The Termination Protocol - a review by Rosemary Kenny
Scott Steletto's the CIA's agent of choice, when it comes to hunting down the maniac who's got the backing of a secret traitor in the White House. His plan to overthrow the United States government is told here in The Termination Protocol, the first book in the great new Scott Stiletto series, by experienced author Brian Drake.
Though on the gory side in his description of the many gunfights in the novel, (a detail relevant to the faint-hearted), Brian Drake's excellent novel is a 21st century spy-thriller that more than matches other all-action spy heroes, such as James Bond or Ethan Hunt.
The unputdownable, edge-of-your-seat thriller features non-stop action and in-your-face interactions between Stiletto and the villainous madman and his murderous henchmen, that will stick in your mind long after you've read the last galvanising page! Grab your copy today and keep your eyes wide open for the next intense thriller in the Scott Stiletto series, The Fairmont Maneuver - you'll love them both!
If you're seeking an action novel that's heavy on bullets and light on bloat, look no further than The Termination Protocol by Brian Drake. The prose is as tight as anything Lee Child or Vince Flynn ever put to page, but with quadruple the action. If you're a fan of the guns 'n' guts genre and that last sentence didn't get you salivating, I don't know what will. (Maybe giving away a free Glock with every book purchase?)
Drake is an accomplished author and he recently unleashed his latest creation, CIA operative Scott Stiletto, upon the literary world. Genre fans who ignore this novel deserve to be terminated like an ISIS terrorist wrapped in disease-drenched rags. The story rockets forward so relentlessly that it redefines the phrase "rapid-paced." Lean and mean is the name of the game here.
The most vital component of any action-adventure book is ... well, action (duh) and this one offers a plethora of gunfights. While not exactly a gore-fest, Drake definitely goes more graphic with the carnage than we typically see from him. As a self-professed action-splatter aficionado, I wholeheartedly approved. Heck, I think I even gave him a standing ovation at one point ... which was awkward, since I was in church at the time.
Anyway ... lest you erroneously believe that the book sacrifices plot in favor of all-out action, rest assured that a nifty plot does indeed exist, full of betrayal and crises. The bullets may blaze and the brains may splatter but the savage action is in service to the story and characters. No doubt Scott Stiletto will grow more fleshed out in future installments, but as it stands, he is given ample enough personality to make him a welcome addition to the pantheon of pistol-packing action heroes.
Bottom line, when all is said and done and boiled down to bare brass cartridges, if you like action-thrillers, you'll like The Termination Protocol. Even if it doesn't come with a free Glock.
This is a book to avoid at all costs, even though it’s free. I’m a huge fan of the genre but this is an insult to all the finely tuned nuanced characters who have gone before and carry on. Don’t bother with this one.
I have a new series that I have found and indeed enjoyed. The series is Brian Drake's Scott Stiletto books, and here is my review of the first book of the series' The Termination Protocol.' From the very first page, 'The Termination Protocol' grabs you by the collar and pulls you into a world of relentless action, cunning espionage, and high-stakes intrigue. Brian Drake has masterfully crafted a protagonist in Scott Stiletto that is both complex and relatable, making each twist and turn in his journey all the more compelling. As you dive into the murky waters of international espionage alongside Stiletto, you'll find yourself on a rollercoaster of emotions, rooting for him as he navigates through perilous situations with a blend of skill, wit, and sheer determination. The pacing is impeccable, ensuring that there's never a dull moment. Drake's writing style is sharp and vivid, painting each scene with such detail that you can almost hear the bullets whizzing by and feel the tension in the air. The plot is tightly woven, with layers that unravel with each chapter, keeping you guessing until the very end. In conclusion, 'The Termination Protocol' is more than just a military action novel; it's an adrenaline-fueled adventure that sets the bar high for what a thriller should be. If you're looking for a series that delivers excitement, complexity, and an unforgettable hero, then look no further than Scott Stiletto's exploits. Pick up your copy today and enjoy the action! Happy reading! Box sets are also available.
I started reading this book, found it interesting in the beginning. Then it started getting clumsy with a lot of players being introduced. Halfway down, it becomes so confusing that I left reading it. I picked it again only for the sake of finishing it and ended up liking it. I wish the author had better storytelling skills. In any book, there are a few characters the author picks who are pivotal to the story and we see the story from their eyes. Feel for them. But here the author has invested least in developing the characters. Even the protagonist Scott Stiletto wasn't developed well. The story is good. Shows the reality of the protests going on around the world and the real conspiracy behind these so called "revolutions". I'll give this author another chance for the plot alone.
The Termination Protocol reminds me of an Ian Fleming novel. Scott Stiletto is not a copy of James Bond, but he is close to that classic hero. Scott's boss is named Fleming. I love that. I recently read the latest book in the series (#5), and Scott refers to a torture technique used in Casino Royale. I am now reading The Fairmont Maneuver, the second book in the series. I hope to see additional Scott Stiletto adventures in the future. Thanks goes to Brian Drake for this well written, exciting series.
Really enjoyed this book even though it took me a few days to read. My 4 cats insist on my attention and I have to quit reading. Two sides against each other, and you get to follow both of them through their plans. One trying to destroy America by blowing up whatever they can, and the other side trying to stop the destruction. One of the problems is that they never know who is with them or against them. Even the trusted Government can't always be trusted.
No surprises here... the plot is predictable with the only surprises coming from the occasional ridiculousness of avoiding common sense, and overworked unbelievable scenarios. I got to the 60% mark and quit... I just couldn’t handle being yanked out of the story repeatedly to roll my eyes. Hard Pass IMO.
Think I’ve found another author. Thanks for introducing me this new super hero. Next book I think he should wear spiky heels I kept picturing him in them. Okay to be serious this was a good read with adventure, shooting and plenty of bodies. The baggage the hero has doesn’t consume the book. Thanks for a good book.
I'm always on the lookout for new thrillers. I was a bit disappointed with this one. Literally every character was out of Central casting. The situations were straight out of a cheesy 70s trashy James Bond knock off. I'll try one of the later books in the series to see if the writing matures.
Hard-Core, High-Enjoyment Entertainment at its Best! Drake knows how to draw readers right I to the action where really bad guys appear to have the upper edge! No whimsy approach in his fast action warrior tales where the bad guys aren't just eliminated; they're destroyed in a justified manner!

This is the first book and have read by this author. I found the book very captivating, held my interest and presented some interesting perspectives. I will be reading the next book in this series as soon as I download it....
Not particularly original but ticks all the boxes of a solid thriller. Good pacing, international flavor, dialogue a little hokey but moving on to the next novel.
A good enough story from a fun read standpoint but too stilted in its writing. Nearly every stand-up fight the hero attempted, he lost which confused me as to how he could be the superstar claimed by the author.
I don’t know why but I didn’t enjoy this story. One is the character description and background information was less than complete. Many things were beyond belief it was a hard read that left a lot unsaid.
This book kept me engaged from page one. The characters were complex enough to make them interesting, not cookie cutter stereotypes. The plot was interesting even if it seemed improbable.
As stated this is the first book I’ve read in this series and I enjoyed it a great deal. If Amazon it I’d rate it as a 4.5 as it’s better than just an average eBook.
Solid thriller! Lots of action and a great storyline! If you enjoy a fast-paced with good characters, this first Scott Stiletto book by Brian Drake won't disappoint! I flew through this one and I'll be reading more!
Not a well written book and not a realistic plot. I thought it was stupid and not authentic. I would not recommend reading this book. It's a waste of time. There are many better books in this genre available to read.
I liked this book. Scott Stiletto travels a lot and kicks a lot of you know what. From beginning to end was a lot of action. If you like action and a fast read, then you should enjoy this book.
