Ballenas/Whales is a simple non-fiction science book for young children with simple easy to understand facts about dolphins. My copy is bi-lingual Spanish/English which works good in my classroom where about half of the children have Spanish as their first language. It is important to have books in the home language of all the children to develop literacy skills in both English and the first language. The pictures are excellent to give children an idea what whales look like and some of the varieties.
Same review as "Bears" by Melvin and Gilda Berger. I ordered all these little science books from scholastic, so it is hard to know what you are going to get. I was expecting so much more out of these books. The semantics can make the book confusing and it is so simple, I'm not sure how anyone can really learn from them. I guess they are supposed to be easy to read, but who wants to read such boring books? At least they all have good pictures.
