The fae just made a big mistake... Tamsin had her life just as she liked it. Her own cozy cottage, a sisterhood of kick-butt friends, and even the perfect guy (glossy ginger fur, wet black nose, loves cuddles and chicken. Yes, he’s a dog).
Then some jerk shoved her through a stone circle into fairyland.
These fae are not sweet, family-friendly pixies. More like Fifty Shades of Fairydust.
And they’re all eying her up like she’s the last wine cooler at book club night…
The fae say she belongs to them now. That there's no way she can escape. Well, these jacked-up Tinkerbells can shove that right up their sparkly you-know-wheres.
Tamsin’s armed with wit, grit, and a deeply unimpressed Pomeranian. This human is going home. And woe betide any fae who gets in her way.
Even if he’s tall, gorgeous, and just saved her life…
Stolen from her own world…and she’s stolen his heart
Fae warrior Cuan pitied the poor defenseless human woman. That was before he met her (and the horrifying ball of fluff and fangs she claims is a dog. Truly the human world is a dark, terrible place).
One glance, and Cuan knows that their fates are intertwined. Now he’ll do anything for this fearless, fascinating queen.
Starting with trying very hard not to die in the next ten minutes.
With the entire unseelie fae court fighting to claim the rare prize of a human tithe, how can a mere half-breed like Cuan keep Tamsin safe? His shameful ability to shapeshift—a legacy of his bestial father—is nothing compared to the magic of pure-blood elves. All his strength and skill can only buy her a little time.
Of course, there is a way he could protect Tamsin.
But she really, really isn’t going to like it…
Set in the same world as Zoe Chant's popular Fire & Rescue Shifters series, Fae Mates will transport you to a whole new realm of hot, hilarious romance! Get ready for laughter, love, and some very unusual shifters...
Zoe Chant loves writing paranormal romance. Over a cup of tea (or something stronger) she whips up sexy tales of hunky heroes and adventurous heroines to tantalize and satisfy her readers. Sizzling hot romance, no cliffhangers!
While series should ideally be read in order, all of Zoe’s books are standalones and can be read in any order. This includes books within series.
This was an okay story. And I wanted to like this heroine because she's older (40). I thought I'd be able to relate to her more. But somehow, something about this story just didn't work for me. Not sure if it's her (the heroine) personality or the Hero's personality but something just wasn't pulling me into the story, this new world. Hmmm... I'm not sure that I'll be picking up the rest of the series.
Well written and entertaining for the most part, if long winded at times but I have realized I am not a fan of Fae books. I dislike the cruelty and behaviour. I also found Tamsin being continuously quite willing to risk Cuan’s life before her own very vexing and completely amoral. Felt sorry for Cuan if truth be told. He was honourable, truthful and too good for Tamsin. We also had the pc element with a same sex couple. Read through Kindle Unlimited so only my time lost.
This book is the first book in a new series. As always, this author delivers a great story. The characters are wonderful, and the storyline fascinating. The romance is both sweet and sexy. This is a very good read.
I admit, at first,I had trouble getting into this book..glad I have it another chance...it was a very good story...I loved the chemistry between the main characters and hated one character in particular...
Tamsin, a forty year old who was living her life the way she wanted. She had her friends (Daisy, Cathy, Betty, Hope & Jack), her job, her cozy cottage and her dog, Angus. She didn't have time for love. Then one day she was pushed into fairyland after receiving a call aboug a lost dog on Fair Hill. Turned out it was a lie, she was captured by fairies who wanted her to beg but instead she was planning her escape. Cause she was ready to head back home to the real world. She had some help escaping her captures thanks to a sexy as sin adonis Fae who'd just saved her life.
Cuan, a hybrid Fae warrior who felt pity for the human woman who'd just been sold to the elves. He thought she was defenseless, well that was before he saw her in action. One look at her and he knew she was his mate. He was willing to do anything to protect her from those seeking to claim her as their prize even if it meant claiming her as his own.
He had to face many challengers but in the end he came out victorious. Now he was in danger as well as Tamsin, he had one solution, for them to mate. There was already a deep connection between them, the mate-bond was strong. Them mating would gave her rights as the mate of a Fae. And she wouldn't have to fear of being unwillingly touched by others in the unseelie court.
When the Prince of the seelie vourt set his sights on Tamsin, Cuan, his friends and Tamsin's friends had to do everything in their power in order to rescue her. Loved all the twists and turns. Looking forward to the next installment! ;)
TITHED TO THE FAE is the first book in Zoe Chant's newest series, FAE MATES. I was enthralling and a marvelous read. Excellent job by Zoe Chant. Two thumbs up!
****I received a copy from the author, without any obligation to review.****
I loved reading Cuan and Tamsin’s story. It has a bit of suspense and danger mixed in with all the swoony love. Tamsin is a human who loves dogs and works at a dog rescue. When she gets a call about a hurt dog, she immediately goes to help even if it’s dark and in a place she’s been warned not to go. And where she’s pushed into the fae realm to pay a tithe. Cuan is half high fae and half phouka shifter and is considered less than because of his shifter side. When he first sees Tamsin, he recognizes her as his true mate and demands her as payment of a boon owed to him in order to save her. Then the danger really starts while Tamsin and Cuan try to break the tithe magic and return her to the human world while also trying to avoid dying. The book is fairly low angst and has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, steamy encounters, dangerous action, strong friendships, paranormal beings, mystery, suspense, painful pasts, political intrigue, mystical coincidences, and laughs. Experiencing the journey of Tamsin and Cuan’s HEA gave me all the feels - you will definitely laugh, tear up, swoon, grit your teeth, and happy sigh. The book was well written and included characters with depth who grow and an engaging story line. All of the shifters Zoe Chant creates are loyal, upstanding, loving, all around good people who generally want to make the world a better place and Cuan is no different. I am excited to read more in the series.
I have read Zoe's books before and stopped because I got little bored and wanted more action, and I mean action where while I m reading I m so intrigue of what's happening that I can't stop reading! I like this book but had to stopped and read another one because of the same thing. Is good book but needed more... 🤨🤨😔
Okay this relies on the fates instalove though it at least takes a few days to appear which is my major issue with it. That said the world and characters are well built and interesting and I will be very put out if Motley doesn't eventually get a story.
The book offers one resolution but leaves off on a cliffhanger that sets up the next story in the series that I can't wait to read. The interpretation of the Fae was both original and well researched traditions effortlessly blended.
The heroine wasn't cookie cutter, she was a middle aged I want to say African American woman based on the description of her skin as dark in a few places but this wasn't clearly identified so I can't say for certain. I really wish it had been better identified simple because diverse leading ladies are so rare in romance that at least a small highlight would be nice. I'm not saying make it a huge plot point or a flashing neon sign over the character but even just a sentence that makes it clear that this beautiful leading lady who is going to get the dream hero of the book isn't the typical tall white blonde. She doesn't fit those boxes and yet she's still beautiful because those boxes so many writers cling to aren't the definition of beauty. Just saying dark once or twice could be interpreted a multitude of ways including descriptions of tan or olive skin tones. I like the idea that Tamsin isn't check box character so I'm choosing to picture her as African American. But like I said I wish this had been more clearly stated.
Overall I definitely recommend the book and look forward to more in the series.
This is one of those books where I became annoyed when someone interrupted me. What a wonderful new world- built so intricately and well thought out. I hope it allows for many more stories in the future and I'm looking forward to each future book.
First, I love that the heroine, Tamsin, is older. She's 40, set in her ways and relatively happy. But she gets sold out by someone and "pushed" into the fae world where they want to use her and her emotions to satisfy their baser urges. There, she meets Cuan, a half breed, who though awesome, is not well thought of because he shifts and is not a pure blood. He also recognizes that she's his true mate but she fights this because she wants to just go home. I love the two characters, I love the supporting characters, especially Motley but also Aodhan and even her Pomeranian. All added to the story and set the stage for a world worth revisiting again and again. I received an early copy and I loved it so much!
Let me start by saying I never thought I would enjoy reading a book about the Fae. I was so wrong this story held my interest from the start. This story has kidnapping, searching for a way home, wizards, the underlie and a hero. Tamsin is a women who has been tithed to the unseelie. Being a human in the land of the Fae is a scary place. With no way of returning home. How will she survive the what is in store for her? Caun is half high fae - half shapeshifter. Caun has the ability to shift into a horse or a wolf. How will he tell Tamsin she is his true mate when all she wants is to return to the human world. This is the first story in the new series Fae Mates. It is a romantic journey and unselfishness of Caun and Tamsin. With the help of his friend Motley and a wizard Caun knows they all search for an unknown way to break the tithe so Tamsin can return home. Come read this interesting story to find out how it plays out. I volunteered to read this ARC of my own free will.
I've consistently loved Zoe Chant for awhile now, and this one is Zoe at the top of her game. There's SO MUCH to love in here I can't possibly list everything, but here are two things:
1.) Angus, Tamsin's dog, is FABULOUS. ("The Pomeranian, curled up in his customary spot on her office chair, shot her a look that very clearly conveyed that this was unacceptable and he wished to speak to her manager.") It's especially great that Cuan, 6-foot-plus warrior of the fae, is terrified of Angus - and it doesn't seem at all misplaced.
2.) Then there's the description of Cuan wearing the expression of a man desperate for the sweet relief of a direct lightning strike.
But there's so much more. Zoe Chant has a marvelous talent for creating multi-dimensional characters easy to identify with, and stories with emotionally satisfying depth that avoid cliché even when that seems impossible. Enjoy this one, and then do as I do, and devour every word she writes!
This is very much a change from a Zoe Chant shifter romance. There is a lot of world building to this. The whole seelie and unseelie world is really complex. Tamsin is knocked through and tithed to the Fae. Cuan is both seelie and unseelie and not truly welcome in either world. He knows, however, that Tamsin is his fated mate. He will do anything to save her from her captors.
This story has a fast pace, an uncertain yet hopeful tone and a character oriented storyline with some action and some steamy scenes. The characters are vibrant and engaging. And apparently, I need to re-read the Fire and Rescue series to see some of the other characters in this new series. This is great, but definitely not the same as other shifter romances. I can't wait to see what happens next! Try it yourself and prepare to be drawn in! Enjoy!
Cuan is a warrior and a fae. Tamsin is a woman who was stolen from her home and traded to a crazy queen in the face realm. When Cuan first sees Tamsin he knows she is his mate. Tamsin only wants to return to her human home. Cuan has to fight several times to keep her safe until he can find a way to save her. Cuan goes to the human realm to find Tamsin's friend who happens to be a member of the hunt. After much deliberation Cuan figures out the only way to save her is to leave the Fae realm with her and stay with her in the human world. Tamsin is a pet rescurer and Cuan is happy to help her. They finally accept that they are mates and Tamsin ends up with a few powers that only belong to the Fae normally. She can understand animals and help them return to their homes.
This one was pretty hot. I loved how they knew they were mates but didn’t want to rush into anything. And Cuan’s shifter abilities were bomb. He was so regal and proper and yet sexy with his fierce defense of Tasmin, even though he knew there was a chance that she would leave him eventually. His selflessness was the most attractive thing honestly. I didn’t really like Tasmin, especially her name.
For some reason it didn’t fit her. Tasmin (the name) is vivacious and fierce, a true and loyal friend. Tasmin the character was anything but. She was pretty introverted and honestly a bit self centered. She didn’t like to go out, she worked alone with only a dog for her companion, and she liked it. She allowed herself to indulge in her physical wants even though she KNEW that Cuan loved her. She was constantly willing to let him put himself in danger, and then she was just gonna leave him. Like, “Later dude, thanks for the great sex and the fighting for your life on my behalf, I’ll write!” This is not really the kind of MC that I like to read, but the story and supporting characters carried where she let me down so I kinda got over it as the story developed.
This took a lot of effort for me to understand and that’s crazy because I expected to like this. There was a lot of information given, which I expect, but it was often in the middle of dialogue which was frustrating. One character would say something, there’d be a page worth of storytelling/explanation/world building, and then another character would respond. Idr what they’re even responding to, so I have to flip a page back to remind myself which is annoying and ruins the reading experience. The names of the clans were difficult for me to remember and there was a lot of comparing between them which was confusing. I felt like info was being dumped on me and I needed to write things down to keep track of everything.
I enjoyed the story. I found the fae world to be different than any other fae world I have read before. Tamsin really was a huge pain. Poor Cuan he should not have had to do all that fighting for her and got nothing in return. She really was a selfish person. The one point I shave liked to have clarified was exactly how she ended up being tithed when she never was asked or agreed to it. That was confusing. How could someone do that to another person without permission and why didn't the hellhounds stop her from going to the other side? The ending with Cathy was interesting. Looking forward to the next book.
Tithed to the Fae was not a bad book, I repeat it was NOT bad, but it wasn’t blow my socks off great either.
I think Angus the Pomeranian might have been the star of the show because he added some hilarity as the hero and heroine figured things out.
There were moments that were great, Tamis had some feisty moments and also knew when it was best to keep quiet for the sake of survival. Cuan was a good guy dealing with a lot of external and internal conflict. However there were moments that fell left and left me going, “Come on already!”
To each his own. Minimal grammatical errors and good sentence structure.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! This was a great book ! Tamsin is having a bad day. Her visit to the fairyland is not going so well. The fairies will not take Tamsin down. Cuan did not expect the hurricane that was Tamsin. But know that he experience the hurricane, he will not let Tamsin go. Let the wooing begin ! Loved the characters + the storytelling ! It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book! I can't wait for the next book in this series.
Wow! I really want more of these Fae. The Fae characters are really good. The hero, sidekicks, and the big bads are all really good and interesting. Tamsin being an older heroine (40s), didn't really do anything for me. I have read many Fae stories and found the characteristics of the seelie and unseelie in this story a little confusing compared to previous stories I have read (thus the 4 stars instead of 5 stars). The story was so intriguing that I had a very hard time putting it down and I cannot wait for the next.
This was a bit different read but I enjoyed it. Tamsin ends up at Fairie Hill thinking she hears a dog in distress. Suddenly she's pushed and finds herself in Fae land where she ends up tithed to Curan. It's a whole different world and Curan quickly realizes she's his mate. Tamsin is drawn to him but wants no part of mating if it means she can never go home. Curan will do everything to protect her including fighting for her. Their tale has danger but also an impossibly happy ending.
I had a harder time getting into this than Zoe’s shifter books. I’ve read and loved almost all of them. I don’t read as many books about the FAE. Once I got into it I enjoyed the characters and the story. Cuan was such a sweet loving character and worthy of so much love. Tamsin was happy in her human life, with her friends, except she would have enjoyed having a partner. When she was sent into the FAE world by someone wanting a favor, Cuan claimed her, recognizing her as his mate. It took a while for her to realize what he meant to her.
It's refreshing to read about a real filly grown up women in a fantasy romance. Adult female with responsibilities, a job and an understanding of the pressures in the real world. Check. Does she still get to go on an adventure that has your toes curling. Absolutely. I thoroughly enjoyed how authentic the character development was in this story. However I did find myself frustrated with the FMC when she didn't make the right choices sooner but that only added to the authenticity of a fmc of that age with life experience.
I got this book because the book Wildfire Hellhound mentioned a character related to Fenrir, Betty, who is featured in this book, Tithed to the Fae. Betty is a supporting character, not the H\h but I liked her character and I loved H\h. He is a fae who very literally put his life at risk to keep the other fae from abusing the heroine. This was a great story. Am looking forward to the next in series.
Book 1 introduced us to an honorable half high Sihde Fae, a strong FMC, and her adorable Pomeranian Angus. We also got to meet all if Tamsin's human & not so human girlfriend's for which I cannot wait for a book about Daisy as she is a hoot.
Looking forward to book 2 and other books associated with universe as this has me turning pages quickly and chuckling often at Cuan's expense.
Cuan and Tamsin are true mates. They met when Tamsin was bound to Mauve Court. Tamsin tries to find a way home while Cuan fights to keep her safe.
I love the fighting spirit that these two fated mates conjures their problems.
This story fits between two series Fire and Rescue Shifters and Wildfire Shifters. I know there is another spinoff series from this book. Highly recommended.
Awesome storyline! What an adventure! Girl get tossed into the fea realm as a bargaining chip. Only to find her fated-mate and both are thrown into a life or death challenges. Drama, laughs, action, majic, exceptance of ones self, and love. Great characters awesome personalities. A magical adveture for sure. Gota get the next read so off I go. Hot and sexy so mot for younger readers.
Fae stories are always interesting by the right authors Zoe Chant wrote a story that grabs the attention and runs with it. A little too sexually charged for under 17 but still a great tale. Fae and fated mates...with white ravens, a pomeranian, hell hounds and a scary single mother with crochet needles and a cast iron frying pan. Can't wait for the next book...
