An author, a mother, a wife, a daughter, and a reader.

"I guess it's what the King of the Dead gets if he twitches his nose and toots magic from his ass."- Dyson Coleman

What a ride! Holy cow. Let's see if I can write a review that does this story justice while my heart continues to pound against my chest.

Disobedient is book 2 in the Rise of the Realms series. You MUST read book one in order to understand what's going on. It is not a standalone.

In book 1, we are introduced to the main characters and told their story. It's explained how they got to where they are, etc. In this book, the climax of the series begins to build and things, and people, start to come together. The plot thickens and the main problem becomes more prominent. Something's brewing and you are struggling to try and figure out how it's all going to work out. You are plastered to the pages, hoping and praying that everything is going to work out.

This world is vast, the characters complex. This story spans across five different realms and follows several different main characters. Now, one would think that would get confusing and hard to keep track of, but it's not. Ms. Fischer knows how to tie everything in together, how to change perspectives so smoothly that it's easy to follow.

The story pulls you in from the first page and it just refuses to let go. The tension builds and builds throughout the book. It's action packed and keeps you on the edge of your seat. It's an amazing story for anyone interested in Fantasy/Paranormal. If you haven't started reading this series yet, I highly recommend it!

I am completely captivated by the author's world building abilities. She has several plains of existence for her fantasy characters, and there are so many fascinating personalities to follow. Some of them demonic and others angelic. Some are shifters while others are elves. And the human realm is affected by all of them especially now that the witch, Katriane, has crossed a line that cannot be uncrossed. In fact, it's put all of the realms in danger, and where she existed in time at the end of the book is the last place a witch wants to be. Because of who she is, she may have to forfeit her life. As those who care most for her scramble to save her from her untimely death, the barriers to all realms are in peril of disintegrating. What would her death mean to all species? And what of those who fight for their right to simply exist?

Each character she creates gives us someone new to love or hate. The fear and uncertainty throughout the story is real, but the way she pulls humor and sarcasm into the tale had me laughing through tears. And the cliffhanger ending has me holding my breath for what comes next. I have no idea where she is taking all of the individuals she has created but I'm absolutely along for the ride.

KICKIN' IT UP A FEW!!!
Whoa baby. Talk about hitting the ground running. This is one exciting, fast paced, action packed, nerve racking, pulse racing, heart pounding, nailbiting, page turning bombshell that captivates from the start. All the twists and turns, ups and downs, ins and outs, along with a few unexpected surprises and circumstances that alter their immediate plans. Following along on their journey as things really start heating up. The characters are well developed, believable and complex. Their personalities are unique with qualities and traits that really pulls this bad boy together beautifully. The scenes are so graphic and detailed it's easy to see each scenario as they play off one another perfectly. Fischer did an excellent job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Fantastic job Fischer, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.

I've always believed that book 2 is the hardest book to get through as a writer and reader, but Fischer did so flawlessly. The story was clean, and it progressed well. The characters were once again fun and pleasant, and the development through the story was well paced. I feel like all readers can appreciate the plot, and how the events progress. This book definitely kept me hooked on the Rise of the Realms series, and very excited for what comes next.

This series is amazing! I love all the different players taking part in this epic story. It's a paranormal lovers dream come true. I re-read ROTR Reborn before getting into Disobedient. I strongly recommend this to brush up on what's going on. It helped a lot. So anxious for the next book..

Book 2 really dives into all the characters and help us travel along to see as things are falling apart and building toward something major. We get a more complete glimpse of each character and we learn how their lives will really start to interwine. I can't wait to see where book 3 takes us.

Disobedient

Oh this is getting better and better. I'm so ready for some Fee to die. somebody needs to teach them a lesson on protecting the people they are out in charge of. I don't want them to die quickly either.

I have mentioned before the beauty of D. Fischer's prose. One of the things I haven't mentioned is how truly vivid her descriptive passages really are. After reading many of her books I often feel as if I have watched them unfold rather than just reading words on a page. This book left me with that feeling. If you only discover one new author this year, you can't go wrong picking D. Fischer!
