I made a mistake.
A huge mistake.
I knew I shouldn’t have left.
The town.
My life.
Him…

Nick, my brother’s best friend, had me at first touch.
It’s hard to resist a hot doctor like him.
Even for an innocent girl like me.
He’s a perfect blend of muscle and brains.
And the way he trails his fingers across my curves melts me.
I’ve spent years in the big city, longing for him.
Now, I’m back in my hometown.
Back in the same place as Nick.
Working for the same damn hospital.
What are the odds?
The universe has pushed us back into a forbidden relationship.
Right in the middle of a crisis.
A lawsuit.
Well, it’s a good thing I’m an attorney.
I can make it go away in a second.

But what about the crisis that I have no control over?
Nick got me pregnant.
The last thing I wanted was an accidental pregnancy.
But could it be the only thing we both need?

Ajme Williams brings you a full-length second chance medical romance with lots of drama, angst, heat, a very sweet HEA and no cliff-hanger. ‘Our Last Chance’ is a part of the Heart of Hope series but stands alone. Books do not have to be read in order.

I liked this book, but the synopsis was misleading. I thought this was going to be a accidental pregnancy which it is not. She doesn’t get pregnant until the last 2 minutes of the book during the epilogue. It’s a medical romance. I would have enjoyed it more if I was in the mood for a medical romance and not a accidental pregnancy. It would have been better if it was an accidental pregnancy book with some medicine involved. This book was a medical book and at the end there is a HEA and she gets pregnant. I don’t like being mislead and it hurt the rating I gave this book!

Nick and Mia fall for each other while in college until her brother finds out. Now it is four years later, and Mia is coming back home to help her brother take care of their father. She takes a job at the hospital as an attorney where Nick is a Dr. When a special patient of Nick’s dies, he is heartbroken. Even though it is against the rules she comforts him, what will happen when sparks begin to fly between them again. Steamy chemistry plenty of drama and steam. An entertaining read.

This is the first book that I have read from this author and it won’t be my last. Nick and Mia were together when they were younger that is until her brother put a stop to it. Years later, they meet up again when they are both back in town and the chemistry and attraction from then comes rushing back full force. Loved them together. Great second chance romance. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

I was really torn about how well I liked this book. The good news: I enjoyed the story. There are a lot of "I'm in love with my best friend's little sister" books out there but this one had a good twist. I also liked the way the female (h) lead was a strong woman. Yes, she was in love, but she was also bright, had worked hard, gone to law school, and wanted a career. I love a small town romance and this ticked that box as well. Williams did a great job of writing a new story - a small town doctor with a big malpractice suit. This was a storyline I had not yet read and it kept my interest. The characters were well written, too. You wanted to slap them upside the head one minute and feel sorry for them the next.
The bad news.... the grammar was atrocious! A writer of theis caliber should NOT be writing "me and him". And where was the editor? Words were left out, verbs were in the wrong tense... it was annoying to read when those aspects were so prevalent. The other reason for the 3 stars was the amount of detailed sex scenes. I understand how a certain aspect of the story involved feeling numb towards life and getting lost in feeling with one's past love, but after awhile, it became gratuitous and redundant. It was possible to actually skip a few pages af the same descriptive sex in so many of the chapters and not miss a thing. Ajme Williams is a good writer. She did not NEED to write so many of the same scenes. It didn't add anything to the story.
Having said all of that, I will try another one of Williams' books. Like I said, it really was a good story. And it could have so easily been a 5 star one. Here's hoping the next one is better.

Four years ago Nick and Mia were in love and were going to start a future together but then Mia's older brother, Eli, caught them and threw a giant hissy fit. They ended their relationship and Mia went on to the big city to pursue her career in law while Nick went back home to their small town to become an ER doctor. Present day Mia comes home to be near her father since his Parkinson's is getting worse. She is hired to work at the inhouse counsel for the hospital that Nick works at. Drama ensues because neither one is really over the other.

I really struggled with this one. Everything felt forced to me. I am not sure what it was really but I just didn't feel like anything flowed naturally. I am all for steam in a book but it just seemed like that was all there was between Nick and Mia. I didn't really get an substance between them. The story line had great potential and I really respected that it was more than just a romance novel, the suspense aspect of the story was great but it was never ending. I am a paralegal and I know that investigations sometimes take time but Nick and Mia just seemed to keep saying/thinking the same things over and over. And then the blurb with the accidental pregnancy? That was totally unnecessary to have in the blurb since it wasn't even mentioned until the epilogue. Extremely misleading for those who jump at accidental pregnancy books (me, that's me). I feel bad with this review since I did feel like I needed to know what happened and was intrigued the entire time but it just didn't hit me with the feels.

Second Chance

I've been looking forward to reading this story. I really liked Nick and Mia although Mia was just hard to take sometimes. She was walking a thin line and sometimes crossed the line with Nick. And both took it personally. But I loved how much chemistry they still had and all those stolen moments!! Ugh and Eli was such a douche for most of the story, with a major issues. But I loved that nick stood up for himself with everyone!

Seriously hot!! Overall I really liked this one. Especially the ending!!

Our Last Chance was the first book in the Heart of Hope Box set which includes the first four books in the series. There was also an excerpt from the fifth book, Eight Long Years, which only whet my appetite for more. All the books had some steaminess to them but it added to the story. All were second chance romances but under different circumstances and set in different locations. My emotions were engaged throughout as I cried, laughed and even got angry at some of the character's actions and attitudes. The lack of communication along with the stress of jobs, careers, other pressures, family and friends played a part in all the stories. The books all had nice closure after many twists and turns along with their happily ever after. Ms. Williams is an author whose books I've enjoyed and I keep coming back for more. I enjoyed all the books and below is a brief review of each one.

Our Last Chance had a lot of angst in it from Nick, his ex-best friend, Eli, Eli's sister and Nick's love that got away, Mia as well as Eli and Mia's dad, Jim, who had Parkinson's disease. Jim was a voice of reason to all of them and always had them thinking. He always seemed spot on with his observations whether they wanted to hear them or not. He always has a positive outlook even if things aren't always perfect. Nick and Mia reconnect but not under the best of circumstances since it's at their job with a no fraternization policy. But will it stop them or will something else? There were so many story lines going on and a lot of anger and attitude that sometimes created a darkness Mia always seemed to be torn between her job, Nick and her family. Will she ever put herself and what she wants first? The story had high points and low points but all added to the richness of the story. I loved how the story plays out and the epilogue that takes place six weeks after the story ends. The happily ever after was nicely done.

lost love reunited

I’ve had this book on my TBR list since October 2020, and I wish that I had read it, as soon as I bought it. Like the couple in the story, I wasted a lot of time. I truly enjoyed this book, the writing was so good, and it had great characters, along with an original story.
Nick is one of the ER doctors at a small town hospital, and he is one of their best. Until the sudden loss of his former teacher, a teacher well liked by the entire town. Nick feels guilty because of the loss, and begins to have symptoms of anxiety, and confusion. The entire town blames him for the death of the teacher, and this just stresses him more.
Mia, is a lawyer, just hired by the same hospital, but seeing Nick, brings back memories of their previous relationship. She is drawn to him, and he is drawn to her. Their love, for each other, never stopped, and they begin a hidden relationship. The pressures from the death of the teacher, causes Nick and Mia to have an unstable relationship.
There is a lot of angst, sadness, misunderstandings, but above all, there is love between the couple and Mia’s family. After getting some therapy, Nick returns to tell Mia that he loves her, and she also admits that she never stopped loving him. After conquering all the complications of living in a small town, they finally reach their HEA, with a beautiful epilogue.
I’m not sure whether I’ve read any other books by Ajme Williams, but I have several on my TBR list, and hope that I can read them soon. I’ll recommend her books.

A Heartfelt and Emotional Second-Chance Romance

Ajme Williams delivers yet another beautifully written and deeply emotional romance in Our Last Chance. From the very first page, I was hooked on the raw emotions, undeniable chemistry, and the powerful story of love, loss, and redemption.

The characters are incredibly well-developed, making it easy to connect with their struggles and triumphs. The tension between the protagonists is palpable, and their journey toward healing and finding love again is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Williams has a way of weaving emotions into every word, making you feel every ounce of longing, regret, and hope right alongside the characters.

What I loved most about this book was the depth of the relationships—not just the romance, but the friendships and family dynamics that added richness to the story. It’s a story of second chances, proving that love can endure even through the hardest trials.

If you love emotional, second-chance romances with strong characters and a compelling plot, Our Last Chance is definitely a must-read! Ajme Williams has once again delivered a story that lingers in your heart long after you turn the last page.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sincerely Nikki.

The writing was not bad but the synopsis was so incredibly misleading. I wanted a fun little accidental pregnancy, but this was a medical drama with mutual pining. I did not really enjoy it, because it felt as though the same thing kept repeating over and over again, it was just a cycle of trying to figure out this malpractice case but the case and investigation were so slow and boring. I couldn't care less about the stupid case.

Marketing a book as one thing and it being something else is such a terrible tactic, because everyone is expecting that and ends up disappointed.

Also, the prologue was completely unnecessary because the scene is included later in the book, so what was even the point of it?

I really enjoyed the story. The fact that it was a second chance and that she was his best friends little sister. The obstacles in their way only made the ending that much sweeter. The issues with the lawsuit had me turning pages quickly to find out what would happen.
I don’t like the blurb. When I read it, it seemed to me that the baby that’s a surprise and *spoiler alert*, that has no bearing on 99.9% of the story, was going to be a big deal. It doesn’t even come to play until the very end. Why mention it? That grates on my nerves, not enough to not continue reading this series but enough to be annoying.

It's review time 🎧
Warning ⚠️ : medical romance, returning home.

Narrator score🎧 ; the Narrator's were great i loved them.

Level of anxiety and sadness0😱😢: you had some sad moments in the book. I didn't cry but it had it's moments.

The book itself📖: ok, the book was very good, I'm not usually into medical books, especially when a lot of the chapters are in the hospital.... but the story was good ad I loved it. I loved Nick as a character a lot and Mia as well her guilt of not being in home and living her on life felt very real and it was very well written, and fhe story between Nick and Mia's brother was good as side story as well. Overall I loved the book.

I enjoyed this book, there are a few best friend sister books about, so was glad that this book had more twists and drama than I have read before. I loved the characters, they were well thought out, Mia and Nick were great characters. I loved how Mia was the lead one really. I so loved the twists and drama's that were written in this book. Loved it was different. The storyline was well written and it was packed full of a bit of everything, drama, medical, love, romance, steamy make out sessions and a good dose of betrayal. Loved it. I've been on a lookout for this type of books for so long and I'm just so happy to finally have found it! This book gave me such Greys Anatomy vibes and I'M HERE FOR IT!

I enjoyed reading about malpractice in hospitals a d how it was handled. I enjoyed seeing/reading the behind the scenes between lawyers and the hospitals

But mostly I enjoyed Nick and Mia the most!
The spice was 3/5 it didn't take over the story, also wasn't the main drive of the plot
But damn they were hot!

Looking forward to reading more of her books

Four years ago everything was going fine for Nick and Mia until her brother found out about their relationship. Now she is back in their home town and working at the same hospital as Nick. When unwanted drama towards Nick and the hospital starts up, Mia is caught in the middle. When the dust clears Nick and Mia will have to come to rems with their feelings and their work relationship. Will things work out for them and will her brother ever forgive Nick for his betrayal.

The book was 3 1/2 stars for me because I had several issues with it. Several plots in the story were overdone, causing it to drag a but for me (the malpractice suit and the brother who blamed everyone for his life but himself - especially Nick). I loved the story but I thought those two storylines were relief to heavily on in the story. Also the book synopsis made it out that the main couple found out they were pregnant early in the story, which isn't the case. It was more like an epilogue afterthought.

The girl that played Mia spoke like she was reading the dictionary. The guy that read for Nick sounded like a frat boy. They weren't bad but I kept thinking that as they were reading and found it distracting.

Could NOT picture Nick as a blonde, I do not know why. I saw him as having dark hair and every time she said something about his blonde hair I was startled because I forgot.

The book was good but a lot of miscommunications which drives me nuts. Also, lots of repetition about how she chose her career over him (but so did he!). Lots of whining.

I DNFed at 52% which is really really hard for me to do because I usually finish every book. But this one was just not my cup of tea. The Nick and Mia are both so awful to each other. Nick says hateful things to her and rubs his pretty lawyer and other women in her face to hurt her. The awful way he treats her and she just lets him made me give up. Also there’s no accidental pregnancy, so that annoyed me when the synopsis was written to make it seem like that was the piece driving them together.

Ejoyable

I enjoyed this book. It was entertaining and easy to read. There were a few things that bothered me... it was repetitive, there were lots that could have been taken out as it was unnecessary to read the exact same thing from a different person.
Overall it was a good book and I liked the storyline. I think some extra editing could have helped.

The worst book I’ve read in years. Annoyingly repetitive and the blurb was deceiving. It was incredibly unrealistic and it was more about the death of an old woman (who clearly died of natural causes) than it was about a romance. Any type of research done by the author into medical malpractice would have improved the story, but it was clear that none was done.

Enjoyable

I read this because of the medical parts, but hard to imagine an ER with only one doctor and nurse even in a small town. Also the behavior of Eli and the towns people was a little exaggerated I thought, but overall Nick and Mia were hot together and I really liked the ending

Intriguing

When I went on a search for the next book . One did I want to read multiple books a YES!
Looking for a new author to experience is the greatest feeling especially when you dive deep and don’t come up for air . Page by page you want to know what is going to happen. Will it turn out well.
I’m thrilled to read your book and can’t wait for the next one!

First book I’ve read by this author and I am now on to book 5 of this series. Short, steamy read with great chemistry. Second chance romance, brothers best friend, but I wouldn’t call it an accidental pregnancy as it happens so late in the book. Nick and Mia are sweet together and considering how short the book is- it’s well written

The description of the book is extremely misleading.. and one of the only reasons I read this book was because I thought it contained some secret baby/suprise baby.... which is not the case until the last chapter of the book. Book was written ok but I couldn't enjoy it as much because the entire time I was thinking.. "when the heck is this baby going to show up?!?!" 😳

Storyline and Characters Were Great

The one downfall with this novel is all the errors. Too many sentences that didn't make sense or were incomplete. The story itself was actually pretty great considering.

This as a really good book and would have gotten 5 stars from me if there would have been a little better editing, and some spell check in spots. Other than that it was a real good story that I enjoyed reading.
