My heart! This book is soooooo beeping amazing! This book grabbed hold of my heart and just would not let it go, not that I wanted it to anyway. I am still riding my reading high from this book. From the very first page this book captivated me, it built the connection between the characters, it made me love this crew even more. Not once did I want to leave this fictional world, I wanted to stay wrapped up in it forever. I was so sad when the book was over, but I have Trav's book to indulge in soon!
Mace, oh my sweet Mace. I LOVED Gage, but Mace... ohhhh my Mace. His sweetness caught me, his love for his family and friends was incredible. His strength was inspiring. I just absolutely love him. Jess is such a beautiful girl. She is just like Mace. The love and strength she has is just incredible. These two characters together just warmed my heart so much.
But what would a book be without that incredible twist! My heart broke, it hurt, I cried, I literally did. I was on the edge of my seat and just could not walk away or close my eyes to what was happening. The suspenseful part of the book was captivating. I wanted to fight! I felt SO many emotions while reading this book, it just felt so real to me.

VR Baucke is a new to me author so I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I started reading Break for me.
I really enjoyed this book, it sucked me in from the start and made me fall for Jess and Mace.
A story full of laughter and suspense. Also lots of swooning because... Mace!! That man!!
Action packed and fast paced, I will be reading books from this author again.

HOLY COW!!!
VR has written another great book and seems to pick up not far after book 1 ends. We find Mason helping a woman whom he knows is high and forces her to his place to keep her safe only to find her bolting leaving behind a valuable piece of jewelry behind and sending her sister to get it.
Jess is tired of having to fix her drug addict sisters screw-ups and decides to help 1 last time only to come face to face with the man she has crushed on for the past 3-4 months.
Mace is floored to find Jess at his door, the woman he has wanted since he heard her voice months ago, the one woman he has wanted more than anything and the one woman whom he has already forsaken others for. Jess runs for the hills thinking the worst of Mace while Mace tries to figure out why she ran.
Finally Mace forces, well coerces, Jess to get together; only to be more and more drawn to her. Together they start falling for each other while Jess is trying her hardest to keep an emotional distance trying to hide her past from him. When everything comes crashing down and Mace takes the proverbial bullet for her, find out what happens when they see each other again and see if they can overcome everything in their way....
Great Job by VR for such a well written story that was so hard to put down. I can not wait for the next installment of THE NORTH SHORE CREW.

Wow absolutely enjoyed Break For Me it was a beautiful story with some drama! Loved Mace & Jess insta-love connection and all the steamy sexy moments! Still swooning over these two! Loved the amazing crew fantastic bunch of people! That epilogue perfect! Looking forward to Trav's story!

Break for Me
Well I was giving this ARC for an honest review and I think I made the author very nervous as she know that I am not a fan of suspense/romance novels.
Well I can tell her I loved it and she had no reason to be worried about it.
It is the second book in the series(the North Shore Crew) and I have read the first one....and I am hoping to get to read the third one....hint hint.
I laughed, yelled and then I swooned at it.
Mace is just so perfect and yet so flawed as well, Jess is scared to let anyone in as there is a very heavy past she is trying to protect but a chance meeting change both there lives and several months later they can finally find out what they have and where it may go. Be warned have some tissues handy you may need them....I used mine a lot.
Can’t wait for the next book in the series, Lie for me.

Book 2 in this series. Mace and Jess’ story is full of ups and downs. These two go through a lot to be together. Their instant chemistry is swoony. This story is an emotional roller coaster. Highly recommend!!

MASON FREAKIN’ WESTBROOK!!!! This man is seriously SWOON WORTHY! Mace was first introduced in Break for Me and I was instantly in love with his character. I was waiting for his story and it DOES NOT DISAPPOINT. It was SO MUCH more than I could have ever hoped for and there is so much more to Mace than I ever expected. I couldn’t get enough of this story!!
Mace and Jess are PERFECT for each other. There is an instant connection between the two of them and it is a connection like no other. Jess comes back into Mace’s life after he helps her sister and she leaves behind a necklace that means more than anything to her. Mace is rather persistent in getting Jess to spend time with him and to eventually go on a date with him. I love how seamlessly Jess fits in with the crew and how easily they embrace her.

He wants to knock down all the walls that she has built around herself. He would do anything to protect her, her sister and her niece. I mean THIS MAN RISKED HIS LIFE FOR HER!

Goodness!! This group of friends have me wishing I had people in my life like this, unconditional love and will do anything for you. I’m so wrapped up in them and loved this story!! So much struggle and pain but the story was incredibly told! I also think the title is perfect, some titles I usual don’t understand but after reading this one it’s a beautiful title.
I’m a bit obsessed with this group and with that being said I already knew I would beyond love Jess from book one! Jess is not only a fiercely independent woman but she’s compassion, love, family and hope. I loved her character and even though I got super scared at one point I just kept hope while reading! Watching Jess grow with the help of Mace made my heart and soul feel ecstatic! She was already a woman’s woman but the more she grew the more she realized beyond that concept!
Mace has been an interesting character to quickly fall for and I can’t describe my first reaction to his reaction to Jess, only one word maybe would work is giddy. The amount of love he has in his body for the people in his life is felt throughout this book!
I cried, screamed, laughed, turned on and couldn’t help to want to stop reading at one point. I was so far past scared, terrified at one point I wanted to hide from them. My only focus had to be hope but moment after moment that hope slowly started to fade. This series is a must read! You get too much from them it would be impossible to ever consider NOT reading this book! I can’t wait to see who’s up next!!! Congrats Vicki!!! I feel like you have grown so much from book to book!! This was phenomenal!!!

Not my first read by author, I also have read Book #1 from this series!! Hold on to your pants guys!
To say I was pleasantly surprised it an under-statement. I fell in love with this book from the start. If you have never read this author, she has a way of drawing you into the story and her characters… fit so well together and are relatable.
This story is UBER sweet, the protectiveness, the love and the passion…stthhaapp! Mace and Jess, no comment aside from PERFECT for one another! So be prepared to love each characters and the story! But, we always comes to that part because what would true love be without a twist of fate or some danger…. ALL THE EMOTIONS for this book, my heart might have broken but I fought it, also shed a tear or two!
Again, this author's characters and story is so relatable and real, it's insane!

I was so impressed with Gage and Lil, I was afraid the magic couldn't be captured again but Mace and Jess did not disappoint. When Mace first met Jess he knew there was something special about her and he began his "race to win her heart". Jess grew up on the "other side of town", the one most people tried to ignore. She held her head high and kept her nose clean and managed to put herself through school to become a physician. She also took care of her family when her parents did not but no one knew any of this because she kept her secrets and her struggles to herself. She was not willing to believe that anyone could take care of her so she let no one in. When she crossed paths with Mace again it was not for the most above board reasons and she was not proud of what she had to do. This story was so emotional and heart wrenching at times. I am looking forward to the next story from the North Shore. I know I won't be disappointed.

Wow.... seriously I thought Ride For Me was a good book, well Break For Me just took the North Shore Crew series to a whole new level.
I first meet Mace in Ride For Me and all I kept thinking was, I want a bestie like you, he's just one of those guys that you click with and you know he'd have your back no matter what and Jess, oh the lovely Jess, you get to briefly meet her in the first book as she's Lil's friend and boss.
Mace and Jess have an undeniable attraction... even though both of them are denying it to their friends... their journey isn't easy at times but it is so worth all the ups and downs that are thrown their way.
The characters in this series are all so relatable and will draw you into their journeys, you will experience everything along with them... there will be a lot of laughter, there will be the odd tears, there will also be a bit of swooning and at the end of it all you will sit there say "I could so be friends with these people" and you will be left wanting more of their stories. I can't wait for the next installment in this fantastic series.

Break For Me is the second book in the North Shore Crew series and this one will leave you with a book hangover that will take days to get over. Mace is a man with a heart the size of Texas and when a beautiful blonde claims it without even realizing it, he is done for and now it is time for him to claim hers. Their story is emotional, poignant, confronting and at times heartbreaking. Two people who are a little broken on the inside due to their pasts, must confront them head on to finally realize love and family is all that matters. I broke for these two souls and their story tore me apart at times. As lives were put on the line, The North Shore Crew do what they do best and they stand in unison to protect the ones they love. Mace and Jess will have you laughing, crying and everything in between. An amazing story that will not only make you anxious but swoon, fall in love and heat you from the top of your head to the tip of your toes. I did as the title said and I broke for them but in the end these two put the pieces of my heart back together.

I have to say that it took me a little bit to get into this one. I think it was just different writing style than what I normally read.
BUT don’t let that fool you, I did end up loving the story between Jess and Mace!
Jess was such a sweetheart and her love for her family made my heart just so happy. But that love for her family made her life difficult and made her end up doing things she doesn’t like to do. Then she happens to meet this gorgeous man when he needed help finding their friend. Little did she know he would turn her world upside down!
Mace knew as soon as he heard Jess speak that she was going to be in his life forever, whether she knew it or not, he would make her see. How could just hearing someone speak on the phone make his heart flutter. Then he sees her and it is all over then. Those bright brown eyes hold him captive for life. But could he keep her with all her burdens in life?
Overall this story was heartbreakingly good. Little hints of suspense and tragic moments but a HEA!

Starting Break For Me by VR Baucke made me feel like I was once again at home. All throughout this book (just like book one) I felt connected to the crew, riding their highs and lows with them.
This romance was nothing short of thrilling, all the broody hot men & the spitfire heroines all had me hypnotised.
Mace has found what he wants and he's willing to do everything possible to get it. After certain events, is he strong enough to fight for what matters most and will Jess finally admit defeat or fight too? Only time will tell.
At every twist and every turn I felt full with emotion; throughout Jess and Mace's story I was hit with excitement, mass amounts of swooning and warm fuzzies, crying over devastation & heartbreak, and last but not least laughing out loud so hard my husband was giving me strange looks.
VR Baucke has done such an exquisite job of bringing this novel to life.
I highly recommend this to all romantic suspense fans out there.

Loved every single page and every single line of it. The author has an amazing capability to give the reader a gripping and heart wrecking story that is full of suspense, action and sassiness.
This is the first book I read by VR Baucke but I wasn’t a bit disappointed as the author fulfilled my book expectations to the fullest - characters are lovable and relatable, with enough details given to get to know them and care for them; the storyline is catchy and with plenty of twists and turns to keep the interest lasting until the last page of the book and the storytelling is perfect.
Mace and Jess are ideal as a couple and they spark interest for each other the moment they meet, but unfortunately Jess has a huge baggage from her past that she doesn’t want or trust anyone to find out about and definitely with all the drama in her life at the moment she has no room for romance or love so she gives a cold shoulder for Mace. Luckily Mace doesn’t care nor is afraid of anything or anyone as he has some demons from the past he isn't proud or willing to talk about, but he is determined to do anything it takes to win her.
Troubled, broken and feeling unworthy they both take on a journey giving the reader plenty of action, humour, all sorts of feelings and swoon.

I've been trying to find the right words to do this book justice, I'm struggling - I really am.
Let me start by saying:
Yes, it can be read as a standalone BUT it does contain spoilers for Book One, so I totally recommend reading that first (plus Gage and Lil are just awesome).
I really enjoyed the personal battles both Mace and Jess (and even Ash) had to fight. For the most part, it was a sweet and lovely read but when the s#@t hit the fan.... WOW... It was a rough ride!
It was intense and I had no idea how it would play out.
Jess is a strong heroine - she doesn't take any BS and I admire that about her.
Poor, sweet Mace.
He is the sweetest...

Five Bright Eyes and Cowboy stars!
Another great addition to this series. I love Mace he stole my heart in the first book. He is loyal, arrogant, and very persistent. He is completely smitten with Jess when he meets her. And being the persistent guy he is she doesn't have a chance resisting him. He knows she's the woman that he's gonna marry one day. He just has to convince her. Jess is a hardworking doctor who guards her heart like Ft Knox. She hasn't had an easy life. She knows loss and doesn't want to make herself vulnerable again. I admired how strong Jess was and she is the perfect person for Mace. I love these characters and I could see myself hanging out with them. VR is a talented writer and she sucks you into this amazing world of zany characters. I can't wait for the next book! 💜

After reading the first book I was DYING to read Jess and Mace’s story! It is definitely an insta-love at least for Mace but he won’t give up hope that Jess will love him back. Around 60% through, things get CRAZY! You won’t want to put it down until your done. It takes you on a wild ride of emotions and twists and turns but the end makes it all worth it. So glad I got to read their story. 🥰

Break For Me was a great story. I couldn't put it down. The plot was strong, it was well written with many feelings. VR Baucke did a great job on it.
Mace and Jess were great characters, I enjoyed their story. These two were perfect together. Their attraction was instant, the connection between them was strong. They completed each other. They were good for one another. Their chemistry was sexy. Jess and Mace were great together.
This was a great story, I enjoyed it. I'd suggest reading it.

Jess does not have time for a man. Her sister, niece, and job have sucked her dry. She loves them to pieces but there isnt much of her left to give.
Then her sister goes and brings hell to her doorstep. Mace steps in and saves her but the cost is all consuming and life altering.
Mace is what this girl dreams of. I love everything about the characters. They are a close knit family that pull for eachother no matter what. Ths story is sweet and tragic all rolled up together.

Holy batman!
This book....it just sucked me in and made hard to adult!
5 stars is NOT enough for this book, 15 is more what it needs.
Mace and Jess on you both broke my heart at various points....but you gotta respect the alpha that is willing to do anything to protect the one he loves, while she is to stubborn and has been hurt in the past.
If you have yet to read this book, WHY? WHAT. ARE. YOU. WAITING. FOR? Just do it!

I loved Mace!!! Jess and Mace were instantly attracted to each other but Jess doesn’t necessarily believe his advances and keeps him at bay cause even though she is the strong nurturer of her family she doesn’t lean on anyone but once she finally gives in she knows she’s a goner and nothing for her is easy road. Good grief this book smacked me right in all the feels!
I LOVE the second book in a series because you’ve gotten familiar with the characters and you think you know stuff. WHAM you totally don’t! This is I’m categorizing a friends to lovers with a heaping scoop of hesitation and a side order of oh good lord more secrets!
I loved Mace in Ride for Me so I was ready! Mason Westbrook’s secrets are gonna shock you! Like no, Mace no way! Then make you love him even more as you watch the lengths he will go to for those he loves. The big ole bouncer cowboy with the soft melty heart.
And hold on to your seat as Jess’s story unravels and you’re just so heart broken for her. It’s just gone from bad to worse to even worser for her. You’ll totally get why she’s scared to let big ole Mace close to her heart. One girl can’t hold the world together-just let Mace in woman!
These two are beyond adorable together then Vic is going to smash your heart with a bunch of craziness and twists you NEVER saw coming! Throw your hands up in the air and say NOOOOO this can not happen! But keep reading you’ll LOVE the ending!

After enjoying book one, Ride For Me, so much I was eagerly looking forward to reading this book. Mace is such a loveable, interesting character. I was easily swayed over to #TeamMace then and ready to be lead cheerleader now!
I love the expressions this author uses such as-“...I didn’t care that I was ravishing that homemade pastry pot of goodness like a starved animal—“ The clear visual almost makes your own saliva glands start working overtime. And easily visualise each scene with clarity you can through the detailed descriptions throughout.
Once again there is a healthy dose of humour with fun banter between characters where they are often having a go at one another in a friendly manner. This balances the more serious elements in the story which are slowly revealed and I have to say with a smoothness that is admirable.
When the action heats up, you know that saying to yourself late at night, I’ll read just a few more pages, is going to be a lie because you simply can’t put the book down. My heart was just about leaping out of my mouth for Mace too. 😢

'Break For Me' is the second book in The North Shore Crew series and is Mason aka Mace and Jess' story. After enjoying 'Ride For Me' book one so much I was eagerly looking forward to reading this book.
Mace, his sweetness caught me, his love for his family and friends was incredible. His strength was inspiring.
The characters in this series are all so relatable and will draw you into their journeys, you will experience everything along with them. One part of the book my heart broke, it hurt and I cried. My fiance looked at me funny as I was reading but crying my eyes out.
I can’t wait to read Trav's book 'Lie For Me'. This series is a must read!

Mason f***ing Westbrook!!! Holy Hell!!! I knew from Book 1 Ride For Me he was a character you had to know in more depth and this book solidified Mace is totally, amazingly, sweet and bad ass!! This story about Mace and Jess was simply WOW! This story had it all and I was holding on to every word, page, and chapter hanging to see what would happen next. And seriously the crew aaahhhh no words! Such an amazing group of friends that had me literally laughing out loud at times.. I mean the mouthwash scene.. bahahaha..... I was waiting so hard for this book after book 1 and can definitely say it more than met my expectations. So much so now I have to sit here waiting not so patiently for Book 3(Trav’s story)... VR Baucke you are simply amazing!!!!
