Sadly, with the loss of Taylor as writer, much of the character interaction and personal motivation are lost and the story become more about battle scenes (until the end. More on that later.)

Year Four carries the momentum from the first three years. The war escalates bringing in the Greek Gods. It has a few good moments and is a logical progression from the preceding years.

Year Five unfortunately is where it falls apart. Superman goes over the top and the entire (long) year shows him becoming the tyrant. The problem is, the stuff he does along the way is so evil, the reader is constantly saying to himself "why is the Justice League still following him?" It's so unbelievable it takes you out of the story. The last few chapters do start to sew the seeds of dissent. I did like some of the subplots with Batman and his son, however.

Year Six is actually called Ground Zero. It's a jarring change from a writing standpoint from the previous years. It is told all from the perspective of Harley Quinn, with her narrating each issue. This does a couple things: takes you away from any excitement and emotion from the major plot points and slows down the momentum considerably. Also, the story becomes about her and her liberation and transformation. While that part is written well, most of the readers I'm sure came for the final confrontation and climax of the story that they've been sticking with for five years. It's a major letdown and it feels very drawn out, dangling the ending out 12 issues, because they know people will sit through it. The ending is fairly mundane and doesn't contain much creativity either.

It's an unfortunate ending to the series, but at least the first three years were a blast.

It was fun, up until the very end. It's like a cheap margarita, I can slam it really fast and it makes me buzzed, but I just wasted money on something that won't last

What a chonky baby this one is!
The Injustice omnibus vol. 2 is packed to the gills, and a whole lot of it is great (I wouldn’t be lying though if I said it didn’t lag for a while towards the middle)
A fun and fitting conclusion to the first Injustice saga, even concluding with the events of the original game presented from a single character’s perspective that doesn’t disappoint, but does distract just a little from having a thorough retelling in this format.....But I suppose if you want to wrap up your time reading these mighty tomes with a 100% faithful telling of the games story; you could always play the game (which, come to think of it, I’m in the mood for right now)

If you’ve played the games and want more. Read it.
If you’re interested in a “worst possible time-line” DC universe? Read it.
If you think Superman would work well as a villain? Read it.

Most importantly: if you like/love Harley Quinn, this series is a very surprising must read.

While not nearly the quality of the first volume, there are some good moments here. GROUND ZERO is really the star of the show, as Harley's story is the most engaging the character's ever been for me.

As much as I loved Year 4 & 5 that’s how much I disliked Ground Zero. I was “Harley’d” out by the end. Still a solid book overall.

Fue entretenido pero para nada cercano al nivel de los primeros años que fueron bajo el mando de Taylor.

A decent finish to a fun Elseworld storyline. The first Omnibus is far better however and a lot of this volume felt like Harley Quinn filler. Her running narration towards the end of the book felt completely unnecessary and became a bit of a slog. It becomes a 1A/1B storyline with a Harley/Joker tale that ends up bogging down the more interesting main story. I actually found it easier to glaze over the Harley portions including most of the narrative boxes to help the story flow better.

I still enjoyed this one, but would definitely skip a lot of the Harley centric issues on my next read through.

The second Injustice: Gods Among Us omnibus contains the second half of the tie-in comics for the videogame Injustice: Gods Among Us (Year 4 and its Annual, Year 5 and its Annual, and Ground Zero). At times, this series is some of the best tie-in media that I've read in my entire life and I highly recommend it for those who finished Volume 1. But the second volume is significantly inferior to the first and leaves me wishing it was something other than a downhill slide ever since Year 1.

Here's the problem: Writer Brian Buccellato simply isn't as good as the writer for much of Volume 1, Tom Taylor. The characterization is thinner and the plots don't flow as well, meandering for multiple issues and then magically resolving themselves with a whimper instead of a bang.

In the same way that Year 2 brought in the Green Lantern Corps and Year 3 brought in magic, Year 4 is about the gods. To be fair, I don't follow this corner of the DC Universe much -- but beyond the impact of the gods' machinations on Wonder Woman, it was hard to care what was going on. And it didn't help that there was a lot of build-up where it seemed like nothing really changed for multiple issues at a time, and then it never fully paid off as Buccellato pulled what felt like a cheap card to get out of it.

Year 5 is significantly better, as it tries to move everybody in position for the events of the game and, therefore, feels more integral to the overall story of Injustice. Superman is still a little sympathetic even as he gets more evil, although he (and just about everyone else) feels less well-realized than before. It's easily the highlight here though, and it's much closer to the style I liked about Year 1 and (to a lesser degree) Year 2.

And then Ground Zero falls flat on its face. These issues are supposed to retell the events of the game from the perspective of Harley Quinn, but she seems to have lost all the interesting personality Tom Taylor gave her earlier in the series. So we're treated to mindless, repetitive narration from Harley instead of actually getting to engage with or flesh out the game's story. Sure, we see what Harley was doing during the events of the game, but we barely get any time with the new set of heroes and are barely given any time to understand what's actually going on in their part of the story. It's all Harley, far too much of the time, and her journey feels far too drawn out and of little consequence. It's supposed to be the climax, the thing we've been building up to for five years! But it's treated like a side-story in a mind-numbing, poorly-written, drawn out Harley Quinn adventure.

One thing that typically stays engaging is the art. It's not perfect -- the change in styles is occasionally jarring, and some artists are better than others (although I don't know who exactly drew what, it can be uneven). But it captures the look of the game while also looking like a typical comic book. None of the cheap, plastic-y looking textures with cylindrical highlights that drag down many other comic tie-ins -- DC seems to have been treating this one like a real comic book that's deserving of time and attention.

You also get a small cover gallery, some sketches, and a short intro note. Nothing worth anything here. The complete package is impressive though -- this omnibus is a massive, heavy hardcover tome that's one of the best-looking and feeling comic collections I own just from a physical item perspective.

Overall, there's no reason not to pick this one up if you read Volume 1 of the series. You're already half-way through, so might as well finish it out! Sure, it's not as good, but it's still not exactly BAD -- especially for a tie-in, Injustice: Gods Among Us as a whole series is a very impressive accomplishment.

I would have finished this quicker but it’s nowhere near as good or fun to read as the first omnibus. I’m a huge Injustice defender, but Brian Buccellato’s weird obsession with Harley Quinn totally ruined this book for me. In Year Four, literally every other panel is Harley Quinn making an out of place joke; in Year Five, he keeps doing this really weird, forced, one-sided romance with Harley Quinn and Shazam (even though they establish she knows that he’s 12 years old); and Ground Zero totally ignores the actual interesting story to focus on Harley doing whatever.

I would have given this 1 star (because at least the art is consistently good), but the only reasons I actually rated it any higher is because of Year Four. It’s definitely not as good as the first three years, but it’s at decent, and the Tom Taylor annual was actually good. Year Five isn’t terrible, but it’s not good; I literally just finished the book and I couldn’t tell you a single thing that happens in Year Five. Ground Zero is just plain horrible.

Tom Taylor should have written this all the way through, but his famous inability to see a story all the way through totally destroyed this. Just a total letdown. I really hope Injustice 2 is better.

Brian Buccellato not only keeps the momentum going from where Tom Taylor left off but also manages deliver a cathartic and satisfying conclusion to the Injustice: Gods Among Us comic run. Finally, seeing this sinister version Superman, fully embracing his despotic role as Earth's supreme leader in Year Five, is a satisfying pay-off to what this storyline has been building up since the beginning. Superman's downfall in Ground Zero is equally satisfying as seeing his rise to totalitarian power and delivers a cathartic release. Not mention having Ground Zero be told from the perspective of Harley Quinn shows how far her character development has come and cements many of the ideas explored in this series. As a whole, Volume 2 of Injustice: Gods Among Us is a purely cathartic and equally compelling and satisfying conclusion to this storyline.

If I could give this a negative rating I would. If you care to know how I really feel about this collection of drivel, read my review on volume 1.

I bought this and volume one because I saw both copies in brand new condition at a local garage sale. I paid $20 for the set. I sat and read this filth because I’m a good boy and I finish what I start however, I was damn near so close to throwing this and the other volume right out of my window.

If you like stories that say a whole lot but are really saying nothing, enjoy.

Artwork is nice.

This is where the story falls off a bit but I still enjoyed it so much. What I love that Brian Buccellato was able to setup and show here was much of a idiot superman was. He was able to capture how each of the characters on superman's team would question his motives. I loveddd that ! So much ! so many deaths and tragedy ! Fun Read !

Definitely weaker than the first volume. But fortunately, in a similar mirrored way that Vol 1 starts out amazing and peters out a little, this one started out at the bottom but at least resolves somewhat satisfyingly. You’d better enjoy reading Harley books though.

Yeah not really sure what to say about this. I personally think this is one of those classic DC moves where the first one is much better than the second.

The story definitely loses its steam when Tom Taylor isn’t writing the issues, still a good read.

A somewhat fulfilling end to a promising premise. It get dragged out and, at the same time, rushed at the end.

The Injustice story is really legendary. These last couple years weren’t as good as the previous with the gods storyline and the supervillains but it was still a good read, maybe its just cuz those other year were THAT good. The Plastic Man issue was so good tho and was such a good read. Harley’s POV in Ground Zeroes was very interesting, got kinda tiring at times, but still interesting and I like her Harley Horde and some of her interactions. Overall, good story and I still think its a 7/10

The hit and miss art can sometimes look exquisite but Brian Buccellato doesn't have the ability to capture the original Omni's flow, or make the action feel earned, and can't live up to the dialogue and characterisation of Tom Taylor. Dealing with Gods is a charming route to go down and I still am in awe at some of the layouts, so maybe I gave it a star more than I should have. I did skip the Harley re-telling of the videogame.
