Aiden

Finding out the man I slept with is my friend’s father is terrifying, but maybe forgivable since I didn’t know who he was… right? But falling into bed with him again… and again and again is probably not excusable. Maybe if Delaney got rid of his miles of muscles and stopped being so sweet to me, I could stop. I need to stop. If only I had the willpower—or the desire. Delaney is everything I want in a man, but we have no future together, so it can never be more than this. His sons can never find out.

Delaney

Serving time for a crime I didn’t commit wasn’t in my game plan, but I’m out now and determined to live my best possible life. After hooking up with a hot younger man, I regret letting him go without even his name. But then luck is finally with me, and he comes walking into my son’s house. In order to make him mine, I have to be honest with my sons about the past as well as my desire for Aiden. But Aiden’s fear of getting involved is deeper than he’s telling me. He’s hiding something, too.

Will Aiden’s fear of revealing his private life and losing his friends keep him from the man who wants to be his everything or will he allow Delaney to help bear his burden?

Liberating Love is the third book in the Interlocking Fragments series, but is a standalone novel. Each book in the series will feature a different couple, but the couples will show up throughout the whole series. This is a contemporary romance intended for 18+.

Michele is married to an awesome guy that puts up with her and all the burnt dinners she makes—hey, sometimes characters are a bit distracting, and who doesn’t plot when they’re supposed to be cooking? They live together in Baltimore, Maryland with two little monsters, a three-legged princess, a four-legged goofball, and a cutie with giant ears (aka their two kids, their two cats, and their dog). She hopes to rescue another cat soon, and if her hubby wouldn’t kill her, she’d get more than one… and maybe a few more dogs as well.

She loves creating worlds filled with lots of love, chosen family, and of course, magic, but she also likes making the characters fight for that happy ending. She hopes to one day write all the stories in her head—even if there are too many to count!

3.5 Stars. Sweet. Cute. Romantic. Fluffy.

Reviewed on March 16, 2020
Format: Kindle Edition

Liberating Love is an easy reading, sweet , age-gap , insta-lust, falling for the dad of best friend trope, contemporary romance story; told from both heroes POV.

Angst levels: 3 out of 5
Steam/Heat meter: 3.5 out 5
Drama levels: 2.5 out of 5
Humor meter: 3.5 out of 5
Romance levels: 4 out of 5
Will Re-read: Probably no
Recommend: Yes, especially to readers who want to read a fluffy, low drama, quick read.
Suggestion: Read previous books of the series; Liberating Love , isn't a true standalone.

What I liked:
👬 Aiden and Delaney, the heroes, are sweet, caring and good together.
💕Heroes chemistry and intimate time were hot and loving. Lots of cuddles and tender moments.

What I had trouble with:
😲At times, story was confusing and I felt , was missing lots of background story and perspective , from not reading previous books of the series.
😬All characters, main and secondary, had so many different nicknames ; I didn't know who was talking to whom.

What surprised me:
🙈The constantly blushing Aiden is a Police Officer but his shy, bashful and indecisive behavior makes me wonder how is he able to work at all.
🙊The recently free from jail Delaney, tells his two sons, three BIG life reveals, and they're like "wow Dad, really? Why didn't you say something before" next 5 minutes " they're fine with it and "who is hungry? Let's eat" was practically , how it played.

Thank you to Lyndsay (@ltcreadsmmromance) for the recommendation!

This was my first book in this series and the first for me by the authors! I enjoyed it but I felt as though something was missing. I think I expected more angst because the MCs were father and son’s friend, and ex-con and cop. But everything was relatively low angst with no turmoil between the two MCs.

This book does read as a stand-alone but I would recommend reading books one and two first. I think it would give the reader a better idea about the overarching plot (because I feel as though there is one - since nothing really got wrapped up with this cousin and uncle stuff) and it’ll build the relationship between Jameson and Holden and Drix and Gavin.

Overall, it was a really quick and easy read with low angst and mid levels of steam.

I’ve got to say, I’m glad this one didn’t tear me a new one like book 2. BUT don’t get me wrong, this one still has it’s heartwrenching and heartbreaking moments. Those moments that you don’t know whether to scream, cry or what. But it’s so good. The hurt is so good lol.
I knew with the awkwardness at the end of book 2, something was up with Delaney and Aiden, but I had no clue how far it went. I mean, it’s one of those situations where you know, but you don’t know. Ya know? It’s kind of obvious but you don’t want to make assumptions yet. But, I’m glad to see that this has happened. Delaney needed to know more people were in his corner after what happened to him and Aiden just needed to realize, that people actually loved him. And truly cared about who he is and what he’s going through. But it took someone like Delaney to show him that. With having to hide their ‘relationship’ and Aiden pulling back more and more from his friends, the strain was getting too much. Plus, with what Aiden was dealing with at work and home, it was enough to push him overboard. When an incident occurs with Jovany and Aiden and an informant, it’s enough to finally send Aiden over the edge. And only Delany seems to be the one to pull him back and calm him. And Aiden has to finally learn, it’s ok and let go and trust that someone has his back.
Sweet, shy, loveable Aiden. I was so happy to see him with Delany. They both need each other so dang much. For different reasons. With everything they’ve been through in their lives, they both needed and still need someone to validate them. Show them they are loved, no matter what. Show them they believe in them. Show them that they are family, they are more than enough. And it was heartbreaking to see for both of them. I hate so bad that they had to have that, because what they’ve been through, shouldn’t have been to begin with. But one thing I’m happy to see as well, is that the bigger family bonds that are forming. And there’s more to Jovany than meets the eye. I think he’s finally gotten a wake up call over the last year or more and I’m waiting to see how this all is about to play out. It’s about to get ugly in some senses, and for that I feel for Jameson, Jovany and Aiden. And Delany as well. But I’m hoping with the more things are opening up, Jovany finally finds what makes him happy as well.
This book is mostly about Delany and Aiden’s relationship and it’s growth. And it’s a beautiful thing, believe me. Both men start to bloom and blossom in ways they never have before. But it’s more than these two in this book. The family is growing and expanding. It’s not all blood, but it’s a family they choose and because of it, it’s full of love and support and it’s helping all of them cope and thrive in ways they never could have before. And knowing what they’ve all been through, it’s an amazing thing to watch. And knowing who’s story is coming next…..yeah, I’m super excited. I’m so happy I’ve gotten to be a part of this world. It’s a great one to read.

You can't choose who you love, who your heart is drawn to. Sometimes, you just can't choose...period. When that happens, the heart wants what it wants.” ~ Shayne McClendon, Embrace the Wild

One fateful night Aiden, of ‘Liberating Love’ by Michele Notaro, has a one-night-stand with a handsome, older man, Delaney, who is everything Aiden could ever want in a partner. Aiden is having trouble getting the man out of his mind and wishes he could see him again. Imagine his shock when Delaney turns out to be the father of two of his best friends!

With the help of his sons, Jovany and Jameson, and their partners Holden and Hendrix, Delaney is settling into life on the outside, after being in prison for something he didn’t do. He is looking forward to renewing his relationship with them and enjoying life in general. What he hasn’t had is time to relax and pursue his life as a bisexual man. Delaney decides to go to a bar to find someone to let off a little steam with. As Delaney looks around for a suitable candidate, he notices an attractive man with ginger hair, whom he dubs Freckles; he decides he wants to get to know him better. Delaney has to push a little, but finally convinces Aiden to leave the bar with him. They go to a hotel where the Old Man, as Aiden has named him, and Delaney shows him that he’s not so old after all. They both leave more than satisfied, but keep their anonymity.

The next day is Thanksgiving and Aiden has plans to feast with his friends. He knows that Jovany and Jameson’s dad has just gotten out of prison and is staying there with them for a while until he gets his own place. However, when he is introduced to their father, he almost faints. It’s the man he had sex with the night before! From his reaction, his friends know something is wrong, but he won’t tell them. Heaven only knows what they will think! Aiden stays for dinner, but it is torture. He makes an excuse to leave early. Before he drives away, Delaney knocks on his car window. He knows why Aiden is upset and comes out to check up on him. He asks Aiden if he is all right and Aiden quickly answers that he isn’t! He tells Delaney that no one can know about what happened the night before and that it can never happen again. Delaney tries to convince Aiden that there’s nothing wrong with what they did, but Aiden is adamant that no one can know. Finally, Delaney tells Aiden that if it is what he wants, then that’s how it will be.

I felt sorry for Aiden wanting to be with Delaney, but making so many excuses for why he couldn’t. He did have a lot on his plate, beside the just plain weirdness of having sex with his friends’ dad. I loved Delaney and his strong, nurturing nature. He was able to care for Aiden, to help him with his mom, and gently convince him that the issues between them didn’t have to stand in the way of their happiness. Thanks, Michelle, for another great story in the series. I’m looking forward to Jovany’s tale.

Liberating Love is the third book in Michele Notaro and Sammi Cee's collaboration series, Interlocking Fragments, and tells the tale of Aiden and Delaney.

Aiden has been on the sidelines in the previous two books in the series, but Delaney has recently rejoined the group. Neither man has had an easy ride of things so far: Aiden has a challenge in his family life he doesn't feel he can ask for help with, he's been bullied at work and he's convinced he's no future with the man he's falling for. Delaney has a past where he wasn't able to live his true life, then he was sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit. Despite the significant age difference , they find in each other the perfect partner (this isn't a daddy/boy book, though). Aiden is everything Delaney needs to navigate the life he's determined to live with his new-found freedom, whilst Delaney fast becomes the anchor Aiden needs to provide the security and confidence to ask for help and accept all the positive influences around him, like  the love and support of his friends.

All in all, Liberating Love is a sweet, tender and low-angst read (in fact it could probably do with a little more angst in places - Delaney's big reveals to his sons, for example) with likable characters. The blurb says this is a standalone book but, personally, I'd say it's best enjoyed if read in series order and I'm looking forward to the next installment of Interlocking Fragments.

Freckles

Green is the color of love. What a delightful and very Happy Thanksgiving for Delaney and Aiden. These two are on fire and although I may get burned it’s worth the risk to tag along for the sexy ride. I was halfway there already but after learning more about them I am so in love with Delaney and Aiden. Their kindness, love, and generosity made me smile. Both of their stories moved me. I felt so much while reading this book and my heart is overflowing.

I really want a hug from Delaney and Aiden, well, I want to squish him with hugs. I’m so happy he found his safe place. They’re both incredible people and they along with this book gave me the most wonderful feels. In fact, everybody in this fantastic series is no less than amazing. I wish I could bring them all to life so I could hug each one. They’re like a warm blanket fresh from the dryer. I just want to snuggle with them. There’s no other place I’d rather be. Sammi Cee and Michele Notaro are a dream duo. A beautiful story of love, family in its myriad forms and finding the person who gives the gift of being you.

All reviews are voluntary and my honest opinion.

I really like this series. The characters are well rounded and interesting.
There's some commradery between the guys working on the police force, and the bigger story threaded across the books has me hooked.

Liberating Love is my favorite so far, I'm a sucker for age-gap stories, and the whole ex-con/cop pairing is a nice contrast. Plus the whole best friend's dad trope. Yum!

Delaney is so sweet with Aiden's mom, and they definitely have chemistry. I recommend this series. 5/5

What happens when your random hookup happens to be your friend's dad that you never met?
What happens when you are a cop and he's an ex-con, fresh out of prison?

Age gap: approx: 20 years.
Cop/con, best friend's dad.

Each story is mostly able to stand alone but would be better read as a series in chronological order.

I'd give this one 4.25 stars.
Looking forward to Jovany's book!

Sweet age-gap romance with steam and a serious side: what a way to return to life on the outside😉

I felt this MM romance started with a real 🔥zing and then got very sweet and domestic and the drama I was expecting never happened. Yes, there's heat and the author tackles some serious issues like caring for failing parents and confronting possible prejudice against a large age gap between partners. Both subjects were handled well.

The story is otherwise low angst and lots of loving, caring connection despite young Aiden's reservations about his availability for a relationship, especially in light of Delaney's fatherly role in the lives of Aiden's closest friends and Aiden's caregiving responsibilities. The story's fine, just low drama for me and I felt it dragged on a bit in the last 25 percent.

I wish the author had spent less pages on the couple's friends and Delaney's sons' socializing. I did not read the earlier books in the series and all of the other relationships were somewhat confusing.

I would have liked more on the subplot about corruption in the police force and the mystery of who actually committed the crime that got Delaney sent to prison for five years. With so many of the characters believing Delaney was set up to take responsibility for a crime he did not commit, and many in law enforcement themselves, I was surprised they were not more curious about who orchestrated Delaney's conviction. Maybe this will be covered in a subsequent book in the series but, since this was Delaney's romance, it seems to me that here was an appropriate place to include it.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Ohhhh...Michele Notaro and Sammi Cee's Liberating Love, the third book in their Interlocking Fragments series, is fabulous!!!!

A hot hook up that ends up being your best friend's father? Yes please!

Aiden and Delaney are damn enjoyable together. A.k.a. "Freckles" and "Old Man," these two are hot from their first hook up, and get even hotter when they get to know one another.

Delaney's newly out of prison, trying to re-establish his life. His issues are well developed and well carried out. The reader is easily able to feel what he's going through. His backstory is extremely well done and very emotional. As for Aiden, well he just happens to be a cop. That's right, he's a cop who falls for an ex con. This definitely ups the fun.

Both men are worth a read, as Delaney's newly out of prison, has some relationship issues to work on with his sons, and finds himself falling for his son's friend. The conflict of best friend's father is well explored, with some good hesitation and doubts. But damn, with a connection like the one they have, they definitely belong together.

Aidan's mother has dementia which is explored in a sweet way. It's touching, emotional, and ultimately beautifully done.

Their relationship contains a strong connection, some hot sex, and lots of sneaking around. There's a lot of guilt, fear, and confusion, as well as family secrets and work issues.

The authors' writing is seamless, with two compelling characters, a fabulous story line, and a whole lot of heat. The characters are heart felt and their relationship is beautiful. As well, I am very impressed with the way the issue of dementia is handled. The authors definitely show a whole lot of care, compassion, and understanding.

Damn, if you love a steamy May to December read, you need to read Liberating Love. This Michele Notaro and Sammi Cee read is totally sweet and feel good and will leave you 100% satisfied.

4 Stars!

I've been wanting to read this series since the first book, Heart Strain, was released. While I initially started this one without reading the first two, I am glad I went back and read Heart Strain and Digging Deeper first. Even if I do think you could read Liberating Love as a standalone, I do think you get a much better feel for the characters and their relationships when reading in order.

Aiden is a police officer who hasn't been treated very well by his peers and supervisors. He is a total sweetheart and doesn't deserve the disrespect that he is given on a daily basis. Aiden appeared in Heart Strain, but we don't really get to know much about him until this book. Delaney was recently released from prison. He is ready to move on from the nightmare that his life became five years prior and ready to start his life anew.

I really loved the shy Aiden from the earlier books and was so hoping to see him embrace the friendships that he's slowly formed with Jameson, Holds, Gavin, and Drix. While I understood why Aiden was reluctant to get involved with Delaney, I was happy to see them spend time together and get to know each other. I loved that Delaney gave Aiden a place to unwind, relax, and feel safe. Delaney is an amazing character; I don't know that I would be able to be so forgiving as he was. I loved that Delaney has a support system and reconnects with his old friends as the story progresses. There was way more to Delaney's story than I expected, and I really hope that we get another book that wraps up some of the loose ends.

I enjoyed reading this one and can't wait to see what happens to Jovany, one of Delaney's sons in the next book.

I have not read the other books in the series, but that was not a problem for this book. It was very clear in Chapter One how various characters were related, what major events had gone on in the past and what hints had already been dropped about what was going to happen. The first chapter also has a scorching heat level that sets up our two main characters very nicely. It made their meeting at dinner where they realize who they are, quite humorous. It is also clear from hints dropped when Delaney and Aiden talk at his car after dinner that things are going to get quite interesting and complicated, particularly with Jovany. I can't wait to see what the next book holds in terms of certain characters' continuing maturity and growth and I really, really want to know who the ultimate bad folks are. Meanwhile, I just enjoyed the romance between these two men who have learned to hide parts of themselves for self preservation and I loved the way that together, not easily, and not without pain, they managed to help each other tear down their protective walls and learn to trust and love again. I am now going back to read the previous two books and have followed this author all over the place so I will know when the next volume comes out.

I absolutely loved this book!!! Delaney and Aiden met one night by chance and shared one insanely hot night together. Imagine Aiden’s surprise when he sees Delaney again at his friend’s house for a get together and then learns it’s his friend’s father!!! Delaney just got out of prison and is enjoying depending time with the people who matter. All he wants is someone who he can connect with and once he sees Aiden again he wants to spend it with him. Aiden can’t deny how Delaney makes him feel but is scared that no one will understand especially his friends and all of the responsibilities he has as home with his mom, surely no one would want to be with him. Delaney makes it his mission to show Aiden that he can be the man he needs all Aiden has to do is try. OMG what a beautiful story, I laughed, cried, and swooned. They both separately have went though heck and they deserved to be happy and have love. I loved this book so much and I highly recommend it to everyone. This is the first book in the series I’ve read and you can best believe I’m going to grab the other books and devour them!!! I can’t wait to read the next book in this amazing series...well done!!

"Liberating Love" received TWO stars.

The first few pages of dialogue were an obvious info dump, and if I hadn’t been so interested in the older/younger love interest of the story I would’ve stopped reading. Once the story got going, though I didn’t want to put it down. Delaney and Aiden were a perfect couple. I could’ve read fifty more pages on them and not been bored.

The novel gained *stars* for these items:

* gained for: “I thought about the book when I was forced to set it down and re-enter society."

* gained for: "I was sad when the book ended. I wanted more!"

The novel failed to gain stars for these items:

NO STAR gained for: "There were no info dumps, poor writing, or copy edit mistakes that jerked me out of the story."

NO STAR gained for: "The book caught my interest in the first five pages."

NO STAR gained for: "That's it. I'm hooked on this author. I will automatically try anything s/he writes."

This was a fun, sweet read and I quickly fell for Aiden and Delaney! I’ve enjoyed this series and was excited to see this combo, and it definitely did not disappoint! It wasn’t as angsty as I expected, it was sweet and loving and I truly enjoyed their story!

When Aiden and Delaney meet, it’s supposed to be a nameless hookup, nothing more. Neither man is aware of their connections. Once formally introduced, their hot chemistry is still there, despite the different circumstances. They just can’t seem to deny it and Delaney is set on proving to Aiden that they could really have something special.

I really do love this whole group and I loved how connected these characters are. Aiden definitely deserved love and Delaney was the very perfect man for him. Great series and I’m really looking forward to the next book, I just love these guys!

Aiden and Delaney were so sweet together. Delaney went after what he wanted without being pushy or overly persistent.

Aiden carried a lot on his shoulders but he never complained. Delaney was patient, sweet and gave Aiden his shoulders to lean and cry on.

Aiden and Delaney were beautiful together and I enjoyed watched Delaney, worm his way into Aiden’s life and heart.

Great story but at times, it felt like too much time was spent focusing on the family aspect, but not enough on Delaney/Aiden or corruption in the police force or Delaney and the circumstances that led to his incarceration.

*I voluntarily read this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*

Age gap, best friends dad

Delaney is Jamison's dad. He was imprisoned unjustly and is now struggling with dealing with his new life.
Aiden is Jamison's best friend as well as being his coworker on the police force.
A passionate encounter between them suddenly becomes more when they meet formally over Thanksgiving.
They seem to be the most unlikely match but opposites attract.
They have insane chemistry.
Both men are dealing with insecurities and fears which initially hold them back.
Aiden finally realized that he has people who love an support him.
Delaney was absolutely perfect and so fiercely protective of Aiden
Sweet, romantic story with just a hint of drama and a wonderful sense if found family.

What Delaney feel toward Aiden is lust at first sight and it lead to him being fuck buddy with Aiden and he wants more but Aiden felt reluctant at first because Delaney is his friends' dad. Delaney was so good with Aiden and Aiden can't resist the attraction anymore. Aiden has someone to lean on, being himself not Aiden the police officer or a son who's taking care of his mother.

And for Delaney, his life in prison must be hard but it makes him stronger and want to be true to himself not to pretending anymore. He starting over his relationship with his oldest son and his old friends. Forget to mention, I think Delaney has a freckles fetish haha

Overall, I enjoy this book so much and can't wait to read Jovany's story and I wonder if Seth will be his love interest!

I absolutely love the age-gap trope and this book did it beautifully! Aiden and Delaney were sweet and tender with each other, and so so steamy between the sheets. It was also less angsty than the other books in the series and felt more on the fluffy and light side - which I did not mind at all. And I think it still has the perfect amount of character complexity and emotional growth, as both Aiden and Delaney have their own struggles and insecurities. They complemented each other extremely well, and it was so easy to just get lost in them. I've enjoyed this whole series and this is a fantastic addition!

May/December Magic!!

I couldn't wait to read this book and was not disappointed. Delaney is absolutely yummy and him and Aiden together are perfect. They each have a lot on their shoulders and what starts off as a way to blow off steam quickly turns into something more. There are awkward moments for them due to their family and friends, which kinda overlap, but they find a way to make it work. Also I adored Aiden's mom so much she was so sweet and loving. Then also get to see the guys from the other books which I love. You know it's a good book when you love the other characters just as much as the main ones. Great read!!

The first book was just ridiculous. I have never had that word in my mind when i read a book but it just was very ridiculous with how many talks they needed to have about how much had gone wrong in their lives. I mean I didn’t even care what had happened to cause so much talking and you kind of should if you care about a book.

I skipped the second book. I started this because I liked the blurb but mannn... I had to skim so much and it won’t just end. It goes on and on and on about repetitive details and there is just no suspense and I think I am done. Don’t know why I even went through with this.

I really loved Aiden and Delaney’s romance. It was so sweet without being syrupy. I loved that the other couples got lots of time in this romance. I thought the story was super hot, fast-paced and sexy. I thought both Aiden and Delaney were simply just nice people that you can’t help but like them. Their romance was real and they definitely had a few things to get through, alone and together and I liked how everything was resolved. I totally recommend this book. I somehow missed reading Digging Deeper, but that will be corrected soon.

Lovely story

I really enjoy reading books in this series so far.

It's the kind of books that take you in and are with such memorable and lovable characters, you can't put it down.

I really love Aiden and Delaney was the perfect man for him. They fit so well together. Their story felt very organic and logical. Little ups and downs, but no crazy drama, just life and I loved it.

It was a great story that really warmed my heart and I can't wait to re read it.

Looking forward to the next book :-)

A great heartwarming story with just enough angst to keep you hooked throughout. Delaney and Aiden have an instant attraction and connection when they meet and spend an incredibly hot night together. Neither one expected for it to turn into anything more but they can't stay away from one another. Of course things are complicated especially when they realize that Delaney is Aiden's friend's father! Overall a sweet and cute romance with little drama. What an Amazing Series!

Michele and Sammi, both awesome writers, when working together, are outstanding. Their plots are tight. The characters wonderful. The romance beautifully written.

Once again, as with the previous two books in the series, you're hanging by a thread as clues are developed in regards to the ongoing mystery. Characters are left wanting. While others have found their soul mates. But justice must win in the end. And Jovanny needs an HEA!I

I'm hoping his story is released soon!

Unexpected and cute

This is third in a series of m/m modern romances and should be read in order! This review may contain spoilers.

This is the friends’ dad/age gap trope but (thankfully) not in a BDSM way. What I liked about this book is that the focus was not on the age gap but rather a whole other character-driven plot which was well-written! It carried over an underlying suspense from the first two books this should be read in order. This one was my favorite of the 4-book series!

Yay for Delaney!! I really ended up loving his character so much. He had a heart of gold, and I loved seeing him interact with his sons. Aiden was a fun character to pair with Delaney. He was so quiet and not one you would think would be a great fit, but Delaney helped bring Aiden out of his shell. I loved seeing Aiden brought into the family fold with all of the characters in this series.

It says this is a standalone novel, but I really recommend reading this as a series and in order. There is an overall thread of a story that is woven throughout the four books, and it is wonderful.

I love a May/December romance and this story was no exception, the blurb says it all except for loveable characters, humour, some angst and the chemistry between Delaney and Freckles (Aiden) was explosively intimate, I couldn’t get enough of them. The pages flowed, Michele and Sammi’s writing stirred my soul.

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book for my honest opinions of which I’m under no obligation to do so. I absolutely recommend this book and want more.
