Heart Lines #3

Dr. Bully and the Secret Baby

Rate this book
How to Ruin a Life, Part I:

Get drunk.

Hook up with a gorgeous co-ed.

Have an unforgettable night.

Try to forget it anyway...

...until Astrid Andrews' pregnancy test comes back positive.

And suddenly, her prospects for finishing college aren't looking too good.

How to Ruin a Life, Part II:

Don't tell the father.

Have a beautiful daughter.

And let the father's overprotective, overly wealthy mother step in with an offer Astrid can't refuse:

Walk away. Have her child, have her business, never bother the father again...and neither Astrid nor her daughter will ever want for anything again.

It's too good to pass up. Even when Astrid can't forget that one steamy night, and the man who shook her world in ways that had nothing to do with the liquor.

How to Ruin a Life, Part III:

Find out Dr. Wes Anderson is back.

All grown up.

And with no idea that the nine-year-old girl clinging to Astrid's leg is his.

Nearly a decade ago, Astrid made a deal. She honors her promises. But there's something distinctly dishonorable about the way Wes makes her feel--especially when he makes it clear he wants her back, and he's not taking no for an answer.

Astrid knows she should stay away. If she doesn't, she could lose everything--her business, the future she wants for her daughter.

But her baby needs a father.

And her body needs Wes's touch.

He's forceful. Commanding. Taking control of her senses, until she's making all the wrong decisions in all the right ways.

He's an absolute menace. It's no wonder she thinks of him as Dr. Bully.

But what will happen to her future, if she tells her doctor about his secret baby?

It was a very exciting story about two doctors who met in their med school and hooked up. How that hook up changed their lives? How they end up connected or disconnected to each other? That has been told in the book.

Back when Astrid and Wes were in college they were friends with benefits. After one night with a lot of alcohol involved they had an oops that would alter their lives. Astrid is pregnant. Not knowing what she is going to do, even her future hanging in the balance, she decides to keep the baby. So she has to find a way to notify Wes. Fast forward several years. Wes becomes a Doctor. Astrid opens her own Floral shop. However her shop is directly across the street from the hospital Wes works for. There paths are about to collide after almost a decade apart. Her secrets are about to be discovered.

This was a cute feel good book. You know the outcome before you even start to read it. Of course there are some seriously far fetched happenings. But it is the perfect novel if you are in the mood for something short and sweet. There are some typos and some editing mistakes. But it is worth a read.

Note to Author

I liked your story and I would have given you more stars but you really need to have your book edited. There were so many place were it should be “she” instead of “he.” I had to go back several times to reread it to see if I missed something. And I’m not a good at catching errors but I did find a lot in this book. You need to go back or have someone edit your book and fix your errors, then republish with errors free. Clean up the book a bit more before you put it out there for people to read it. Best of luck with future books. I look forward to read your next book.

Wouldn’t recommend

Lackluster editing as well as poor story & character development tanked what should have been a page turner. The story just didn’t deliver on what the title & blurb promised.

Astrid meets Wes. Wes and Astrid share a night together a long time ago. From this night, they create a baby. Following along? Great! Astrid doesn't tell Wes about the baby because someone else decides to "intervene" to help Astrid and Wes out. For years, Astrid has thought about Wes and we know that Wes still thinks about Astrid. He wants her back, but she can't go back to him. Why can't she? Well, that's the mystery and hence, "the secret baby" aspect of the story.

My thoughts: Wes is a really nice guy when it comes to finding out the truth and especially towards the person that created a bigger mess. I personally would've been livid, but Wes doesn't seem to be as angry. Astrid, for her part, took forever to decide whether to tell Wes the truth. Seriously, I was fretting that the book would end without her telling Wes. I was almost annoyed.

No cliffhanger and an HEA! However, there are still some tensions with the initial person that created issues. Wes and Astrid both struggled in the book at times with the weight of the situation. However, they eventually got it together. Oh! There's a "Dr. Bully", but I personally didn't think it was Wes. You'll have to read the book to find out more.

Astrid and Wes are college friends with benefits, but they're a little light on the friends part, and mostly working on the benefits. One birth control failure later, she's pregnant, but unable to get in touch with him. His mother intercepts a letter to him, and "convinces" Astrid to accept her offer - Astrid will get financial support for herself and her child if she agrees to not contact Wes or let him know about the baby. Ten years later, his career brings him to her hometown, working across the street from her little flower shop. She tries to stay away from him, but... I love this book - it's the best one so far in this series. Astrid and Wes have unbelievable chemistry together. Daise is just a little doll, such a sweet girl. I have trouble with both mothers. Her mother is so unsupportive when she gets pregnant, and his mother - well, what she did is despicable, and the word she used to describe Daise is just horrible. But the story and the love between Astrid and Wes - just beautiful.

This had such a great storyline, ok Wes was a bit of a d@ck when he was younger but even he had an idea of how he really felt about Astrid back then if only he hadn’t been such a prat! So Astrid made the best of the situation she was in as a young single mum without any help, and Daisy was a real cutie and turned out to be a really great kid, I really enjoyed the story, even though Wes was still a bit bossy when they first met again, but they got over all the hurdles and had a perfect ending 😁 would’ve given 5 stars but it really needed editing, but as it was an arc, this has probably been corrected for the release, great read 😁

I really liked this story and I wanted to give it 5 stars, but more editing needs done before I can do that. There are several errors, especially with pronouns.

This story felt complete and well told. I like Astrid and Wes's story line. Their situation felt like it could be real, with good details and secondary characters. How they handled Daisy was well done, the slow process was perfect. Their re connection was perfect. If there hadn't been so many editing and grammar errors that I just couldn't ignore then this would have been a 5 star story. Also I don't think Wes is a Bully, as the title suggests, but his mother definitely is.

SOOO this book didn't give me all the emotions or thrill me. It was a quick read though so that wasn't really a problem. The story line was pretty predictable and that was a small let down, BUT it was still a good read and it was a good book to read during my "me time" while the kids were at school and the toddler was napping. So that is why it gets 4 stars, thank you Larissa de Silva for helping me pass the nap time quietly with a good book!

Second chance romance with secret baby

It was a good second chance romance. Astrid and Wes are college student with a connection but label it friends with benefits. Astrid get pregnant and leaves college before telling Wes. She finally sends him a letter that his mother gets and they made a deal- she will support Astrid and the baby, but Wes must never find out. Years later, Wes arrives back in Astrid life and the secrets are unraveled and Wes finds out the truth. Ends HEA.I just did not like what happens when the secrets are revealed. It did not seem realistic.

Editing is bad

Who ever edited the book did a bad job. Constantly the wrong pronoun was used and the wrong word too. It drove me crazy. I took a star off for it. I also felt the relationship between the main characters was too thin to make it into anything but lust. Reading this book was a let down.

I had a great time with this book. The characters are well developed and engaging and the chemistry between them through the pages made for a great reading time. The storyline flowed easily page to page.

Cute story

This is a cute story with lots of potential. The story needs more details. The thing that drove me crazy was the need to be edited. He was used when it should have been she. I think with some fleshing out and edits it could be a good book.

The book is one of those quick reads and very predictable. The characters are developed nicely up , no insta love at first sight or things like that.
