Finally a good Usborne Young Reading book!
Honestly, I've been quite disappointed because the box set I bought for my daughter contained only one story I liked so far (out of 6 - and I deliberately chose the ones to open we may actually like), but finally I found one which was good reading, smart stories for both the the little one and me. (The other was Alice in Wonderland.)
These 3 stories tell how the cat and the rat stopped being friends, how came monkeys were confined to trees and how did the crocodile went to live in the river. They sound a bit like African stories - unfortunately the cover never says anything about the origin of these stories anywhere, only that they are "retold".
