*Must Read Hoodwinked before this*

When Homer Skye, attractive as they come, leader of his pack, and the world at his feet, can’t seem to stop thinking about the mother of his daughter. Pia Milton. You know, the one that hid their child from him for two years, and lied about it. He doesn't know how to handle his sudden attraction. So when an old family friend tells him that this woman might have spiritually taken something away from him during that drunken one night stand. Something Homer didn’t know was missing, it could possibly explain why his mind wanders, and his smile is just a little wider when she comes around. Even if Pia doesn’t quite feel the same. In efforts to stop his frustrating feelings for her, Homer makes it his mission to take back what was stolen from him with the help of a little magic, and seduction.

After visiting a witch about her love life some years ago, Jasmine gave herself a deadline. To find true love, and to finally be happy, but after a magical night in South Carolina turned violent, she found herself hoodwinked into marrying the man who has hurt her the most. Percy Hugo Milton. The man the witch has proclaimed to be her soulmate in life. Now that the two are married, and surrounded by controlling manipulating families, they have to decide to either band together and go against what high society has laid out for them or continue to hate one another because no matter what? Their soul ties won’t ever let them break apart for good.

In this mentally twisted tale titled Moon Child, there are threats of family secrets being exposed that surround Pia. Exes that come and go. Homer coming to the dark, and scary realization that Pia might be the one he’s meant to be with. All while Jasmine spirals out of control with her heart closing to the idea of ever falling in true love, resulting in this twisted reverse of energy that can only happen when souls are meant for one another.

SOOOOOO WORTH THE WAIT!!!! A MUST READ!!!! I’m so glad I took the time out to re-read all of the other books before this one, it just made me feel like I was watching a movie series with spin-offs and whatnot...and who doesn’t love spin-offs?! This book was really exciting and I could barely put it down. I can’t wait for Charmed and Skye Fall!!! Even though the author says this will be last she writes in whatever genre it is, I think she’s really really good at it. At writing in general but especially whatever genre this is (her words), I think paranormal. It’s been soooo fun reading and re-reading these books. ALL of her books have again-ability. Never get tired of reading them and they’re just as hilarious as the first time!

Update: I just re-read and now I’m curious 🧐 what is Ben? 🤔 What is Ryan?

Another update from the 3rd time read.... still just as good. Still just as funny. Timeless...

On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being I realized my car was stolen– 10, I won a Lamborghini Veneno (worth $4.5M).

And with this continuation, comes the continuation of the drama and messiness. With new characters being introduced, comes more complications and more mess. MESSY BOOTS!!!

I'm a little bit pissed right now, I have to be honest. I didn't think there was going to be a third book in this series, and had I known that fact, and the fact that the third book isn't even OUT yet, I would NOT have started this series. But that's a good thing, because it means that I am still enjoying the story and the characters. It means that i'm enjoying this story and am very interested and invested in whats going to happen next and don't want to WAIT to know...

We get a little further into the meat of the relationships between Pia and Homer, and Percy and Jasmin in Moon Child, but there is still A LONG way to go.

Like the last book, I enjoyed this installment. The writing style is a bit better as well! While there were still a few fragmented sentences here and there, overall, the book was written in a less distracting way which allowed me to focus more on the characters and what was happening with them, then trying to mentally fix or finish sentences or pieces of dialogue in my head.

There were a few passages in this book that made me feel like "why?...what is the point". 4-6 page sections that I had NO idea of the purpose of. It felt like literary rambling instead of somethin to push the story along.

All in all, like I mentioned above, I'm REALLY enjoying this story and am super pissed that I have to wait however long until I get the conclusion. I hope its not too long because I do have a tendency to lose intersted in series, regardless of how entertaining I find them in the moment.

Second book in the series and definitely felt a little like middle book syndrome, but with new characters and heightened drama. Still a really great series and dear god Homer and Pia get it together please. Same for Jasmine and Percy lets go.. Im rooting for y'all despite it all. I feel like the main focus in this book was the development of Pia and Homers relationship. And although I hated him, I was happy to see him grow so much as a person in this book as well as other characters experiencing new changes and challenges. Luckily I started this series when all 5 were completed lol so on to the next one!

When I tell you I did not want this book to end!!!! I really love all the characters and the entire story line! I'm officially hooked. I read Hoodwinked 1st, but now I'm going to read all the others that were before it. I can't get enough of the Skyes, even the Miltons.

Drama and Ease

This book really speaks for itself. Read it, love it, hate it, then fall in love all over again with the characters. Yeah, this was some good reading drama and all with a little bit of magic. I was happy one moment, crying the next, while going through all types of emotions. Y’all gone love this one. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

This book does multiple POV and introduced another POV so it was like 5-6 POVs made it clunky. Second book is like the middle child you almost wonder if you need it.
Some parts in my opinion could have been streamlined. Interesting story line. Not really a fan how the families are connected. You almost need a family tree diagram in the front of the book. Reading the authors new writing it's so much better. More concise more background story building! Everything is so nuanced in this book, individuals have totems, magic is alluding in this book. No clear or explained magical system or magical creatures. The reader makes a lot of assumptions. It walks a thin line between straight fiction and fantasy. Also Homer is POSSIBLE comes off as very insecure and fataphobic. Some bigotry, ableism, trauma. Sometimes you wanted the story to finish a piece before going to another POV often unresolved feelings and slow pacing. The author has a lot of biases it’s hard to identify one healthy relationship in this .

Moon Child 🌙-Let me say this is the perfect follow up to Hoodwinked. Homer and Pia although they are not the only two characters, I would say read this book just to explore these two. Amazing word play throughout that draws you into the world of each characters, I must say that Desireé has done it perfectly. Part 2 of an amazing series within a series. Great work again!! 5 stars 🌟

Why the tease

I was surprised the Author did not just complete this story. Desiree can spin endless Skye tales..I just felt like this story was everywhere..like who EXACTLY is Ama Mae? Is she also a Skye? Jasmine Seems to have magic also..what's the deal with that. Hurry up..We need Charmed..like NOWW.

Overall:
This felt like a book 2 in a sense you had book one for the mess to pile up and here it’s smoothing over. I think all of the people are playing their role in what Delilah has orchestrated but I want to know what is her purpose of puppet mastering all of this. I like how the end although left on a small cliff hanger I would be ok if it was the ending but I’m thankful it’s not because I definitely wanted more. I like how people are being officially grouped together.

Couple/character break downs: (a few that I want to speak on)

Homer and Pia:
I have been rooting for them silently. Pia needs the protection, structure and love that Homer has. Although Homer hates her feisty moments he needs it because everyone strokes his ego and kisses his butt. He needs push back. I think he got his moon back from Pia because my mans was putting in work till 4 am.

Jasmine and Percy:
No matter what Jasmine doesn’t want everything is working out for her to get exactly what was planned for her. I do like that Percy is see the therapist but I’m more curious to know if they are also magical because that last recommendation for him was spot on. A couple of things that have been on my mind: 1) what did they see in that field 2) why doesn’t she leave since she hates everything about her set up

Delilah and Ben:
They are so cute in their hippie way. I was wondering what made them connect and now I see it’s because Ben is also the same as her in a different way. I love that she named her baby Yuma because from the moment her mom and him were introduced I felt that it was her dad. I think Delilah needs to focus on herself but she’s too wrapped up in what’s going on to pull out now. I love that she also says let’s get this story moving along because I be in my mind saying the same. I love how Ben is chill but don’t play about or with anyone about his wife.

Fran and Piru:
They have their things. Both of their families are fucked but they find peace in each other. I think they will be good

Michael and Ryan:
I’m glad he met her. Just like his brother with Pia, he needed her. All that hoodoo don’t work on her and the spirits don’t mess with Ryan. She made him own up and be about his business when it comes to her. I’m glad that they found each other but I think he is going to pull her to the deep end and she will be what saves him.

Eliza and Milton:
2 words …. AINT SHIT!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Talk yo sh!t!

Okay Homer! I absolutely love Pia and Homer. Their scenes and the scenes with the kids were the best. I only gave a 3 star because it seems these couples have been going round and round forever. I love most of the characters but at this point, I’m ready for things to move forward. I love Ben but I’m not feeling Delilah at all, never have. I’m glad she has Ben though to balance her because without him, I feel her arrogance would have destroyed some of these people. I’m not a Percy and Jasmine fan, so I really don’t care about their story. I love seeing Kenny and Carol popping in. I wish we could get more of Trinity. In one blog, wasn’t she pregnant? I would love to see how she handles that. I love the bromance too with Homer, Michael, Tucker, Jason and it seem Piru and Percy are getting in there too. I’m happy for Piru, he needs a few friends. This was probably the only scene I cared for Percy in, showing a different side. I still don’t care if him and Jasmine work or not though. I feel their mates could have been interchangeable with anyone. I’m sure their connection will grow but I think it’s to late for me to care.

I love Desiree’s writing though. She is one of my favorite writers.

LOVED IT

Had this book since it first dropped but I just didn't get the courage to read until now. And boy was it worth it. I love Desiree's writing style because her stories draw you in feeling everything these characters say and do. You just can't help but feel as though you know them personally. Her stories pick up where they left off so it doesn't feel like you missed anything and that's what I love about her books when she puts a series together. Hoodwinked had us in awe but Moon Child is the book that will have you rooting for happy endings while also praising those who have finally found their voice. Not giving away too much. But I will say, this is must read and can't wait to start Charmed to see what's in store for these characters we love and some we hate.

Great writing!

This author, Desiree, is so gifted! I am back with the characters I have grown to love. Paying attention to the author's notes, I find myself in agreement: 1.This is something I would love to see as a movie or tv series, 2. Yes, there are characters I both love and hate. I cheer for them and get so salty when they do what I think is a wrong choice. I love the mysticism in the books and I am cheering for everyone to be happy. The writing was so great in painting great intimacy, vulnerability and the fear of sharing so deeply. I been touched to tears, pissed off, and hollering in laughter! These books, this is book 2, are so good and glad I'm on the journey reading this series.

let me @ them!

I swear these men in the book had me ready to come through the pages @ them. Jasmine did irk me with her weakness but Percy surprised me @ the end. Kinda had me reconsidering but not all the way. I h8 the way Pia is always brought down by her mom and Homer. It was good he saw the other side so he could man up and stop that. That darn Delilah lol she always meddling. Ben better wake up and stop her. I still wanna know what’s up with Pia seeing ol boy in the mirror. Had me confused for a min until the ending where maybe her future was messed with?? We shall see..

the plot defiantly holds your attention

The plot defiantly holds your attention and leaves you wanting more. The deeper you get into the story, you realize how f'd up everyone is. After 2 books i still have an feel for who Jasmine is a person hopefully we can see something more from her. I’m glad to see some growth in Percy and Homer though it seems like it’s too. Just like a man to use up all your patience’s and grace and then wanna do right by you. What i really enjoyed about the story and the details and information about their practices and believes it’s really interesting

Enjoyed it

I enjoyed this book, I don't know if I want to slap Homer or hug him right now I am leaning towards hugging him that chapter with him and Pia? Moving on, Percy, I want to feel bad for him and Jasmine but I don't. I would love to read more about Michael and Ryan, this series is so deep there is so much story that can be told and so many colorful characters in South Carolina. This is a soap opera in the best possible way, I am just going to end this by saying I recommend this book.

Another 1 🗣

Yet again, I love how the characters develop. My favorite by far is Homer & Pia. I also love that the stories introduces readers to the other side of the game. A lot of ppl have been made to appear crazy, discredited, black balled, shadow banned & more just exploring knowledge outside of standardized beliefs. This entire body of art is so refreshing and funny asf. I laugh fr at some of the smallest relatable context, phrases, quotes used in the beautiful literature. Gratitude for sharing your gift with us!!!

This book full of drama

I cannot wait for the book Charmed to come out. What I'm really waiting on is to see how
Percy and Jasmine unfold. The drama that's about to be created by Dre, I'm to happy inside to see what he has in store. I'm glad Homer figured out what was most important and the way he never acknowledged Nasia again... like Nasia who, I don't know her... couldn't stop laughing... you did a wonderful job.

This book keeps me interested with these families and how intertwined they are. The Skye family is crazy, The Milton Family is crazy, and Jasmine’s family is crazy. But i am happy with the way things out shaping up for Pia and Jasmine. I can tell things are going in the right direction. I just hope things with Dre doesn’t get too out of hand! Great read, I can’t wait to read Charmed and find out how things turn out for everyone.
