Imagine living your whole life being blind and then you could suddenly see. Imagine losing your hand in a accident and then getting it back. This is the joy and positive affects bionics creates. Bionics are man made body parts and tools that function like the real thing. These genius devices help disabled people live a normal life. Like stated in the book Bionics by Judith Jango-Cohen, many fantasies have become reality with bionics. To start, the book is very interesting. One of the important things it talks about is the many uses for bionics. From bionic ears that make the deaf hear to a fake lens that can make a blind person see, this book does a great job of explaining how bionics help the impaired. Another important thing it touches on is using bionics for already healthy people. This really causes the reader to think deeply and ponder what other miraculous things our era is capable of. In addition to the book being very intriguing, it is also very well written and organized, in a way that helps the reader thoroughly understand the reading. It has chapters and sub-sections that make it easy to know what one is reading about. The book also includes an index and glossary which helps the reader understand new words ,and find specific parts in the book more easily. Also, to give a visual to the descriptive text, there are many graphic photos and pictures to add more understanding. For example, there are some pictures that show how a bionic leg is put on, and x-ray pictures of bionic devices in the actual human body. Obviously, the layout of this book helps the reader understand the book better, because it provides extra information and a visual for the reading. The author’s writing style is very interesting and makes the book fun and easy to understand. The author has a unique way of making the facts sound like a story. This was very helpful because it allowed me to see the book in a new way, and comprehend it as a story. When anything is read as a story, it is easier to remember, and the facts make more sense in the context of the story. This writing style really contributed to the success of her book. Not only was her writing style unique and good, was very knowledgable, and she sounded like she knew what she was talking about. All the scientific information and research was very thorough and informative. She really sounded like she knew what she was talking about and that she knew her facts. In addition to this, not in any point of the book did she make a biased remark. This makes this book a very reliable source for bionic information. Judith Jango-Cohen has a stellar writing style that contributed a lot to the understanding and enjoyment of this book. In this book, there are many things the author did well and also a few things she could have improved on. Although this book is very good, there is one thing the author could have improved on. She should have put in at least one real life example of someone who received a bionic device. This would be a good revision because it will help the reader to understand what happens to a real person when they go through the experience of getting a bionic device and how they feel about it. Other than this, I feel there is nothing else that should be changed in this book. This book is written so well that I think people of any age can read this book. Since it has a glossary, even younger kids reading this book will be able to figure out what the more harder words mean. Every one who reads this book will learn many important and interesting things about bionics, like what kind of bionic devices are available and what benefits they bring and will bring upon people. When they finish, the reader will have a good understanding of what a bionic device is and what magnificent things they can do for people in a bad situation. Because this book is so interesting and well written, it really gets the reader to ponder what other miraculous things bionics can accomplish in the future. All the bionics we have now started off as fantasies. If others become interested in bionics from this book, and ponder more ideas, who knows what else could become a reality in the future.
