She’s had it with cities – and the men who live in them.
Juliet Cooper is going home. She and her dog, Ruby Roo, are going back to the Australian coastal village of Mirrabooka. There, Juliet’s wounded heart will be soothed by the ocean and the unspoiled wilderness she loves. She is never going to change her life for a man again.
He’s a city dweller, through and through.
Finn McLaren is right out of his comfort zone. He’s stuck in the middle of nowhere, with no nightlife, limited cuisine options, and internet access that seems to depend on the alignment of the planets. He can’t wait to get back to civilization – until his absent neighbour arrives home.
And then two worlds collide.
Right from the get-go, there’s something between Juliet and Finn that cannot be ignored, even though their lives are too different, the timing’s all wrong, and nothing about this persistent attraction makes any sense.
Will the magic of Mirrabooka be able to bring them together?
A true slow burn romance, Mirrabooka Magic is a sweet, clean love story set amidst the wild beauty of the Australian coast. Perfect for lovers of small-town and country life fiction, the story is a celebration of the important things in life: love and laughter, family and friendship, the beauty of the ocean – and the loyalty of a good dog.
MAGGIE McGUINNESS lives on a corner of Australia in a remote coastal village, surrounded by the ocean and beautiful native forests. She lives with an Australian cattle dog-cross called Tilly and has two young adult offspring who love to visit, especially when it's beach weather.
Maggie writes romantic comedy, chicklit and romance novels and runs a freelance editing business to help pay the bills. She in inching closer to living the dream (i.e. spending less time editing other people's writing and more time doing her own).
What a lovely read! I had a hard time putting this book down after I picked it up. Maggie's descriptions of the scenery makes you want to pack up and move there right away. I could picture myself in Mirrabooka even though I have never been to Oz. The storyline is well developed. The characters is likable and easy to relate to. Ruby Roo had my heart from the start. What is a story without a dog?! If you are looking for a sweet romance, then THIS is the book for you. 100% Recommend it.
I felt as though this sweet romance was written for me. I enjoyed the lovely scenery and character descriptions and placed a remote, coastal Australian village on my bucket list.
I was drawn into the story from the beginning and enjoyed reading about Juliet, her big red dog, Ruby Roo, and the love story between her and Finn. Juliet’s family, the friendly residents, and the small-town living setting was an added bonus.
If I was forced to find one aspect of Mirrabooka Magic to complain about it would be: city man meets small-town woman … can they find common ground? We have all read this common conflict, but not this well-written.
This is a clean and sweet romance. The setting in Mirrabooka sounds like a remarkable, peaceful location. The author did an excellent job with its description, making the reader's mind transport into this spectacular little spot in paradise. Ruby Roo is a delight of a pet dog and a darling companion. Julie and Finn are a match made in heaven. If you want to de-stress from a hectic day, go ahead and pick up this book. It will transport you to a most serene and beautiful location full with good, humble people and a lovely romance.
Sweet romance that got me through a couple of travel days...I followed this author's IG and fell in love with her photos of the beach community in Australia where she lives. And then I was so saddened when I read about the fires in that community. A fun, light read.
This sweet contemporary romance brought sunshine to a grey day. A delightful, feisty heroine a handsome flawed hero and a whole bunch of misunderstandings. Dive in and escape.
This was a delightful romance to lose myself in with all the things I want from a love story, with the added bonus of being whisked away to charming Mirrabooka. Maggie McGuinness breathed life into this seaside town, making it as much a part of the story as the engaging characters who befriended me.
This is a great book for fans of sweet romance stories. This book will take you to Australia with wonderful descriptions of the sweeping seascapes and descriptions of small-town life. Whether you're a native of the area like main character Juliet, or a city slicker like love interest, Finn, you will find a character to relate to. You will be introduced to a slew of native creatures and the way of life living in a remote village in Australia. By the time you are done with the book, you will be able to smell the sea-water, taste the goat cheese, and hear the surf pounding the shore. This would make a great weekend beach read. This was a cute love story, but what made it different from others is how the dog, Ruby Roo, tied everything together. She is the catalyst of the story throughout. She is not simply a dog, but a main character in the book, whether that was intentional or not. Ruby brings the plot full circle and makes you wish you had a red heeler by your side.
This is a very sweet romance that gradually comes to fruition. The descriptions of the Australian location are vivid and very detailed, and this alone will those who have a soft slot for the country. The story is set around Juliet, who after a bad experience, decides to return back to her hometown - the remote village of Mirrabooka. However, she didn't expect to meet Finn - who was in the same place for entirely different reasons.
The book is well-written and very readable as a great light read. It made a change from my usual genres and was probably a bit too sweet for my taste, but fans of sweet romances will love it.
This is definitely a sweet romance and you will fall in love with the town of Mirrabooka, not to mention Juliet, Finn and the rest of the characters. Maggie draws you into the story from the beginning and you just want to keep reading until the end. And the fact that there is a dog featured in the story, well that pulls at your heartstrings too. You'll find yourself wanting to visit Mirrabooka, and possibly even move there yourself. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series. Hopefully soon :-)
I absolutely loved how well this story was written, and with such precise detailing. I felt like it kept me on the edge of my seat when it came to wondering what was next. The chemistry between Juliet and Finn is smoking. Also, you have to adore all of the other characters written about in the book, especially little Roo. If you're looking for a great book, then you should select this one out of all the rest.
Aww this was a beautifully written sweet slow burn romance. I’ve not read a sweet romance in a long time so this was lovely for something different. It reads like a hallmark movie and is full of sweet moments and lots of drama. The setting of this book is delightful and is captured in such detail you feel like you’re there. I really enjoyed getting lost in this book for awhile.
What an enjoyable read, perfectly seasoned with Australian culture, with country and city life contrasts. You’ll enjoy getting to know Mirrabooka as Maggie’s descriptions leave you wishing you were walking along those bush tracks with the gorgeous ocean beyond.
Sweet love story with lots of action woven throughout. Beautiful writing, the reader was always grounded in the setting, understood the main characters feelings and motivations. Though the outcome was predictable, you were pulling for the characters to get together.
The author did a great job of describing Mirrabooka. She made me feel as if I was right there with the characters. I enjoyed reading the slow burn of Juliet and Finn's story. It was a very sweet read.
A sweet love story with well-defined and attractive characters, from the main ones to the pets. The setting is the beautiful coastline and forest of Australia, which was a breath of fresh air. A highly recommended book for anyone who likes small town romance.
