Ken Bishop needed to kill his siblings.

Well, maybe not all five of them, but at least three, maybe four.  He needed the money from his recently deceased mother's estate, and his one-sixth share wasn't going to cut it.  So, he killed a sister.

Minnesote Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Agent Danny Carlisle is assigned to investigate the death of a Bishop's sister at a nursing home.  A woman with dementia who had been given only days to live.  A woman whose death the family said was a blessing.  The police wanted Carlisle to let it go, even after Carlisle discovered the woman had been murdered.  But Carlisle is not someone to let a murderer go free.

While Carlisle focusses on the nursing home staff, Ken Bishop is focussed on killing a brother.  But while he is doing that, someone kills one of his two remaining sisters, and then the last.  And now, Ken Bishop is wondering who is doing his killing for him, and if he will be next.

Readers of John Sanford, Lee Child, Michael Connelly, Jeffrey Deaver, and like authors will enjoy this fast-paced thriller.

Chuck (C.E.) Nelson is an avid angler and author of three highly rated murder mystery series.

The Trask Brothers Murder Mystery Series follows the exploits of Dave and Don Trask, identical twin brothers in law enforcement, as they chase down killers across Minnesota and beyond. Like the author, the brothers love to fish, and you'll usually find a few fishing tidbits in each book.

The Edge of Winter and Kill Six comprise the Danny Carlisle mystery series to date. Carlisle has appeared in Trask Brother's books and is a headstrong independent agent from Duluth, Minnesota, likely to get herself in more than a little bit of trouble.

Peter 'Doc' Hunter is the protagonist in Angry Sins. Doc is a BCA agent who is working on becoming a professional golfer when his day job doesn't get in the way. Doc is a good golfer - the author, not so much.

Nelson resides in Minnesota and has a cabin in Canada where he feeds his angling needs and ponders his next story.

C. E. Nelson, nicely done. Kept me going all through the book and even when I knew “whodunit” I didn’t know how you would work it out. Needless to say, I was not disappointed in your expertise as I got to the end. I believe I can see more of your works in my future. My thanks to this author!

This Was Quite A Twisty Thriller!

At first I was a bit apprehensive about how this story would play out but it soon became clearer and I was off on a roller coaster ride of epic proportions! The sinister plots by not one but two killers two kill a family of siblings us really intriguing. Add to that the surprise ending and you've got a thriller to top them all

Great Read

This book was well written. There was a lot going on thru out the whole book. I was on the edge of My seat trying to keep up with everything going on. I enjoy reading a good crime story with funny scenes along with the drama.

Kill Six

Interesting story with a couple of plot twists that surprised me. If this were a true story I wonder if they would ever figure out the motivation for the killings beyond the money. My only issue is the chapters around the baby’s birth when the writer switches to first names. That part almost seems like it was written at a different time or by someone else it was inconsistent with all the rest of the writing.

There was an awful lot going on throughout this entire story. Some of the characters were well-developed while others were probably unnecessary. But this read well and easily and was one I did not want to put down even though a child could figure out who was who pretty quickly!

second this

Good story mixed with good characters, Danny is taking on a more serious life, other characters are stepping in and making the plot flow.

In this story, you know who is doing the killings and why. Some characters are easy to like, others aren't likeable at all and most you don't get a chance to know before they're gone. The deaths span several counties and it's a waiting game to see if authorities work together and figure this out. Having not read the first book, I admit to not being familiar with Danny Carlisle but she seems to have a troubled past which makes her a difficult person to work with. She's too lone wolf and not enough of a team player which puts her in jeopardy more than it should. The concept was far-fetched but still entertaining enough that I kept reading and will probably read more by this author.

Enjoyed it!

I enjoyed the book. The characters were believable and pretty well developed. My only criticisms are that sometimes when you switched from one protagonist to another, the timeline was confusing; and there were several typographical errors, so a better proofreader may be required. I currently live in Duluth, so it was interesting to be able to visualize the different areas as the story unfolded.

Ok

Although there are some grammatical errors, I am trying to overlook the editing. The story held my interest enough to finish the novel.
I had long breaks between reading sessions so I had some difficulty keeping the characters separated. It didn't help that the author used first names sometimes and last names at other times and there were a lot of characters.. I probably would not bother with another Danny Carlisle novel. Good luck C.E. Nelson!

Not as good as the first book. Danny got put into a similar situation like the first book and it seemed repetitive.

A Little Overkill

A good story, lots of twists but not hard to figure it out. Like the way the characters develop. On to the next one.

Points for the story

It takes a special kind of writer to take a story with multiple murders, multiple murderers, a birth and an engagement...and make it boring

Good one

Good fiction. I liked the way the story went. Though not a hair raising thriller, you won't keep the book down.
