Kara found out the hard way. Just because she did the right thing didn’t mean a god would give his blessing. Instead, it was the opposite when honoring agreements that grate against a god's wishes.
Now, she is on the run from Odin and anyone following his commands, and she finds herself safe in the wastelands with the wild dragons, or so she thinks. Unless she can find a way to be accepted back into Valkyrie school and not be imprisoned, her future is in peril.

~ "Fun world-building, a flight to the dragon wastelands, and a defying of gods makes Scorned a rollicking read. In this installment, you'll learn more about dragons, visit the wasteland, and discover just how spunky Kara is as she tries to avoid becoming a dragon's lunch." This book pick right up from where book 2 left so there is no time pause/lapse that could to break the narrative thread. After rescuing Elan from the clutches of greedy Odin, both dragon and Valkyrie in training Kara are forced to hide in the dragon lands. But even hiding there is hard when the dragons hate humans. And so those two will have to face the wrath of gods and dragons together.
I am not a fan of this series so far because everything feels "childish" regarding both the action that happens in the book and characters. But I felt a slight improvement in this book which made my thoughts be a bit better. I am still not a fan of how reckless Kara is but I did find the scenes between her and Elan to be lovely. The only thing that isn't ok is the book length, and book 3 and 4 could have been combined in my opinion, so we could have even more continuity
After Kara rescues Elan, they both flee to escape Odin's wrath. The safest place is dragon territory. But when other dragons scent the human, they are out for blood. It may not matter if it's Kara's or Elan's, since Elan is the heir to the dragon throne. When the dragon queen Eingana goes to seek an audience with Oden, it is up to Elan and her siblings to keep Kara hidden and protected. If only Kara would quit wandering off.
This story took place almost entitely in dragon territory, so there was little of the valkyrie poliyics that filled the previous two novellas. It was a nice change and fun to catch a glimpse of the world the dragons live in.
I received a free ARC from the author and have reviewed it willingly.
While trying to further their quest towards something good for themselves as well as the enslaven, this MC and her friends find themselves fleeing from the wrath of Odin. Uncertainty faces all of them. The scenarios this author chose to put these characters through flow wonderfully . I could feel the fear as well as the elation. Still very excited to continue with this series.
The third book of an excellent series sees Kara banished from Valkyrie society after angering Odin. Forced to flee to the wastelands where the dragons live, she soon finds that not all of them are as forgiving towards the Valkyries as others. Investigating the real impact of the 'alliance' on these fabulous beasts, as well as continuing Kara's story as she seeks a way to return to her school.
The focus here is firmly on Kara as she discovers how the dragons live and the grievances they have against Valkyries in general and the winged ones in particular. Introducing a few new dragons - some friendly, others determined to eradicate all Valkyries - this part of Kara's journey shows both her and the reader that her fight to correct the defects in the alliance and form a better bond between Valkyries and dragons to be a stand worth making, whatever the costs.
After 3 books (and the shorter introduction, Marked, which can be downloaded for free), this series has been of a consistent high quality throughout. Cope is without doubt the queen of young adult fiction.
can you say tenacious? woah. k, she surprised me again. nevermind if she's right, yikes, that's bold. seems like everything backfires, n just gets her in deeper. is she trying to start a war? throw in some justifiable devotion that's making everything worse, throw in mean girl stuff, cranked up to kinda crazy, mix in some dragons n angry gods. so that's a story right there, but if dragon's r yer kryptonite, then u gotta meet kara
This series keeps getting better and better! “Scorned” is a good read with an interesting character. Kara is a character to love and be proud of. Her bravery, intelligence, and care for the dragons make her an all-around main character to enjoy. Her personality makes the dragons want to protect her which is so cool. I love this series and look forward to the next installment. I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily
This is definitely another excellent addition to this series. Dragons and teenage drama all in one fantastic package, with great characters you'll be glad to get to hang out with.
*NOTE: I was given a free advanced copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. This has in no way influenced my opinion of the book, or the contents of this review.
