There are many things in our lives that are beyond our control...
However, you do have control over what you set your mind to, and how you react to things. Admittedly, this is no small or easy task. Finding happiness in every day life, may be an area that is difficult to cultivate but definitely learnable and possible with practice. The author does a good job in the introduction of explaining that looking to find happiness purposefully, is a choice and is something that should be pursued.
There are numerous daily questions, or prompts, the author asks the reader to consider and then journal about. The pages are small, so the reader would not feel over-burdened by needing to fill in a long page of empty lines. Some of the questions may be easier or quicker to answer, and some may require a little more thought. Each exercise should take no more than five minutes to complete. One of the purposes of this book is to give the reader new thought patterns toward a happier path, especially if they are prone to think negatively. This book is a useful tool that can be easily reflected on with your morning coffee, or even as a nightstand table or bathroom read.

This guided journal explores the meaning of happiness and how it can be unique to each individual. The journal prompts you to write down the things that make you happy, to re-imagine difficult situations in a more pleasant light, and to go after your own style of joy.
The journal questions include things like: "What is a hobby you've always wanted to try?" "Write about a time when a closed door led to a new opportunity that brought more happiness into your life." "Write about a time when you used your imagination to solve a problem." "Write down one thing you do regularly that makes you happy."
Some of the prompts are simple, and others are more complex, leading to deeper reflection. Each page builds on the previous lesson, guiding you further on a journey toward understanding and embracing happiness.
In addition to the journaling prompts, this book includes meditations, breathing exercises, inspirational quotes from famous people, and activities to boost your personal happiness. There are dozens of suggestions for simple acts of happiness!
Some of the activities are things like: Coloring a kaleidoscope picture with colors for each area of your life. Listening to your favorite upbeat song. Reaching out to a friend. Drawing a picture of what happiness is to you. Making one small change in your room to bring more joy like hanging a picture or lighting a candle. Hugging your favorite person. Do a random act of kindness for someone.
I love how the author encourages you to embrace life, manage your emotions, and find peace and contentment. The writing really meets you where you are, and gently guides you into a new way of thinking about your life.
The entire book is designed with bright neon colors similar to the cover. Each journaling page has plenty of blank white space for writing with a neon border around the edges. Quote pages and meditation pages are fully colored, making for an extremely bright page.
This book is simple and yet profound. I love it!

Happiness isn’t easy. There are times in our lives when it comes easily. Falling in love. Finding the dream job. Getting a big raise. Having children. But most days, happiness is more difficult. It takes work, and part of that work is simply deciding the happiness is important and is worth working on. So if you are someone looking for more happiness in your life, and you’re ready to do the work, then The 5-Minute Happiness Journal is here for you.
Based on the work of a licensed clinical social worker and on decades of research into positive psychology, this small but powerful journal is an excellent tool on your path to happiness. The journal pages all start with a thoughtful question to get you thinking about what makes you happy. As you find yourself clarifying the moments and choices that truly bring you happiness, you can build with those to find more ways to invite joy into your life.
Filled with some personal insights, lots of inspiring quotes, and energizing colors, this journal first encourages you to figure out what happiness is for you and your life. Then it encourages you to embrace where you are in your life, healing from negative experiences and moving on to better days. From there, author Leslie Marchand encourages you to get more engaged with the world around you, to build connections that are meaningful to you and bring you genuine happiness. And then she turns her focus to gratitude, so you can be thankful for the happiness you are finding and draw more of it to you
The 5-Minute Happiness Journal isn’t going to fix everything that’s wrong with your life. It can’t promise wealth or health or that all your problems will just fall away. But it can help you focus more on what makes you happy, so that you can live a better life no matter what challenges you face. It’s all about what you focus on, and The 5-Minute Happiness Journal helps you focus on the things that bring you meaning, joy, faith, and happiness.

My thoughts
This isn’t a very big book. It is colorful and easy to handle. I’m not sure if the price matches the content though. There really is not much space to write down what you might need to write down.
Also, this one doesn’t really stand out. There are so many books like this on the market and unfortunately this one can be group into it. Still, I am sure it will suit some people.

Great reflection scratch pad with lots of thought-provoking exercises. This journal was full of TONS of thought-provoking and reflective exercises, many more than I was anticipating. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Callisto Publishers/Rockridge Press and was under no obligation to post a review but was so pleasantly surprised how unique the prompts were compared to other happiness "workbooks" I've seen before. It had enough content that you could dive in for hours at a time or use it for five minutes a day over a long period of time. More than anything, I really enjoyed section two - Embrace Where You Are, which focused on embracing happiness as it exists in our current life.
I really like the concept of this journal and am looking forward to working through it. It’s broken down into four sections to help you figure out what happiness means to you and how to achieve it in your life. The only thing I disliked was the small amount of space provided for journaling. I’m a writer, so I tend to have a lot to say when I journal and prefer ample space.

If you like to journal this is an excellent choice it is filled with bright happy colors and sections with questions to help you reflect inwardly. I really personally don't journal but I really liked the questions and overall theme and feel of the book. I have given this to a teenager who struggles with depression and she loves it! I feel this journal would make an excellent gift.

Happiness isn't easily attained by all, but this magnificent journal may help you find it. I love the prompts, but my favorite part is the mandala just waiting to be colored.
This journal is a great tool for anyone looking to find more happiness in their life. Even the physical appearance of it is joyful. It's a nice sized paperback that would be easy to have accessible for daily use. I like the author's approach, that happiness is an inside job. The prompts cover everything thing from personal goals to relationships to connecting with the world in general. There are inspirational quotes scattered throughout the book that fit with the theme. The prompts are straight forward, and the author does a wonderful job of describing what you're doing and why. I especially like the focus on gratitude toward the end of the journal. My only "complaint" is there isn't much room for writing. I suppose that's because it's designed for writing for 5 minutes, but I'm a writer and I know I could fill it all up. I highly recommend this journal. I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
