Temperatures Rising by New York Times bestselling author Brenda Jackson
As a hurricane hits the Florida Keys, Sherri Griffin and Terrence Jeffries are stranded together, making their own shelter from the storm—and walking right into the eye of a hurricane of passion.
It was a shocking experience that jump-started Brenda Novak’s bestselling author career.
“I caught my day-care provider drugging my children with cough syrup and Tylenol to get them to sleep while I was away,” Brenda says. “It was then that I decided that I needed to do something from home.”
However, writing was the last profession she expected to undertake. In fact, Brenda swears she didn’t have a creative bone in her body. In school, math and science were her best subjects, and when it came time to pick a major in college, she chose business.
Abandoning her academic scholarship to Brigham Young University at the age of 20 in order to get married and start a family, Brenda dabbled in commercial real estate, then became a loan officer.
“When I first got the idea to become a novelist, it took me five years to teach myself the craft and finish my first book,” Brenda admits. “I learned how to write by reading what others have written. The best advice for any would-be author: read, read, read….”
Brenda sold her first book, and the rest is history. Now a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, she continues to publish two or three novels a year, in a variety of genres.
Brenda and her husband, Ted, live in Sacramento and are the proud parents of five children—three girls and two boys. Now that they are empty-nesters, she spends her free time babysitting her two grandchildren.
When she’s not with her family or writing, Brenda is usually raising money for diabetes research. To date, she's raised almost $2.6 million. Her youngest son, Thad, has diabetes, and Brenda is determined to help him and others like him. She also enjoys traveling, watching sporting events and biking--she rides an amazing 20 miles every day!
this was the perfect refresher read I needed. Some things were outdated given it was written awhile ago, but the nostalgia of these kinds of romance books hit.
This is a wonderful book with a hero to fall in love with. I read this book with a previous title but read it again because Booker is a hottie. A great story that keeps you turning the pages. I loved all the characters but my favorites were Delbert and Bruiser.
There's also a bonus story by Brenda Jackson in here. Her books are always super steamy and just amazing.
First Love, Second Chance & Temperatures Rising was a good read by Brenda Novak and Brenda Jackson. First Love, Second Chance was a great read by Brenda Novak. Katie grew up in Dundee but left when she broke up with Booker. Two years later, she returns to Dundee pregnant and broke. She doesn’t want to see Booker when she returns to Dundee, and he is the first person she sees when she comes back. Despite the hurt that he feels for what she did, he takes her in when no one else will. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more by Brenda Novak. Temperatures Rising (Jeffries #2) was a good read by Brenda Jackson. Sherri Griffin is a successful radio producer who has had to weather all different kinds of storms. Nothing would have prepared her for DJ Terrence Jeffries. They both find themselves stranded together during a hurricane hitting the Keys. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.
I really enjoyed the characters of Katie and Booker. The book was well-written, engrossing and entertaining. This is probably my favorite installment from the Dundee, Idaho setting. I enjoyed watching Booker interact with Katie, because you could see his sweet side, especially while she was pregnant. I also enjoyed their interactions with Delbert and how protective Booker was of him. I will definitely read more of Brenda Novak's books in the future (This was #49). I have already ordered the next book in the Silver Springs series....
Brenda Novel's book I had already read under a different title. Still an amazing read for the second time! Brenda Jackson was a first time reading by this Author. Book was well written and I loved the characters and their chemistry. Found it to be a bit more steamy compared to Ms Novak. Great read!
Reading First Love, Second Chance was a page turner and truly worth the read. The characters and locals are extremely vivid and believable. Enjoyed it immediately immensely. Now Temperatures Rising was hot and steamy worth the all afternoon read. Both makes you want to read more.
This is actually two books, one originally named A Family of Her Own and Temperatures Rising, a bonus story by Brenda Jackson.
I enjoyed First Love, Second Chance which was a reread for me. I enjoyed rereading it. It wasn't a favorite but certainly something enjoyable. Temperatures Rising was new to me and I enjoyed it as much as the first book.
First reading from this author. I liked the story. Mistakes are made, but should always teach you something. A bought lesson stays with you once you pay full price.
Enjoyed both of these books. The first was a reread that brought back wonderful memories and friendships. The second was a great introduction to new relations
Is joyed listening to this story very much. I loved the interaction between Katie and Booker. Especially while she was pregnant with another mans baby. Booker was so sweet to her.
I loved the story, and the setting couldn't be any more perfect. Of course, raised in South Florida I'm biased. I really enjoyed the characters and the story line.
