Many people understand that, at the end of all things, Christ returns, God will create a new heaven and a new earth where those who have trusted in Christ will live with him for ever. But what about those who have "passed on" well before this? Where are they now? What does heaven look like? What will occupy us there? When David Oliver faced the death of his son Joel, at the age of 38, following a short and brutal fight with cancer, he set about researching and writing this powerful short book on heaven and committed to write whatever he discovered. Through a thorough examination of the relevant Bible texts, David provides us with a thrilling view of the future and a destiny well worth preparing for, which will enrich our vision and faith.
This book All About Heaven is partly about David Oliver’s son who died from cancer at the age of 38. It also goes into all about heaven, that David explored after his son died.
In this book it has the question that we all ask ourselves what happens when I die? And furthermore we all have had relatives that have died and most of us do believe that when our relatives or friends die, they go to heaven.
This book is for Christians and non-Christians. What I learned from this book and found most interesting is that in the bible it uses the phrase fallen asleep referring quite clearly to those who have died. Because of that, some believe that when we die, we stay in limbo an unconscious state until the return of Jesus.
I not sure if I believe the that there is heaven, as in my own mind I have always been undecided on this subject. I do wonder if when we die and are buried, is that the end that we stay buried ? Or do we go to heaven? But the main point here is David Oliver firmly believes that there is heaven and a lot other people do. All I’m saying is I still question myself about heaven.
This book is a very interesting topic. In All About Heaven goes into depth in much more detail, than I have stated.
All About Heaven is a book, one that you shouldn’t be afraid to read it, and would be great for book clubs as it will most certainly open up a conversation of different peoples point of view on Heaven.
A very good, easy read book on a serious subject, written out of personal experience. I've passed it on (see the connection?) to brother who loves this subject, though I hadn't quite finished it, but will just get another copy to finish it.
Thoroughly enjoyable and insightful read. You cam see and feel the pain throughout the book, but the promise of what the future holds and how David interprets the Bible is fascinating. This really is a book you should tell others about. I know I shall be.
