BLACK EDGE Series (5 books!)
Mr. Black bought me at a secret auction on his yacht. I’ve never done anything like this before. What happens when one night isn’t enough?
First thing this is book 2 of a three part story, you need to read all the books in order.
The story starts at around 10% in after all the author notes, back catalogue list and social media information. The story picks up where book 1 left off. There is other woman drama and the heroine is now engaged to the other man so other man drama also. Some kissing with other people. Cliffhanger. It's okay. Bit drawn out, I felt it could have been a duet rather than a trilogy and I would have liked to see more of Franklin's character as it's so slow in plot.
LETHAL WEDDING is the second instalment in Charlotte Byrd’s contemporary, adult WEDLOCKED romantic, suspense trilogy focusing on twenty-five year old heiress Aurora Tate, and high school teacher turned investigative reporter Henry Asher. LETHAL WEDDING should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events of book one DANGEROUS ENGAGMENT.
NOTE: If you have not read book one Dangerous Engagement, there may be some spoilers in my review.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Aurora and Henry) LETHAL WEDDING follows in the aftermath of several events resulting in the break down of the relationship between Aurora and Henry, and our heroine’s subsequent engagement to her father’s business rival. Aurora Tate would soon discover that she had become a pawn in a much bigger game, a dangerous game of power and control, and our heroine is but a piece in a much bigger problem. With her father facing financial ruin, bankruptcy and prison, Aurora is forced into an arrangement that will free her father, but trap our heroine in a gilded cage. Meanwhile, Henry Asher’s friend and PI begins digging into the event and circumstances surrounding Aurora’s about face and engagement to one of the most powerful men in the world, a man who now controls every aspect of Aurora’s family and life. As Henry continues to drown his sorrows from afar, Aurora struggles with a future that will end very badly.
LETHAL WEDDING is a story of power and control; of betrayal and manipulation; of lost love, resignation, secrets and lies. Aurora Tate is a pawn; a doormat; a little TSTL but her father’s schemes and business practices have placed our heroine in the direct line of fire. Resigned to her fate, Aurora will once again walk away from the man that she loves in an effort to save her family’s legacy and name. The premise is intriguing, dramatic and intense; the romance struggles in the face of revelations and time apart; the characters are tragic and heart breaking.
This sad sad story continues and we’re about to see things get not only more complicated but worse. for everyone involved.
So we know that in the end of book 1, the proverbial shit hit the fan when Tate Media was on the verge of despair. Aurora’s father was arrested, and had a heart attack and her mother blames it all on her because she wasn’t willing or eager to marry Franklin. When she realizes that she’s truly got no other choice since it’s not just her family’s livelihood at stake, but everyone who’s worked at the company for years, she has no choice and does what she needs to.
this second installment of this series spends much of our time wondering what’s truly at the core of what’s going on with our characters and what that means in the long run. We know that Franklin is well connected and it comes to our attention that it’s likely not in all the most savory ways as well. Then there’s the fact that Aurora isn’t being true to herself at all, and there’s only so much she’s willing to compromise on her beliefs and her self worth.
Then there’s Henry. He’s in various cities/states working on his podcast and he’s still not willing to let Aurora go. He knows that what happened wasn’t something that he wanted, breaking up with her wasn’t the right move, and then when the news of the engagement to his boss comes up – that forces him to take pause even more since things just don’t add up. Add to that, his mother is incredibly sick and didn’t let him know, so that’s an underlying story for him to cope with.
We go around and around in circles in this story – wondering what it’s going to take for Aurora to either marry Franklin or walk away to deal with the consequences. We don’t know how it’s going to end up, but we know that we’ll likely uncover so many secrets that will turn this series on it’s head again. When we leave off, there are things revealed, and alliances that are formed that we wonder what the ultimate end goal will be. So that means that I of course have to read the next book and so off I go to see this series resolve.
Terrifically tantalizing! LETHAL WEDDING by author Charlotte Byrd is the second installment of Ms. Byrd’s episodic Wedlocked Trilogy and continues the monumental love story of Henry and Aurora. At face value, this is one of those “girl from a wealthy family falls in love with a hardworking man from humble beginnings” kind of story, but LETHAL WEDDING is SO. MUCH. MORE!! More because author Byrd entices her readers with a romance so compelling it is nearly impossible to breathe. A love so eloquently described, a reader’s emotions can’t help but grasp the pure seduction and mesmerizing captivation of this unrequited relationship that has been stymied by seemingly insurmountable events outside of their ability to control. Forces so insurmountable they may not only push the young lovers apart in the now, they also threaten to separate Aurora and Henry from the forever they both long to embrace. Despite the tensions, disappointments, frustrations, and tears is the most incredible hope that somehow, in some way things will change and Henry and Aurora will have their “happily ever after” despite the challenges that life keeps throwing at them. I jumped at the opportunity to voluntarily read LETHAL WEDDING, and this is my voluntary and honest 5+STAR review. Whether you read the episodes of this Wedlocked Trilogy as they become available or wait until all of the manuscripts are published to read the whole story at once, Charlotte Byrd’s LETHAL WEDDING should be your next romance purchase! Happy pages! 😉
Okay.... I really liked the first book Dangerous Engagement because the premise (rich girl & poor guy) was different than a lot of other books I read, so that made it interesting. In book #2 Lethal Wedding the story slowly continues but - unfortunately and disappointing - nothing extreme or super spectacular happens. Nevertheless interesting enough to want to continue with book 3 Fatal Marriage. (Full review when finished the complete series.) {Het verhaal kabbelt rustig verder... zeker niet slecht, maar ook niet(s) spectaculair.... edoch, interessant genoeg om ook boek #3 te willen lezen.}
This is the second book in the Wedlocked Trilogy and it is an addictive storyline filled with betrayal, manipulation, power and control and secrets and lies. It is not a standalone and you need to read Dangerous Engagement prior to starting this book. Henry and Aurora had what could be termed an epic love story. He was a teacher who got his dream of being an investigative journalist. Unfortunately, it took him away from the woman he loved. Aurora is a woman who came from a wealthy family, who due to exigent circumstances, broke off her relationship with Henry which led her to become engaged to her father’s business rival. Unbeknownst to Aurora, she becomes a pawn in a game of power and control. As Aurora’s father is on the verge of bankruptcy, Aurora is trapped into a deal that will help free her father. Not one to believe everything is on the up and up, Henry enlists the help of his friend who is a private investigator to look into what prompted Aurora’s engagement. This is one high energy storyline that breaks one’s heart as Ms. Byrd’s words create a spellbinding world where readers can feel the emotions emanating from these characters. It is one intense and thrilling read. I volunteered to read a copy of this book.
A relationship between two people under the control of the girl's parents.
Aurora has never been interested with the company her father and mother established. Though she has enjoyed in all the wealth that her parents accrued. Now her freedom is being taken away from her. They are dictating that she has to marry someone she doesn't know much less interested in. Franklin is not a good man but he holds the power of getting her parents out of the trouble that her parents caused by stealing money from the company. Henry is brokenhearted since he and Aurora broke up. It is compounded when he finds out that she is engaged to Franklin who happens to be Henry's boss. So many twists and turns in this book. A lot of mystery wondering what will happen to Aurora after she marries the no good Franklin. This story-line is definitely a can't put down book. Once you start reading the trilogy starting with Dangerous Engagement, you are hooked. Charlotte Byrd has done a great job writing the books. One more left to come. Definitely recommend this trilogy. Get the first two and wait for the third one.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Lethal Wedding is another chilling, moving installment of the Wedlocked Trilogy by Charlotte Bryd. Lethal Wedding will have you on edge with all of the suspense, drama, betrayals and love involving Aurora and Henry. What happens when Aurora makes the ultimate sacrifice by giving up the man she loves, Henry Asher in order to save her father and family she will be forced to marry evil Franklin Parks. Aurora is giving everything away for her family, one that is still keeping secrets from her. When Henry learns what has transpired after a disagreement, will he be able to find her in NY? And what happens when he learns of her plans to marry the man who happens to be his boss? Will the plans Aurora has put into place play out? Once again Charlotte Byrd has written a trilogy that is full of angst, mystery and passion. With all of the twists and turns Charlotte continues to captivate her readers. This is one story that will leave you left gasping, heart pounding as we now have to wait for book 3 to see how this drama will play out. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book
Deceitful and full of twists! The continuation of Aurora and Henry’s story is nothing like I’d thought it be... it was so much better! We’re taken through the aftermath of Henry and Aurora’s breakup and seeing Aurora move on and try to make her relationship with her new fiancé, Franklin, work. Charlotte Byrd does an amazing job at creating the plot and having the readers feel and think one thing before ripping the rug under them with a plot twist. There were times where I believed Aurora would completely move on from Henry and build a new life without him, and times where I actually believed she was supposed to belong with Franklin. Henry and Franklin are friends/ boss and employee so it was difficult to decipher whether to root for their friendship or yell at Henry to get away from that monster. After that hell of a cliffhanger for an ending, I cannot wait to read the conclusion of this amazing story.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Heartbreaking, but so much so that you can’t put it down. Hang in there for the happily ever after. I positively loved it. Franklin is a person that you love to hate. A black mail scheme of the worst kind. If Aurora does not marry Franklin, he will destroy Aurora’s father, including his company and everything he has ever built. He will make him a pauper.Aurora is in love with Henry and only agrees to marry Franklin to save her family. Henry is a good and decent man and loves Aurora for herself, not for her billions. Is Aurora willing to give up her love for Henry to save the rest of her family? Tough decision. Another depressing cliffhanger. The next and final book in the series has got to have something good to come out of it. I feel like I’ve got a dead weight sitting on my chest from the turmoil, drama and lovelessness in this book. Absolutely heartbreaking.
I cannot express to you how much I love this author. She really knows how to keep you in suspense and wanting more with those cliffhangers, but those of you who don't like cliffhangers, don't be persuaded she releases her books one after the other so you don't have to wait too long to find out what comes next. In Lethal Wedding we are getting more of a feel for what is going on with Aurora's parents company that SHE is suppose to save because THEY messed up...smh...I can't believe what horrible parents they are! It becomes clear that Henry and Aurora still love each other, and Franklin is just...ugh...I can't stand him! He shows a softer side then BAM back to jerkville (that's putting it nicely) that's all the spoilers I will give...you have got to read it to appreciate it! Can't wait to see what happens.. I received this ARC and I am voluntarily leaving my review.
I made the mistake of starting this book late at night and could not put it down. Ma. Byrd spins a web of mystery, betrayal, love and power. Aurora is the daughter of a multi billionaire media father. She has been in love with reporter Henry. Unfortunately a fight spectated them and her life is changed during the time it takes for him to come to NY to find her. Aurora is forced to marry evil himself, Franklin, to help her father from prison. Henry is willing to risk it all to save Aurora from this fate but she has a plan of her own. This is the start of a captivating and well written trilogy. The characters are so well developed and I can’t wait to see what happens next. I highly recommend this book and I am volunteering to leave a review .
Aurora is now forced into a corner and she doesn't know what to do, her father has been arrested and is in the hospital after having a heart attack, and her mother blames her for everything because she refused Franklin's offer. Will Aurora end up doing what her mother and father wants her to do or will she follow her heart and go to Henry who she is still in love with. Omg I love this book and series so much and I can't wait to read the next one. Charlotte Byrd is an incredible author and amazing writer and I have read every single one of her books and they are so addictive. I definitely recommend you read this book, series and other books by her and you will definitely not be disappointed as they are definitely worth reading. I Voluntarily Reviewed an ARC Copy Of This Book.
Aurora and Henry's story continues in this second nerve bending installment. In 'Lethal Wedding', Aurora is still willing to sacrifice herself for her family and father. Franklin is the man that Aurora is willing to shackle herself to in order to save her family and he is so easy to hate. The characters are again well written causing the reader to get emotional while reading. There is enough betrayal, mystery, intrigue, secrets and twists to keep the reader turning the pages. Ms. Byrd keeps the reader in a state of suspense while second guessing which way the story will lead them next. I am highly anticipating the third book in the trilogy and I am sure I will not be disappointed in the ending. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The saga continues with Aurora and Henry continues. Unbeknownst to Aurora she is being courted by the billionaire business typhoon Franklin. Aurora’s father was in financial trouble and needed to sell the company. Franklin made him an offer which included Aurora as part of the deal. Aurora did not realize that her parents agreed that she is part of the arrangement. Things in the media life gets crazy when Aurora’s father gets arrested and put in jail. Henry, Aurora love of her life begins to look at the situation with Aurora and is determined to find out what is really going on. I have enjoyed reading this saga only sad thing is that I have to wait until May for the conclusions. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC for my honest review.
What can I say about this author that I haven’t said before. Dangerous Engagement and Lethal Wedding is shaping up to be a terrific trilogy. Ms. Byrd usually writes in novella length, long series format but I’m loving 300 pages of compelling reading. Her characters Franklin, Henry and Aurora are so well written that you can sometimes forget they are fictional. The love/hate triangle between these three is complicated and deliriously dark. They are so well developed, the dialogue is on point and I believe payback will be a beyotch. Can not wait for the last installment. I received an arc of this book for a fair and honest review.
Lethal Wedding Book 2 Charlotte Byrd This such a thrilling book, you just can not put it down. It is driving nuts waiting for book 3. I enjoyed this fast paste, page-turner book with all the twists and turns. Charlotte Byrd is one of my favorite writers. I don't know how she does it, just when you think you know what is going to happen, bang something else gets in the way. You can't go wrong with any of Charlotte's books, I have never been disappointed, not once. I love this story so much I wish I could give more stars but I can put it as my number one book. I received an advanced reader copy from bookfunnel and have voluntarily chosen to leave a review. This is my honest opinion.
The second book in this trilogy had me on the edge of my seat. No matter how hard Aurora tried to get out of the wedding, something more dire would block her from her true love. I am glad that Henry finally realized that there was something going on, I just wish there was something more he could have done. I still don't like her parents and I haven't decided if they are being one hundred percent forthcoming or honest yet. I think they just don't want her with someone 'beneath' them. I guess I will have to wait and see. I have no idea how the next book will go, but I am sure I will be anxiously waiting and reading. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
🤯 I’m sooo in love with not just THIS book, but Charlotte Byrd. I feel stalker-ish when it comes to this series. This series should be on Cable or Stream TV. I mean you have twists and turns with every page. And let’s not forget the chemistry and passion between Henry and Aurora.
I’m SO LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING MORE. I especially need to know what going to happen next to Franklin.
I got my popcorn and my flavored water and just awaiting for the next episode....
I voluntarily received an advanced copy of this book and any opinions expressed within this review are solely and uniquely made by me and I am happily leaving this review.
The 2nd installment of the Wedlocked trilogy hits the literary spot. The story continues with Aurora trying to come to terms with the obligation of being a Tate and fighting with the expectations of her parents. Henry is trying to ignore the pain in his heart and move on but his feelings for Aurora take over every thought and action. Follow the story of our 2 lovers as they both come to terms with the downside of family and obligation. Cannot wait for the final book and to see whether love prevails
This is an intensely charged book. The anxiety that permeates some of the characters is matched by the cold calculation of others. There never a dull moment in this novel. Charlotte Byrd has created an atmosphere of angst that has me wishing that the 3rd book in this trilogy was already available too. I have read a lot of her books. I will walk out on a limb here and say the suspense in this one makes it my favorite of all of them thus far. If you can manage an emotional roller coaster that doesn't end when you get to the end of the book...this one is definitely for you.
Wow this book picked up right where book one ended. I was so hooked and read this book in less than one day. All characters in this story go from the evil Franklin to the kind hearted Henry to the one women they both want Aurora . I just love the way Charlotte Byrd tangles all her main characters together and how you need to consider all sides before deciding who is the good guy and who is the bad. Yes Henry chose his career over Aurora but now he know what he gave up and is will to fight for it. I just can’t wait for the final book.
3.5 **** stars. Aurora’s parents have landed her in a hot mess due to their greed. They have basically sold her to marry a megalomaniac, Franklin to make her father’s problems go away. She is still in love with Henry and Franklin creeps her out. He only wants her because she said no. Henry still wants her but he has a bucket of problems himself. I found this part of the trilogy to be pretty low key which is probably setting up for the finale. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book
So this is the continuation of Aurora and Henry's story. Aurora is stuck going through with an arranged marriage to assist her family who is full of secrets that even she is not aware of. There is tons of emotion and turmoil in this story and the way it is written makes you feel the defeat and longing that Aurora has to deal with all for her family. Can Henry save the day and get her away from Franklin? I sure hope so. This one is a page turner.
I voluntarily wrote this review from reading an advanced copy of this book.
This is the second book in this trilogy and I recommend reading them in order. This read begins where the last left off. Aurora is engaged to Franklin Parks to save her father’s life and her family’s legacy. However, she is in love with Henry who happens to work for Franklin. Henry wants to save her but Aurora wants him to stay away and deal with everything on her own. Will they find a way to be together? Fast-paced read with plenty of drama and chemistry. This read draws you in and has plenty of twists and turns. I liked it.
Lethal Wedding by Charlotte Byrd is the second book in the Wedlocked Trilogy and continues the story of Aurora and Henry's romance and their nemesis Franklin Parks. Aurora and Franklin's wedding is still planned to be performed in order to save her father's life. This well written book reveals several of the book's secrets and has many plot twists. Beware, this intriguing and fantastic read ends in a cliffhanger which will be concluded in the third installment of this trilogy entitled Fatal Marriage.
I received an arc in return for a true and voluntary review.
Book 2 of the Wedlocked Trilogy continues where book 1 left off - with Aurora. This book helps the reader understand Aurora and Henry more, and a little bit of Franklin. Franklin seems to have good and bad sides. Book 2 ends with a cliff hanger and the thought of how bad can Franklin be......??? This is another great book by Charlotte, can't wait for the last book in the series. Wondering if it will turn out like I want - or what twist will Charlotte throw at us? I think you will enjoy this series as much as I have.
Another fabulous story by Charlotte Byrd. I was totally captivated by this emotional, and addictive romance between Aurora and Henry. Aurora is left with a dilemma and has to choose between her family and the man she loves Henry, who would do just about anything to save her from the fate her father has pushed onto her. I really enjoyed this rollercoaster of a story it was full of drama, intrigue, betrayal and Love and I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to find out how this ends. Absolutely Amazing.
