I hate trying to write reviews because there are really only pass/fail results for me. Did I make it all the way through? Yes? 5 stars. No? There would be nothing here to read. In all fairness, if an author holds my attention from page one to the end, they’ve done their job. Anything less than 5 stars is petty criticism from someone incapable of even doing the job let alone doing a better one.

So in respect for the author and their work, I am going to start pasting this along with a generic review I found somewhere. “This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”

Now, since I have to keep explaining myself to people who don't like my reviews, I guess some clarification is in order.

1. I am 100% against criticism for works of art. Art is subjective, meaning reviews are irrelevant. The observer's opinion is only relevant to the observer. It is my belief that regardless of what others might say, I have to experience the art for myself.

2. I read upwards of 20 books a month. The $10/month I spend on K U, feels like I am cheating the authors. But since I can't afford 20 books a month if I were to purchase them directly, all I can offer is a positive review. That leads us to the final point.

3. If I get to the end of a book, then it was worth my time. I give those books 5 stars because it helps the author get exposure. That is the only reason I write reviews at all.

I understand that people are people and they are going to do what they do regardless of my stance. I know the way that I review books upsets some people. I am sorry they feel that way but as many have said, they will just ignore my review going forward. In fact, if you made it this far through my review, you should definitely read the book and completely ignore all of the reviews here. You are a much better judge of what you will like than anyone here.

Cheers

Besides the first book in the series, this is my favorite so far.

We get a lot more world building and quite a bit of progression in the series, with a lot of quests closing out.

One concern that I have about the story in general is the continuation of the plot thread that was introduced in the first book about forcing the main quests to be pushed through. Unless the MC and the Titan quest is directly tied to that, we really haven't had much beyond him becoming the Greymane.

Still pretty good but I had some specific issues with this book. I read this on my phone through the kindle app. The text that is generated for stats, quests and messaging is too small. It allowed me to highlight the section but the only way to read it was expand and shuffle. That was very annoying. Having Thorn mute through a good portion of the book didn't help. Thorn is so strong now that PvP fights are no longer interesting unless he is fighting a boss. It is the same thing over and over again. The opponent gets a 6th sense that something is off and dodges at the last second. One hit and the opponent would die so Thorn spends a lot of time chasing people around and not hitting them. That gets really annoying after a while. I did like that we got more information about Thorn's class

Yoooooooo. Even though I want MC to go adventuring, the political aspects of the story are hella interesting too. And with the new curse threatening people's way of living... Ai yai yai.

Rules are absolute until it’s inconvenient for the author

In the first book it’s mentioned repeatedly that there is a complete blackout on all forms of documentation regarding any and every facet of the game. You cannot look up anything on the internet beyond the most basic information. Suddenly there is a narrative need for the main character to be popular so BAM recording function and video sharing where it has never existed before, used once, and the function is never mentioned or used by anyone ever again.

The exposition at the end about how big and important the problems are is pointless. There is no way they weren’t going to mobilize to resolve the issue immediately. Creating new reasons why he should do something he was already going to do to railroad “character development” and provide a reason he is losing his innocence and maturing. The whole thing is forced.

not a real lit, RPG book, no stats.

I do not know if I would consider this a lit RPG book. There are no stats. No metrics no way to know how the characters are growing in power and abilities. The story is good, but it’s missing the stats, it doesn’t have to be an excessive amount of stats, but there needs to be some sort of metrics. That’s what I’m finding wrong in this series. The MC is likable, but still naïve for books in? He needs to grow up quite a bit. I know he’s only 17 but his naïveté kind of irks me. I’m going to continue to read the books because the story is very interesting and there are a lot of plot twists and turns that are keeping me interested.

Book four

Mistakes: I found one. The word often was used back to back in a sentence. I also feel that this series really needs a recap of the other books at the beginning of each new book.

Plot: Lots of questing gets done. No real looting to speak of.

Characters: I still find the MC to be one of the more interesting characters that I follow.

5 We'll Move The World For You If You Need It Stars

Nova Terra: Guardian is the fourth book in The Titan series by Seth Ring.

I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE END OF THIS BOOK. But that is all I will say on the subject. I am confused as to the direction that Velin's quest is leading her...

That is a lot of responsibility for a 17 year old. Thorn has managed to become an Earl, as well as the first noble player in Nova Terra. Yet, he still has many quests calling for his attention, which all seem to branch into truly pivotal scenarios for the reality of Nova Terra on a grand scale. We have started to broach the importance of his race. TITAN. There is a deep mystery surrounding their initial disappearance and how this race may venture back into the world. From the age of Gods to the age of Dragons, there are too many unknowns to decipher all, but the complex weave of lore yet to unfold.

Mainly, I'm concerned about Ouroborous and how he is growing in power within the Orcs army. Which is just as troubling, as how quickly the Orc forces are seeming to snatch up power..

All while Thorn must focus on the corruption once again lurking and growing within Fang Valley.. All before he can set off to meet the Ironhold Duke, whom he wishes to impress and gain enough favor with to chance upon gaining the inheritance of the dukedom..

Mostly, I've become so fascinated with how Seth Ring has encompassed the wide variances in human nature, tackling this alternate and somewhat virtual reality. Everyone comes to remark on how realistic and unlike a gaming experience their time in Nova Terea starts to become.

Lessons for the real world

This tale made my choice for imminent elections certain. Some would choose the old man whom Eve compassionately (?) allowed to inject corruption into Nova Terra. Far better, I've decided to support a Titan who chooses to fight corruption because of his sincere care for his dominion and its players.
A real world 'Titan' is rather unlikely to have the amazing diplomatic skills of the character Thorn. But, as Thorn smashes the bad guys, so do we have a choice of a leader with an aura that intimidates and subdues would-be evil rulers all over our world! I'm ready to VOTE. (But, until the election, I am going to read more of Seth Ring's amazing saga of Nova Terra.) Until the Primary!!

Immersive Adventures with Thorn

I am not a gamer, but this book makes me want to take it up. The problem I think, is that I would no longer be satisfied with any other game that is not as detailed and immersive as Nova Terra.
Thorn is both charmingly naive and deeply cunning as he navigated and forges a path through his quests. It is a delight to watch him develop deepening friendships with his comrades, or squish his enemies, dealing with deception and intricate power games. I love the changes in pace, interspersed with humour. I would highly recommend you read this series.

Guardian jumps right back into the action, 'cause while gaining the title Kingbreaker, Thorn was cursed and is not allowed to speak or use his messaging system! Since all of his abilities are voice activated and being locked out, just can't happen! So Thorn and his team set about to immediately rectify this. Of course there's complications! Like a dungeon dive with never ending mobs.
Of course there's plenty of action. And there's nothing I like better than seeing Thorn fighting along side his battle pet Akira. Akira has in-turn gained a power upgrade to True Ailuridae of her race and with it she gained a battle form!
So don't let this awesome book slip through your fingers 'cause Thorn, Seth Ring, and Eric Jason Martin have a story to tell you.

Very well done

Possibly my favorite of the series so far. We accomplished a whole lot, moved the story forward quite a bit, met new characters, and introduced most likely the direction of the rest of the story.
I also noticed that the writing has changed for the better. The one quirk that prevented me from giving five stars to the previous novels was not present, and I appreciate that .

Something I think I enjoy about this series is the fact that Thorn, like players in an MMO, he's getting pulled in multiple directions. It's always one thing after another but at least the story keeps it all interesting.

I've already grabbed the next book and can't wait to get started.

The fourth volume of Seth Ring's RPG fantasy series continues the excitement and adventures of Xavier or Thorn, the only Titan in the multi-million player game Nova Terra.

Now he's on a quest to purify the World Tree from a rotting corruption. They've narrowed its location to an island that was the home of the elvish race. He picks up new companions, and new titles as he battles giant insects, evil spirits, and back stabbing.

Then there's a whole political alliance out to use him as a new baron, and another alliance looking to destroy him. This is apart from a demon who wishes to kill him.

Overall, it's chock-full of adventure.

On my second reading!

I loved this series so much I have shared it with everyone who likes fantasy, sci-fi, litrpg and just a really good story.

The world is as complex and intriguing as any in LoTR, Harry Potter, or Eragon. The characters are perfectly imperfect, and the steady addition of more complex storylines has allowed the characters to grow and develop, just as Harry and Eragon did. I didn't even realize just how much I missed the first time until I started rereading.

Meanwhile, I am still waiting for the next book in the second part of the series, or second series. Loving every minute!

This book was awesome. I loved how it continued the series. I have one question though how will this love interest thing between the two people develop further. Will they be able to meet IRL? How is his body being taken care of in the real world. I wonder if it is being healed. From what was said it seemed that what was destroying him was that his bones were not strong enough due to accumulated damage. If his bones healed would he be better and able to do stuff or would his body still essentially destroy itself. Can't help but wonder all that.

Disappointing.

I hate when LitRPG gets bogged down in excessive battle scenes and, up to this point, "The Titan" series had avoided that; however, "Guardian" has lots of fighting and those sections are just boring.

I'm also getting the feeling like the author really doesn't have a plan. There are things that have been brought up that you think are going to come back and make some sort of impact on the story...but then they just disappear.

I'll still listen to book #5, but if it doesn't get better, I may be stopping with this series.

I'm struggling to remain invested in this series. Rather than a single driving story arc, we seem to get small arcs that are replaced with whatever the author decides is interesting in the next cycle. There's no end goal; there's no swell to a crescendo... it just goes on.

It's pretty good, for its genre. I want more though. This feels like A.I. generated music. It hits all the familiar notes but there's still something missing.

Good Book.

This one had a lot of what I would call dungeon diving, as Thorn and his party work towards various quests. He has become the central ‘node’ of this game as his extreme luck or ability keep piling on the large quests as the game continues to evolve. Good story, great characters, things are starting to get complex as the weave of characters continues to mesh into a fate that it looks like Thorn cannot avoid. But such is the path of a books MC.

Not as good as books 1&2

I hesitated reading book 4 after book 3 was average at best. Guardian was a little better but the author still had "haha", or "ha" before some of the dialogue, not as much as in book 3, but enough to be irritating. I got bored especially at the first third of the book, middle was pretty exciting, ending was predictable. I might start book 5, just to see if the editing is any better.

Being a partial statue would suck

I never imagined I'd put myself in the frame of mind to imagine feeling stuck in my own skin. I'm glad Thorn has good companions who help create options for him. The quests really do seem to just fall into Thorn's lap, which is funny. I can't imagine dealing with issues this large when I was 17. I'm curious who Thorn might actually end up in a relationship with, because there seems to be multiple options.

Book 4 of Nova Terra: Titan. This installment adds a lot of fun new challenges. My favorite is Thorn not being able to use his abilities. That doesn’t stop the one man wrecking crew from smashing, crushing, and destroying everyone and everything in sight. Not that he wins every fight. We continue to see political posturing and outright betrayal. Amid all of this, I am absolutely loving seeing Thorn grow into the beast he becomes. Great work!!!

A five star story for sure. An OP MC, fights the forces of darkness as well as nobles' intrigues.

A very well written series with incredible world building as the MC seeks a cure for the stone curse that has disabled his communication. He must also navigate the intrigues of the political landscape as well as deal with an outbreak of the corrupt that could become like a zombie apocalypse. What could go wrong here?

Great Series and No dead spots

Series keeps moving along. Nice that the book isn’t continually filled with larger progress charts of filled with gobs of the MC’s progress. There is just enough on major changes. The characters keep advancing and don’t stagnate so things tie together.

I not sure about this book, there was enough to keep me interested but I couldn't help feeling that a lot of the book was filler and some of the storylines really weren’t worth including, but they were there just to make the book a bit longer. This including the revisiting of the ‘Corrupt Disciples’ story at the end of the book.

It was pretty good though my interest in the series is starting to drop a bit. Will pick up the next one if I can get a deal on it, but not in a big hurry. Still no big problems it just drags a bit at time and the MC is very OP. Also his right hand lady is starting to get on my nerves and is a bit overbearing at times.

Inexplicable laughter and adventure

Without a doubt one of my favorite series I've read this year. Thorns antics have had me everywhere from the edge of my seat, to page turning, and to rolling on the floor laughing. I highly recommend this series to any litrpg/gamelit readers out there.

Quest to clear the curse

Alternate universe, LitRPG, immersive gaming, hero's journey

Thorn and his friends work to complete quests, and at the same time, remove the curse suppressing Thor's abilities. Plenty of action, with a lot of side quests. Above average editing. Six books to go.?

Filler book?

Kind of felt like a filler book. Not much new, but rather just a side quest. Complete lack of any interesting protagonist. The author needs to keep going or wrap things up.

This has dropped in content quality.

It has hit most tropes available, and hit them hard. It is as if the author just ran out of ideas and went with old ideas that have been recycled from countless cliche stories.
