In a future time, the greed and destructive nature of man has resulted in the fall of civilization as we know it today.
America is a wasteland, where the scattered cities that remain have become overcrowded havens for those who seek refuge behind protective walls.
In Seattle, where the Seahawks once played to the roar of the 12s, Century Link field stands quietly in the shadow of Megamax prison.
Impenetrable and inescapable, Megamax houses the worst of the worst: criminals whose heinous acts have condemned them to life in a place where blood flows like water, and an inmate's worth is determined solely by his or her performance in the Arena.
This story is the prequel to The Vanguard, which will be out in 2020.
This story contains violence and adult language. It is not intended for young or easily offended readers.
Not only does the cover pack a punch, but so does the story! I was immediately drawn into the setting, the desperate times and desperate situations this story covers. To have to fight daily for survival is one thing in a prison such as Megamax is another. The ruthless Warden is trying to manipulate or kill Maxwell Drake by pitting him against the baddest of the bad in the arena for all to watch the blood flow. The story opens with Drake in battle, taking hard punches and giving hard ones back. He is the victor, but for what? Another opponent, another day is all that lies ahead unless he takes the Warden's proposition. I was on the edge of my seat throughout this entire short story and found myself wanting more at the end. I do hope this author will consider turning this into a novel. Great story! It is full of high drama and heart-stopping action! It is well-written and error free, which is no easy feat for an indie author. Kudos to Rhani D'Chae!

Knockout!
Having trained as a kick-boxer, under a former world champion, there's nothing I like better than to watch a good fight. Megamax is a gritty tale that brings the reality of fighting to life. "There's no love in my glove" is what my trainer would say. Like Megamax he won fights by using his mind and observing his opponent "telegraphing his moves" and exploiting his weaknesses.
Author Rhani D'Chae knows fighting and brings that world to the reader. This is the best fight story I've read.
This short story takes us to a future I hope doesn’t happen but feels very real. Prisoner Maxwell Drake is a part of the fighting ring in the Seattle prison. The fights are brutal, bloody, and controlled by the warden for profit. It immediately drew me into the story, including the predicament of being forced to do something Maxwell didn’t want to and the consequences of refusing. I want to know more about this world and Maxwell and can’t wait for the novel! I recommend this story that takes the reader into an action-filled glimpse of what could be.
This was a power-packed & exciting read ! I loved the protagonist Maxx created so beautifully by talented author Rhani D'Chae. I was amazed by the action, the thrill & especially the awesome dialogues shared by the main charters of this short story. This is a action story you just don't want to miss. Get your copy of 'Megamax' right now on your Kindle & enter the world of real fighters, down to earth laws of the arena & of the decisions Maxx (I so love this character) will make which will change his life forever. This is the same author of Shadow of the Drill, her first block buster! She has done it again with this short story. I have come to enjoy her writing and the way she delivers punches in her stories.
Talking of punches, in MAGAMAX prison, the inmates lived in a world of survival of the fittest. They either die fighting or die anyway. Maxwell Drake knew this rule and so far, it had worked for him. He never lost a fight. However, the time always comes when one should throw in the towel.
A short story about survival of the fittest in a boxing ring. Maxx Drake is one of thousands inmates in a special prison in future times. When fighting there are no gloves, no referee, and no rules. This is a quick and well-written story.
