{My thoughts} – I have become a huge fan of these books ever since I ran across you should Never Touch a Dragon a couple of years back. I have slowly been working on trying to get my hands on more of the series. I think it’s a colorful and fun series for children.

The cover is bright and eye catching and appealing. The texture differences that are on each page help to engage your child in more then just sight. The words and text are also formatted in different ways to help appeal to your child. It is colorful, fancy and fun.

This particular book is about bugs and it is written in a rhyme like pattern. It talks about the illustrations as well as how you should respect bugs. It shows children that really you shouldn’t touch them at all but it does it in a silly way that is sure to entertain them once they are able to understand the context of the words within the rhymes.

I recommend this book for any child that enjoys touching and feeling different kinds of textures. I also recommend it for any child that enjoys being read to on a regular basis. This book has the potential to become a loved book for children.

We have several of these "Never touch a" book and my son really enjoys them. For some reason he doesn't reach for this one as often as the others though

Probably my sons favorite book at 2 months old. He loves the pictures, words, and of course touching the animals.

This was my gateway into the never touch books. Really good, I like touching the spider, even though it says not to do it. These books are awesome.

I love these touch and feel books! I was hoping there would be more spiders inside the book, but it was all different kinds of bugs instead. The spider on the cover is my favorite!

Our little kids love this series. We got this one for Christmas. Not quite as good as "Never touch a porcupine"

Not a lot going on here. My son is way more interested in flipping pages right now than interacting with them so he agrees

10/1/25: Isaac likes reading this every day at bedtime for the last couple weeks. We don't get through the text--just him touching and pointing to the bugs and us identifying them by name.

Review originally published on my blog, Nine Pages .

This came out as part of a series of similar books by Make Believe Ideas: Never Touch a Dragon, Never Touch a Monster, Never Touch a Dinosaur. These books are bright. The textures, made of rubber or some rubbery substance, are unique. I actually like that these are just fun; there’s not really any kind of educational element to these. They are silly. It makes a rare change in a touch-and-feel book—in touch-and-feel books. I admit that there’s not a lot of maybe value to this, but I enjoyed the laugh, and I enjoy the textures.

I picked this up for my Kiddo at my Indigo store of choice at the recommendation of an amazing bookseller. My little man was instantly hooked.

The textures are different than in any of our other touch and feel books. The illustrations are vibrant and have lots of detail to point out and count. At this age my little one isn’t too keen on listening to the actual writing, but the verses on each page are cute and have some great words.

A solid board book that has become an instant favourite in our home.

This was just one of those "pass the time while waiting in line" grocery store books. It would be good for little kids as it does have funny rhyming as well as solid sensory touch to go along with silly pictures.

Love this book! A great interactive book with silly sayings. Purchased for my niece especially because she hates spiders so got a good laugh out of the title, but the book is excellent and my niece loves it.

My daughter loves these series of books. The colors are bright, and the book has touchable parts on each page that she enjoys feeling and keeps her interest. The story is cute too.
