okay this was by far the best book yet! Gryff really outdid himself in this book! Vall really surprised me in this book! This book was so well written and shocked me to the core! Vall should do these kind of things more often! I didn’t expect this kind of storyline to crop up! This was phenomenally well played on his part! I love Freya! What an awesome woman! The whole hawk clan was just great! I’m so happy at how the book ended too! Definitely a feels trip and I’m so happy that it was a touching ending. Vahla was awesome as well! I hope we see more of her! The hawk clan had some great characters in that village. I didn’t like how the mouse clan was treated but that’s how things go. I’m extremely please with the outcome of Miralea and I’m very curious about the new Archon developments. Will Gryff ever make it back to Varle? Or will he just continue on the road and come back some emperor 😂. Onto the next book!
Book takes a darker turn. Gryff has always been headstrong & impetuous, seemingly winging it as he fights , but without his friends he gets less empathetic in this one. Gryff gets separated at the end of the last book & ends up farther from his friends in an unknown land. Gryff meets the shapeshifters mentioned in previous books. He has to past some trials to get their help in getting home. But it seems certain aspects of their culture is overlooked; slavery & killing of children. Not sure if the Archons are having an effect on him, but he seemed more bloodthirsty as his power grew. There a scene that was questionably in the whole "women want to be ravaged thing" with miraela. There is a little twist in the end regarding his new lover. On the whole, the trails scenario drags a bit & I was hoping to understand the other shapeshifters & how they get their power, but entertaining.

Morally bankrupt rapist. Liked this series more when the MC wasn't such an arrogant, cocky douche and wasn't just handed everything on a silver platter. He doesn't even have to try anymore to get girls. It's cringe worthy. "I could just tell she wanted me." Oh he's also okay with slavery now? WTF? And the whole cheating the trials. How can you say you respect someone and their culture and traditions when you shit all over them by cheating your way through the trials? This book is probably the worst one yet. It was a struggle to finish this one.

Honestly the way this began was wacky and confusing, still not sure what happened. The islands and shapeshifters are cool and I like Freya. Gryff has definitely gotten darker since the beginning, with his willingness to just choose a side and kill people and just go with slaves being alright. I loved how the series ended though and can't wait to see where it goes next.
Griff gets thrown off course when a rift open over the sea and he returns in a hurricane.when he wakes, he is in a far land from his home destination and his friends are gone. He needs to cross a great ocean to get home, but must pass a bird clans trials before they do help him get a ship. And that ship is located in a rival clans port. Yes it's that much fun. Read in 1 day.
Honestly, this book may not be worse that the others. I just didn't like the type of story. The promise not to summon but secretly doing so. The whole scene with Miralea was very uncomfortable, to the point that I basically skipped it. The "surprise, you're married!" ending twist is honestly silly and kind of annoying. If you're going to have rules like that, they have to be introduced to the reader if not the character.
A wonderful change of pace and a great story. Felt like a vacation for gryff and much needed R&R. Wonder what will happen when he finally makes it back and introduces everybody to Gryff from Hawk Clan. Didnt realize that we needed a break until this chapter but glad it happened and I cant wait until the next book to continue the quest
Gryff gets separated in a rift and in a hurricane in the way home ! He ends up in the middle of a shape shifter war, has to subdue an Archon, complete trials for his survival all to capture a ship to get back home. That just an outline! Wait until you read the wild twists with new monster powers! Oh and the new hot hawk girl, what a great book! Bring on 14!!!
God I love how this story has grown! The world building is truly next level and incredible immersive. Gryf is one of my favorite protagonist and the other characters are great as well. I can't wait for the next Summoner!
This is my favorite series from Eric Vall. New territory and new peoples with new approaches to life. Excellent development with the summoned monsters, but I won’t spoil it.
Mild spoiler alert * * * * * * * * I don't see how he could possibly be defeated after gaining this new power. I'm not even sure he's mortal anymore. Great book. Nice romance. Not enough dramatic conflict, but perhaps he's earned a bit of a break.
The story was becoming stale but this book added a new twist to Gryff's powers and possibly a new queen and a princess to the harem. I enjoyed this book better than the last few and hopefully the story won't grow stale again.
New lands, new people and new powers! Books are taking a turn for the better with more of the world being explored, people and cultures... And the MC finding new ways to use his powers.
Full of everything that made the prior dozen books a fun and witty adventure, we continue to see more and more development of the MC and I cant wait to see where it goes next.
Gryff Gets lost in a hurricane while he's fighting a rift wakes up on an unknown island Helps a shapeshifter becomes a member of a clan of hawk shifters. What an adventure.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a fresh breath in the series. I am eager to read the next book. The story and characters continue to be engaging and incredibly interesting. This book is definitely worth reading.
Another improvement after the last few books. This book was a different set-up, with Griff stranded on an island. After saving a woman (who happened to be a princess), he's thrust into the conflict between shape-shifting clans with the promise of a boat back to the mainland for his help.
This installment of The Summoner is somewhat of a departure from the story thus far, with an ending I did not see coming. This series, like all of this author’s work, is excellent, and just plain fun. Thank goodness Mr. Vall is such a prolific author - there is plenty of work for his fans to enjoy.
This is a good book. You should read it. I like the story. The characters are fun. this is different adventure and much enjoyed it. Love new abilities.
Another installment in the world of Gryff.I am not at all surprised by the outcome of the book. I am anticipating the return to home and the other characters reactions.
