The thrilling post-apocalyptic series, After the Outbreak, now available in one complete set!
Could you push past your limits to survive the apocalypse?
After the deadliest virus known to man, law and order have collapsed. The surviving few are left to find their way among the ashes of civilization. Chaos reigns.
What if your preparations weren't enough? Nick thought he was ready. He has a lodge in the mountains in New Mexico, packed full of supplies and ammo. He thought he could protect his family, but the virus took them anyway. Soon, he finds others that rely on him. With everything lost, can he find the strength in himself to go on?
Could you face your greatest fears? Liz is trapped in Albuquerque. A dangerous battle rages around her, and she doesn't have long to live if she stays. The only way out is through the mountains, and there's only one man who can take her. But can she put her faith in a stranger's promise?
Only a few survived the outbreak, but that was just the beginning. Now they'll have to fight harder than ever to stay alive.
After the Outbreak: The Complete Series is the three-book series about ordinary people fighting to stay alive in an apocalyptic world.
Dave Bowman is a writer and native Texan. When he's not writing about the end of the world as we know it, he can be found planning for his future homestead or haunting his favorite barbecue joint.
Wow! What these characters go through in the short time period this series covers is pretty crazy. They just can’t catch a break. I loved these flawed characters. I loved that nick was a prepper who wasn’t fully prepared. I think their actions were often what anyone would do to stay together as a group and stay alive. There were a few things that seemed a bit like they were being stupid but we can all be stupid at times every single day. When the 3 show up and only take one set of keys I thought they were the dumbest kids ever. Narration was excellent.
I was voluntarily provided this review copy at no charge by the author, publisher and or narrator.
Nick leads his community to apparent safety as repeated traumas interfere. They develop a small community that faces near constant traumas with nearly no opportunity to develop sustainable living. A couple times the author switches characters mid chapter-very confusing, but overall writes a clear, fast-paced apocalyptic narrative. The constant hardships were too much for my taste but others will love the edge-of-your-seat pacing. In the third book, these apparently intelligent characters made repeatedly stupid mistakes which enabled more trauma. I found this irritating, making me lose respect for the characters.
I'm a huge fan of zombie fiction but its nice to see a virus that can end the world without turning the dead into ravenous killers LOL. Dave Bowman still manages to create a world that is even scarier than Dawn of the Dead.
As far as post apocalypse books go, this series is a winner! From start to finish the characters and the terrain they travelled was very realistic. The help the (good) guys gave each other is the way I think we all would like to have things go at the end.
