important things in life, and to slow down to a pace that is right for you.

The perfect book to have on your coffee table to flip through and reread whenever you want to take in tips and tricks for living a slower paced life 〰️

I love the format, the quotes, the pictures and the structure as it's easy to consume, and easy to remember! Jo Peters also supports with countless research studies and claims that really feel helpful to leading a slow, calm and rejuvenating life. Definitely a book I will always have on my person as a useful resource when dealing with life's constant and overwhelming tasks 😅🥲

Valt weinig over te zeggen. Niet veel nieuws dat we niet al lang weten.
Right in the middle: 2,5/5.

I read this book in Norwegian, and didn't know it was about the slow living movement until I started reading. I have read several books about slow living, so there wasn't much new to me in this one. I would recommend this book to beginners of slow living, but I suspect the Norwegian translator doesn't know much about the slow living movement as some of the translations was a bit off.

A little posh. But mostly accessible . Could benefit from tips for folk who can’t afford to get out to countryside for wild garlic etc

Lots of helpful tips on how to live a more meaningful and fulfilling everyday life. To follow the guidance is to embrace the enjoyment of the little things and quality time with yourself, family and friends, which is a hard thing to come by day to day in this smartphone-internet-social media focused world. Great advice for de-stressing and accepting to love and appreciate everything you have, rather than focusing on what you don’t have. Top take aways from this - make the decision to enjoy your surroundings and not live your life through your phone - enjoy making food with real whole ingredients, make time for this - make time for outdoor exploration and do things you ENJOY. Lovely book

Inspiring read

Having spent many years obsessing about my bloated to do list, the concept of slow is a revelation. I look forward to implementing Jo's suggestions and living a more fulfilling life.

It can be read in one evening, lots of familiar content, but also correct thoughts about slowing down, which truly helps with focus and calmness, ultimately positively affecting productivity.
