The Accidental Girlfriend may just be my favorite Emma Hart book to date! I laughed so hard while reading this one. Emma has a certain flair when it comes to comedies and the things she comes up with a priceless! I can't remember the last time a book made me giggle as much as this one and I really needed it after all the heavy books I have been reading lately. If you are looking for a lighthearted romcom that will have you laughing out loud the whole way through then I recommend The Accidental Girlfriend to you. Emma Hart dazzled me with this one!

The Accidental Girlfriend is not only a hilarious romcom. It's also a book about a fake relationship , family ties, and finding love in the most unexpected ways! At the urging of her friends, Lauren places an ad online to be a fake girlfriend to those in desperate need of one. It's supposed to be only a one time thing to get her friends and family off her back about dating. But for some reason, she can't seem to shake the guy who she casually went out with. Is it because she was able to finally find a man who can take her crazy antics and sense of humor?

Mason doesn't need a date to his reunion but his sister is adamant he take a date anyway. Hence the reason she responds to an ad online for him. You see, he hasn't dated in months because his ex girlfriend was found cheating on him with her boss and she (along with her family) thinks he needs to get back out there. So he decides to do it despite his feelings towards dating in general.

When the two finally meet shit hits the fan and shenanigans ensue! You are not going to wanna miss these two as they navigate "fake dating" and the possibility of it turning to real dating! You will laugh out loud, smile, and fall in love with these two. Emma even sets up the end of this book in a way that gives us a little idea of what her next novel with bring. To say I'm excited would be an understatement- I can't freakin WAIT!

Read this one. It's a whole lot of fun!

Oh my god!!! This book was freaking hilarious. I doubled over I was laughing so hard. I absolutely love Emma Hart. Her books are always a barrel of fun and explosive entertainment. I got to say she did not disappoint with this book. Holy crap what fun!!!

During girls night Lauren is talked into putting an ad in the paper to pose as a fake girl friend, for one night only. Ok first off nothing good every comes from drinking and the internet. So imagine her surprise when someone answers the ad.

“Offering my services as a fake date for one night only. Got a wedding you need a date for? I’m a classy girl in public with a dirty side in private. How about a family get-together where you’re the only single grandchild going? This blue-eyed brunette with a passion for pizza is the one you’ve been looking for. Or if you’re heading to a party and need to make that one person jealous-I’ve got an ass you could crack a diamond on.

Contact me at lauren.a.green@gmail.com with your need.

And no, I’m not charging.

But I’m not buying my own drinks either.

Mason’s sister has done it again. Yep! She answered the ad in the paper so he could have a date to his reunion. Maybe he can let this girl down easy. I mean who cares what Claudia thinks.

Yep this was Mason’s thoughts till Lauren opens the door. Man she is hot. Maybe one date won’t hurt. Right? Have you met her?

I swear this book will have you laughing so hard you will split your pants. Emma has done a wonderful job with this fun loving rom-com. She is the queen of rom-coms and we are not worthy.

In this book her characters Lauren and Mason are perfect for each other. Both are single, not looking for a relationship and faking it to get people off their backs. Not only do they have the same goal in mind, but they mesh so well with their perfect personalities. Each snarky and funny in their own right. Lauren is a real woman. She doesn’t fake who she is for anyone. You either like her or you don’t and this is refreshing for Mason. Mason is a hot hunk of a man. Rugged good lucks and likes to get dirty. Yummy!! Together these two have such great chemistry and their story is sure to make you smile.

Overall this book is the perfect mix of fun and compares to Teagan Hunter and Janet Evanovich in the humor department. With a entertaining mix of fun loving crazy characters, you are sure to keep those pages turning. Nope you won’t be putting this book down. If you are looking for a fun yet sexy book, then this book is for you. So pick it up today. You will be so glad you did.

Favorite Quotes:

You know, if we were monkeys, she’d be the kind of person I’d fling my poop at.

This is why you’re single. The only filter you use is on Instagram.

“Give the kid a break, Nadia,” Grandpa Ernie said, wiping his mouth with a napkin and reaching for his whiskey. “He’s only twenty-eight. Men don’t have alarm clocks in their genitals like you women.”

It’s about time you got back out on the market before you go stale. Women are starting to date younger men, did you know that? I see it all the time on that celebrity channel with the housewives.

She was the kind of woman who’d run out of f*s to give by her fifth birthday and couldn’t care less what anyone thought about that. There was a chance we could be friends. I regularly found myself lacking in f*s. Unless I stubbed my toe, then they all came pouring out.

“I’ve got a list of grievances, if you’d like to hear them.” “Why don’t you keep them up your sleeve for now, Aunt Pru? You never know when you’ll need them.” “Quite right, quite right. I’ve been saving them for my speech at your wedding, but I’m starting to think you’ll never get married.”

Thankfully, that ship has sailed and sunk.

My Review:

This wickedly funny treasure was a total delight; my face got a workout from near constant giggle-snorting and smirking as I read. The characters were adorable and uniquely appealing, I was endlessly entertained by Lauren’s sharp wit and clever snark, she was a feisty and saucy minx. Written in my favorite dual POV, the crisp and engaging storylines sparkled with irreverent humor and impudent levity. I couldn’t get enough of it and rued reaching the last page.

I ate this story up like it was the last pie and nobody was looking. I about laughed my head off on the way. That may have contributed to the gobbling. Mason and Lauren were kind of perfect for each other and there was just enough friction along the way for them to exchange quips and take sides against the bad guy(s).

The story is super quirky, so recognize that your enjoyment may not come close to mine. Its personality manifests early, though, so you should be able to tell in the first chapter or two if it's for you. Lauren is prodded out of her comfort zone by well-meaning friends and her sister and a bit of a boost from alcohol. I liked that she was content alone and was sincerely not looking for a relationship. That morphed a bit in the later book but not in a bad way.

And I liked that Mason was roped into the fake girlfriend scheme by his little sister. It sets his family up as something of a foil for the plot to bounce against, and that worked out very well. And the Other Woman worked out, but only if you cut the story some slack and let her be as bad as she wants to be (and that's plenty bad). This is actually the weakest part of the story because it doesn't take long to question what the heck Mason was doing with her for that long. This is never adequately explained, frankly, and I think the author would have done well to cut that timeframe down a ton—kind of like I did in my head to make the story work.

So yeah, it's not perfect. But I laughed my fool head off and that's going to be a strong five stars when I only have very little nits to pick from there. Again, this is a strong personality so I recommend sampling first to see if you're going to gel.

A note about Steamy: There are a couple of explicit sex scenes putting this in the middle of my steam tolerance, but only just. They were a great illustration of the relationship dynamic and the turn to intimacy, so I'm glad they work so well.

4 Fabulous Stars!!

“Hugging Mason was like wrapping yourself up into a blanket burrito. It was like eating a pint of ice-cream on day one of your period. Like wearing sweats and no bra while eating last night’s cold pizza. Like rereading your favorite book or watching your favorite movie for the hundredth time. Yeah. He was just…comfortable.”

“I wanted to peel back the layers of Lauren Green and see what made her tick.”

I just live for stories like The Accidental Girlfriend. The kind of story that just cracks you up. The kind of story where the chemistry and steam just oozes off the page. The kind of story that just has you living for those will they/won’t they moments. The Accidental Girlfriend had it all and then some.

From the moment I picked up The Accidental Girlfriend, I was hooked. Lauren is the kind of girl that is just so cool, so calm, so comfortable with herself. She’s the kind of girl that is loyal to her friends and has zero filter. So, when her friends talk her into placing a fake girlfriend ad, I just knew it was going to lead to something epic. And I was not disappointed. Mason was exactly what Lauren was missing from her life. He got her humor and loved to rile her up. Their connection was off the charts and had a ton of amazing potential. I was glued to the pages of their story and couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.

I honestly just love fake relationship stories. I mean, you have a pretty good idea of how they’re going to play out, but there is just something about Emma Hart’s books that make me feel like I’ve never experienced this type of story before. I love the feeling her books give me. The feeling of laughing so much that tears come out of my eyes. The feeling of having my heart tugged at when you hit the climax of a fake relationship story. I live and breath for these moments and Emma Hart never lets me down. The Accidental Girlfriend made me laugh, made me swoon, and made me fall head over heels in love.

The Accidental Girlfriend was such a fun story. I couldn’t get enough of Mason and Lauren together. Their banter cracked me up and had me begging for more. The sexual tension was off the charts and the story incredibly well written. I loved the heck out of The Accidental Girlfriend. It was a fabulous read from beginning to end and was the perfect read to spend my day getting lost in.

The accidental girlfriend by Emma Heart was my first book by Emma Heart and it was amazing. The best romantic comedy I’ve ever read. I love Lauren and her sense of humour, I would love to have her as my best friend. I was hooked on the book on the first page, I knew right then this book was going to be amazing. It starts off with Lauren and her sister and two best friends on a girls night and the girls are ragging on Lauren for being single so they decide to post an online ad being a fake date. The ad that Lauren comes up with is hilarious, you need to have a special kind of humour to find it funny. Mason’s sister finds the ad online and emails Lauren to set up a fake date for Mason’s ten year high school reunion. Mason and Lauren are perfect for each other. They have the same sense of humour and get along perfectly and when they are roped into pretending to be a couple even longer in front of Mason’s family, they fall for each other and Mason’s family falls for Lauren. I’m still grinning from ear to ear that’s how good this book was. I can’t wait to dive into more Emma Heart books, if anyone has any suggestions on which one I should read next please let me know.

Lauren is a fun character with a crazy wild sense of humour. When her friends suggests she puts up an ad for a fake date she didn’t think anyone would reply.

Mason does need a date, but didn’t expect his sister to find him one. This is the accidental girlfriend. It has the quirks of Emma Hart written all over it.

Fun, fast and romantic steps to love.

I don’t know what it is about this author and where she comes up with her one-liners, but she always leaves me in stitches. She is my go-to author when I find myself in need of a pick me up, a good laugh, or something light-hearted. The Accidental Girlfriend fits that bill.

After being ribbed by her friends during a girls’ night for being single, Lauren posts a humorous ad on Craigslist offering up her services as a fake date. Unbeknownst to her, this little drunken escapade will lead her on the unlikely path to love when Mason’s meddling sister responds to her ad. Told from a dual POV, I loved seeing the witty banter between the two of them. The text messages were hysterical and even Lauren’s cat had me cracking up. Lauren is a confident heroine who has no filter. I loved her snark and sass and she is the type of friends that I would love to have in my corner. Mason was sweet and I like how loyal/dedicated he was to his oddball family.

True to this author’s writing, the secondary characters really make the book. Lauren’s friends and her sister were entertaining and I loved Mason’s batty neighbor. Like some of the previous books, Mason has a quirky, oddball family where the elderly aunts and uncles misbehave in outrageous ways. I found some of their antics to be a bit over the top (something that I come to expect in this author’s books), but I was also snorting coffee through my noise because well, you just have to read the book.

The Accidental Girlfriend is a fake relationship romance with a fun cast of characters and many laugh out loud moments that are sure to keep you entertained until the very end. I received this manuscript for free and I am definitely looking forward to more works by this author.

I love fake dating tropes!! I had mixed feelings about this one.. it had cute female friendships, banter and some crazy ass family members!! Sometimes cute moments between Lauren and mason..
It started out soo good.. what made me give it a low rating was well..

Took foreverrrrr for the "fake" to become real.. and the whole "i dont want a relationship" thing over and over again.. we get it.. both of you said it many times.. it gets annoying after awhile.. the next thing that annoyed me well had to be Lauren.. she was wayyyyyy to brass, stubborn, bitchy like she said she was a bitch.. i just hated it.. also.. she re-answered the fake dating ad since she forgot to take it down.. she said yes to another random stranger and brought her friends cuz she felt the "text message" felt wrong...why the fk would you re-answer another message??? What was the point of that?

Mason was cool nothing super exciting about him.. he was just cute.. i really wanted to like this story... :(

No om drama & ow drama (ex gf), no cheating, drama, secondary chara, mild sexy time, no virgins..

Emma Hart had truly outdone herself with The Accidental Girlfriend! I was smitten with Lauren and Mason’s “fake relationship” story and laughed out loud throughout the entire book! Their chemistry was fantastic, the banter between the two was probably the best I’ve EVER read and I completely fell in love. Lauren was a ball-busting, hilarious character and totally kept Mason on his toes. Mason was fun, sexy and a perfect “fake” boyfriend. This fake romance was anything but from the moment these two got together. I loved how this entire story played out and this is definitely a book I will be going back to reread again!

1,5 🙄⭐️s

I couldn’t connect with the characters, they were lacking in emotions and felt very dry. Lauren was so sassy that after a while it was annoying and not amusing at all. Mason was just ok, nothing more nothing less.
Both of them were in a mode of a relationship-denial, which lasted for so many chapters that was exhausting.

The rom-com queen did it again! Emma Hart is one of my favorite authors, and she is always my go-to author if I need a good laugh. She writes heroines like no other, and I almost don't care what her books are about as long as she has a crazy, sassy heroine filled with attitude and I am hooked.

And this book has that. The fake boyfriend/girlfriend trope is another favorite of mine, and I always love stories like this. From the beginning of the book, you were already laughing. Girls night for Lauren can get a little crazy, and I loved that it wasn't only Laurens that had all the traits of an Emma Hart heroine but all Laurens friends and her sister too. Also Masons family is even crazier than Lauren (How I don't know).

Masons are the calm, reasonable person in this book but he always give as good as he gets and I love that about him. He never backed down even though he knew he often would end up losing the verbal battle they had going on. His reactions to what came out of Laurens' mouth was often how I was reacting, and that just made him even better. He was sweet and funny but was also what grounded Lauren in some way. His entire family, on the other hand, should have a book just for their parties! They are amazing, hilarious, nuts, and so up in your business that you have no way to escape them.

So are you looking for a book with a family that will make you think none of your family parties are ever over the top again. A sassy heroine that will make your head spin with everything that comes out of her mouth. Some slow burn love with sexual tension from the beginning. And a good laugh then this is your book.

i don't know why i keep reading emma hart and think i'll like it if i keep reading more of her books? it's just outrageous, loud, quirky, special snowflake characters that are okay at first and then soon you want to smack across the head for being a child even though they're adults. I enjoyed the cat in this story though lmao

It was exactly what I were looking for.
A good time with lots of laughter and nothing else.

I always want to read something light and funny after some intense book and this one was a good choice.

The fake couple is a perfect match!
Mason was cheated before and don't wanna relationships anymore.
Lauren is funny and sarcastic, and doesn't wanna relationships just because. Her motives aren't clear other than she's a real crazy person, with a hard to deal attitude.
But guess what? Mason has that same attitude... See? A match!

Their exchanges were the highlight of this book! Both of them sassy, funny and really good with each other.

It was an easy reading... No dramas other then his bitch ex girlfriend.

____________________________________

Five "fake" stars for this romantic comedy💖!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is the first book I've read by Emma Hart and I've really, really loved it!

The storyline, the dialogues and the characters ahh, everything was such perfect...

Lauren became one of my favorite female's characters. She is confident and she'll tell you everything that she thinks no matter will you like that or not.

She remains me a little of me 😅.

I absolutely in love with her and Madson dialogues and their slow burn relationship.

I've enjoyed in every page of this book because I couldn't stop laughing from beginning to the end of the book.

I can't wait to read more books by Emma Hart 😍!

Highly recommended!!!

Accidental Girlfriend by Emma Hart is a fun and hilarious story told in Hart’s uniquely awesome writing style. Mason and Lauren were two great main characters who found themselves in a crazy situation that resulted in unexpected feelings.

There were so many laugh-out-loud moments in this story. Lauren was a great main character with some hilarious commentary. She was down to earth, funny, and intelligent, and I loved how she tackled the role of “fake girlfriend”. I loved Mason as well; he was such a nice and honest person with a great sense of humor. He had been burned badly in the past but still remained a great guy. The two of them were instantaneously so good together. Their banter was enjoyable, as was their chemistry. I loved reading the scenes with both of their friends and families as well. There were some great secondary characters who always added more humor to whatever situation they were in.

The pace of the book was spot on and so was the length of the story. I’ve always been a huge fan of this author’s rom coms. She combines humor and emotion flawlessly and gives readers memorable characters. While this was all true in this book, I found that the drama with Mason’s ex-fiancée to be not very enjoyable. There was just so much emphasis on her and her actions, both past and present, and I really don’t like when ex drama overwhelms the storyline. I loved Lauren and Mason as a couple and wanted to focus on more of them and less of the ex. That being said, I still liked the story and will continue to look forward to Hart’s upcoming books, because she truly is a fantastic writer.

The Accidental Girlfriend is Emma Hart’s newest hilarious rom-com. I know when I open one of her Emma’s books I am about to laugh my ass off and fall in love at the same time. With the story. With the characters. With the writing. The synopsis is perfect so I will try to make this fast.

Lauren’s friends and sister want her to date. Mason’s family wants him to move on. During friends’ night an Ad is posted online. One fake date. She never thought someone would actually answer it. Well, someone did. For their brother. And he wasn’t happy about it. That was until she made a point. A date to his class reunion would piss his ex off. What he didn’t expect was to like his fake date. Not enough to make it a real one but it was enough to have a fun night. That was the deal. One night. That was until he turned into a fake relationship.

She didn’t want a boyfriend. He didn’t want a girlfriend. A fake one or not but they were stuck. And if they were going to pull this off then at least it would be with someone that made them laugh. And being hot AF helped too. Too bad one of the rules was to keep it PG. Will they break the rules? Of course. But that doesn’t mean it can be real, right?

OMFG! Lauren is definitely hard work as Mason would say and I loved it. She doesn’t make anything easy and it’s one of the Things I loved about her. And Mason...oh, Mason. He is just as much of a smartass. A hot smartass with a crazy ass family. Together, their banter is hilarious, sarcastic, and sweet. It’s also flirty and so much fun!

Overall...it’s hilarious, sweet, sexy, and fun. The characters are lovable and real. I might just have a lady crush on Lauren. I definitely love Mason.

Quotes:

“Listen—I was on Craigslist—”
“No good story ever started with that.”

“Your mind must be a wonderful place.”
“You have no idea.”

“Is there anything about her that’s simple?”
“No. She’s like a little labyrinth. Just when I think I’m breaking her down and finding something out about her, a fucking hedge pops up, and I can’t go any further.”

I know all the reviews are gushing and saying how great this is, but it was just sorta meh for me.

The books that I have been reading in the past week or so have felt rather underwhelming and I’ve had no real urge to come here and rave about them. The Accidental Girlfriend is one of those books, sadly.

I don’t think that there is anything to not like about this book per-se; it’s a pretty decent - what I like to call - fluffy read – yet, it’s just not very original and I think that this is my main issue.

It did have moments that were amusing, but it did feel at times that the author was trying far too hard to make this RomCom work; the sarcastic quips didn’t quite hit the spot. And believe me, I love a good sarcastic verbal sparring session.

I liked our Heroine, Lauren and I did also like Mason too – I think that they made a great couple. Mason’s family (well the elders) were a little OTT though, and his ex’s behaviour was ridiculous. Although, these psycho ex’s exist, ladies – trust me !

Mainly I’d like to point out that fluffy little RomCom’s are not my usual read. Therefore it’s rare for me to 5 star these if they’re not spectacular , so if you’re someone who does enjoy this genre, I’m more than convinced that you’ll love this one and I’m just being mean, as usual.

SO MUCH FUN!

The minute I heard that Emma Hart was writing a fake girlfriend book I could not get my hands on this book fast enough. This story was sexy and funny and the amazing sisterhood in the story just blew me away.

Lauren and Mason were so much fun. I loved their banter and the Undeniable heat between them. This was another Emma Hart win!!

Here’s what I loved most:
Emma’s books typically feature great heroines who are very comfortable in their skin. This book was the same!

The secondary characters were a hit. Lauren’s sister and friends have such a beautiful sisterhood. I absolutely enjoyed getting to know them and seeing their shenanigans.

Mason is absolutely adorable. The perfect math for Lauren!

The fake relationship trope is one of my absolute favorites EVER! Gah this was so much fun!

Overall, this was a hoot and a half! Loved the quick wit and banter. It was no accident that I loved this one! Fans of Emma’s signature brand will fall head over heels for this couple!

This was fun .... until it wasn't.

Soooooo, I should probably explain a little. Lauren was .... hard work LOL And I'm not alone in my assessment because even Mason made sure to say that on more than one occasion. Lauren has opinions. She also has no filter. Lauren is a lot of things and all of them are OTT. And I am okay with that. I take no issue with people having whatever personality they want. However, a lot of Lauren's self deprecating behavior was just too much. So much, that I lost sight of the story on too many occasions because I had to walk away for a while!

One example ... in what Universe does a grown ass woman talk about her period with a man she practically just met??!! I almost gave up on this book, ya'll ... it was a lot. I have to be able to connect with the characters and I just couldn't. Honestly, I disliked her. And everything I disliked about her were from choices the author made. Lauren didn't have to be "hard work", but because she was, ALL THE DAMN TIME, I struggled to even care about the story-line.

I love a good romantic comedy, but this was something else. The premise was great. The story-line unfolded easily. It should have been an afternoon read of maybe a couple hours max ... it took longer LOL WAY LONGER lol

So there ya go ... my opinion. Do with it what you like :)

Sidenote: I'm not gonna stop reading Emma's work. I think she has talent and I've liked much very book I've read by her but this ....

***5 ‘Hard Work’ Stars***

I snort/laughed my way through the majority of this book.
I tried not too, but I did.
These characters, ALL of them, from Mason & Lauren down to Cara & Henry were so unique that I was all kinds of happy to just sit back and take all of the crazy in and was quite sad when I had to say goodbye.

I adored Mason and Lauren. ADORED. Mason is a really good man. Laid back (because he has no choice considering his family) charming (again, because of his family) and is simply comfortable in his own skin. Lauren is a force to be reckoned with. This woman owns everything that she is: the good, the bad, the loving, the snarky and the lack of edit button. She is definitely someone I’d want to be BFF’s with.

As for their journey to their HEA, it was a lot of fun. Low, very low, on drama and angst and high of humor and heart, from the moment Mason and Lauren met it was obvious they were perfect for each other. They simply flowed so well together it was fun to sit back and watch as they fought against their growing attraction and feelings for each other and failed magnificently at it.

The Accidental Girlfriend is firmly situated next to Four Day Fling as a top fav. This baby hit all my romcom buttons and then some. The characters in this one were all well written and just so much fun that I can’t even pick a favorite, that’s how much I loved and enjoyed them all. And I’m crossing my toes that we’ll see some of them again because there are a few that definitely deserve HEA’s of their own!

This book brings a whole new meaning to quirky, unique fun. Almost everything about it was different, in that slightly left of centre way. And I really enjoyed it.

Lauren was such a great character. I never knew what was going to come out of her mouth and what did never failed to surprise me. I loved her cat. And the whole premise of a fake date was hilarious when viewed through her crazy goggles.

Mason was pretty damn perfect. I loved that from the get go he was so upfront and sure of what he wanted. And as things happened he just went with it without second guessing or demanding the cat not sit on his head. He was just ……. Sigh

The whole book was the perfect mix of humour, sexual tension, amazing chemistry and great characters. And I can't wait to follow up with these two on their visit / vacation in the next book.

This was really cute. I do love me some Emma Hart!

The Accidental Girlfriend does seem like a book that I've read or listen to before. Yet, it was still equally as cute. In it, you will meet Mason and Lauren. Now it was cute because Lauren places an ad, due to some very persistent friends, to be a 'fake girlfriend" for those in need. Of course, Mason ends up needing one - according to his sister.

It also doesn't hurt that they knew each other and basically grew up with one another. She is his little sisters best friend. His little sister ended up "seeing" the ad and stating that "he" needed a date to a reunion. I loved this sister ever since I knew what she did.

Things escalated a bit due to Mason's oh so lovely sister because she started telling the family that they were actually dating. Overall, this book made me smile and laugh throughout the entire thing. They were cute and had obvious chemistry - glad it all worked out in the end.

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.

I always thoroughly enjoy an Emma Hart book, but let me tell you, this one has to be one of, if not, my fave that I have read from her so far. I have not literally laughed out loud at a book in a very long time, and this had me in stitches and trying not to laugh like a maniac if I happened to reading in front of others. At home, all bets were off and I was cackling to myself until there were tears in my eyes.

Lauren and Mason are just sass. The whole damn time. Holy moly these two just bounce off of each other and roll with it. From the online ad causing them to meet, the whole thing is out of theirs hands from the start, and the fact that they roll with the punches and actually enjoy each others time is really awesome.

But then things start to get weirder and weirder, and oh my gosh, this book is just pure gold. As they become friends and get to know each other with their fake girlfriend ruse, lord almighty do the antics come out. From Mason's hilarious family to Lauren's asshole cat Henry, I just enjoyed every damned second of this book and was truly happy as I was reading it. It just makes you smile and lifts you up.

There is also no miscommunication or angst in this which is a really nice breath of fresh air. The whole thing is just fun, fun, fun. A true rom-com, and one that's guaranteed to leave you in stitches. I highly recommend The Accidental Girlfriend and can't wait to see what comes next from Emma.

I laughed. More than once.

It's definitely a pro-tip to never put an ad, of any kind, on Craigslist. Especially if it's the result of girl's night and there was wine.

However, sometimes the ad works out, and the guy who shows up at the door is hot enough, and funny enough, and nice enough to make you want it to be more, and to be real.

Lauren is hilarious. Mason is a little more serious, but the best part is that within all of that seriousness, Mason likes Lauren for who she is, he appreciates her quirks and, really, that's the best thing possible in a partner...finding one that likes you for the person you are.

I laughed and I enjoyed this title. It's light, and it's a slow burn friends to lovers, which is similar to the other recent titles by Emma Hart, but it's told in a fresh and fun way that keeps it from feeling like you are reading the same book again and again.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

Fantastically funny
5 stars

I’ve enjoyed other Emma Hart books that I’ve read but this one just made her an auto-buy author for me.

The Accidental Girlfriend is a standalone novel that’s fairly short - at just 177 pages - but it really packs a punch.

Fed up of being taken to task for being single, a drunken sesh with her friends leads Lauren to post an ad on the internet advertising her services as a fake date. No money involved! In a roundabout way, that’s where Mason comes in, looking for a date for his high-school reunion.

So while it’s a well-used plot of a fake relationship - from the get-go, it’s got something different. It never feels like something you’ve read before. It’s fresh, interesting and it’s absolutely hilarious. Seriously - I don’t remember another book where I’ve highlighted so much of the text - or laughed so hard at the brutally honest, yet still hysterical comments, wit and banter.

Lauren is my spirit animal. She’s the kind of character that is honest, snarky, sarcastic and confident - and she’s written in a way that you just want to be her. I can imagine it’s very hard to write a heroine with those attributes that readers will actually like. Ms Hart didn’t just do that for me - because I LOVED Lauren. I want to be Lauren.

And Mason was the same. He was funny, sexy and the perfect partner and foil for Lauren. They just worked as a pair, along with having wonderful chemistry. Due to “the rules” there was a long time before the pair gave into their feelings for one another - but it was a ride full of sexual tension and, sure, frustration. For Mason, Lauren and myself! The sex was also fantastic in the book but, as we would expect, also damned funny.

There wasn’t a thing about this book that I didn’t enjoy. And not to get all deep and shit, but it really has a positive message about finding the right person to love the real you - sarcasm, sass and all. But if you go for misbehaving oaps, a$$hole cats, wickedly funny banter all wrapped up in a sexy, romantic bow - then I cannot recommend this book highly enough to you.

THE ACCIDENTAL GIRLFRIEND by Emma Hart is the story of Mason and Lauren.
Mason has been single for several months after finding out about his girlfriend's cheating. Now his 10 year high school reunion is coming up. Mason's family feels that he needs to get back in the dating world which prompts his sister to answer a add for a fake girlfriend. Lauren is a fun loving no filters kind of girl which after her friends prompting she puts a ad for a fake girlfriend. This is how Mason and Lauren end up in a fake relationship that doesn't seem to end...but their feelings are engaged now so maybe that's a good thing!
Funny and easy read... really enjoyed it.
