Fallen University #1

Fallen University: Year One

Rate this book
Did you know ordinary people can be turned into demons? I sure as f#ck didn’t. Until it happened to me.

One day, I was a regular college student, working a boring job and studying for finals—and the next, I was transformed into some strange creature of the night.

Now I’ve got powers I don’t understand, I can change my appearance with a thought, and I’m having all kinds of odd… cravings.

If I thought all this bullshit was gonna get me out of going to college though, I’ve got another think coming. Nope, I still need an education. Except the classes at Fallen University are on things like “Curses and Hexcraft” and “Magical Combat”.

It’s not all bad. There are these four hot as hell guys I keep bumping into—Kingston, Jayce, Xero, and Kai. I’m not sure if I should trust them; they’ve each got secrets of their own, and they’re definitely dangerous.

But that craving I’ve been having?

It’s pulling me right toward them.

Yup, things are about to get real interesting at FU.

This is book one of the Fallen University trilogy, a reverse harem romance with a slightly snarky heroine and four sexy, supernatural men. It includes cursing and lots of steam and is intended for readers 18+.

Another demonic academy. “Fallen” academies are a dime a dozen but it didn’t stop me enjoying this any less!

Because they are so frequent this will give you feels from a lot of other stuff. It reminded me of A Demons Horns and Academy of Six.
I loved both of those and I loved this too.
✔️ Fated Mates
✔️ Sex magic
✔️The bitchy girl making life hell
✔️Dangerous hunky demons...

Trust me it’s not a glitch in the matrix. This is a different book.
What makes it stand out… The heroine Piper was changed from a human to demon which was pretty funny and original. The relationships are messy and more than 1 guy is unenthusiastic about the bond, so although its fated mates it’s not instalove.
The friendship with the girl turned demon at the same time as her was also nice, Piper took on a protective role and it was good to see a solid girl friendship. You might also be happy to know there’s no bullying from the harem but it does have a little bullying from the rest of the school.
The ending was cliff-hanger as I’ve come to expect now from this kind of book but it left it in a really exciting and completely different place set up for book 2. So I’ll defiantly be continuing on with this.

It was just entertaining funny and enjoyable even if I’ve read a lot of stuff similar recently.

Spoilers ahead

After walking in on her boyfriend cheating the h stumbles across a young woman outside a club who assists her as she thinks she's being followed. The young lady is attacked by a creature and so is the h, she awakens next morning transformed into a demon. The young lady manages to track her down as she too has been transformed. They go off in search of a "cure" but instead end up in a confrontation with a group of people that eventually leads to them being sent to FU. There they attend classes as they seek to learn about their new forms and their power as the fight against the enemy continues.

*******
Firstly I'm calling this read but I skimmed the last maybe 40%. I had issues with this from the beginning but I powered through hoping it'd improve.....unfortunately not

Immediately the h's "voice" annoyed me
The demon attack was described so ridiculously it was comic
Of course it's a University so the mean girls clique must be present
My biggest issue however was the relationship. Now upon entering the school the h feels a burst of attraction/lust/arousal to 4 guys. They make eye contact but the sudden and visceral feelings are on her side. A while after she's injured in an accident and as she kisses the guys it's revealed she's a succubus who bonded to them. Now 2 of the guys spend much time after this incident away from the h as they don't want the connection, one is trying as he knows she's dependent on them and the other is balls to the wall sex.....so he's fueling her daily. The h has an atrocious attitude to this circumstance, she actually confronts the guys and she's angry at them and I'm like wtf? They're actually ALLOWED not to want her!!!! What kinda rapey/forced mating bs is this? If the roles had been reversed what would we have said? I hated the way this played out and detested the h simply because she seemed to feel they should fall in line....the fact remains even if feelings come after....they weren't given a choice and didn't want her perpetually horny, whiny ass!!!!!
I'm hoping later on the bonds are broken and then reformed because they fell in love and chose too....I'm not reading anymore books in this series so I'm rewriting it that way in my head because this is just messed up

2-2.5 stars. I really liked the premise here and I was enjoying it quite a bit until we took a turn into never ending smutville and ended up in no plot progression city. I find myself getting numb to the types of RH where the plot takes a dive to nowhere to make room for the copious amounts of intimate scenes. When the author's only way to develop a "relationship" between 2 or more characters is to just make them want to jump each other constantly instead of taking the time to really right out chemistry it just gets old after a while.. Maybe I'm starting to get into that jaded mindset? I'm ok with insta love/lust if I feel like the chemistry is real. Just because all these characters wanted to be in the BR the entire time doesn't mean that chemistry is instantly created..

As for the plot, I like the premise of "turned" demons protecting humanity from the real demons set on turning the world. I also like how all the different demon spawn? all have different and unique powers. Some of the "insta" mate, love, lust was explained by the FMC's powers and I get it, I do, but I was not a huge fan of this FMC's personality, but in all honesty I felt like I didn't even really get to know her, I mean we were spending all our time in intimate scenes so.. yea.

I'm going to say that despite the premise being great that this may not be for me. I just like a little more depth served with my smut lol. I'll think about this and revisit later.. maybe.

Who knew?

So, sometimes if you get attacked and changed into a demon you end up with a big FU, or Fallen University. The FMC and her soon to be bestie did anyway.

There you might just meet four hot demon guys...a fire demon, a dragon shifter demon, a hellhound, and you guessed it! A vampire!

Xero - fire demon, who before attending FU was in hell being tortured for a couple decades.

Jayce - hellhound, surfer vibe, wants to save the world or be a super hero

Kingston - dragon shifter, secretive, hiding something

Kai - vampire, killed the girl he was in love with or something, stays the furthest from the rest of the group

Things move fast in this book, but that's to be expected with a succubus as a FMC. The instalust happens when she smells them after first arriving at FU.

Somehow none of this makes this book any less of a gem. It was a great read and I am looking forward to the next book.

DANG YOU GOODREADS FOR NOT HAVING 10 STARS AN OPTION!
This book....This book was freaking AMAZING!!! I was addicted from the very first word written. I have so much to say but dont want to spoil anything...Piper is one of my favorite types of heroines. She was mouthy, sassy and badassy :) She didnt let you walk all over her or smart mouth her. She had an unfortunate run in with some type of demon/monster/thingy and woke up looking like a red bodied, horned up demon herself. She ends up at a university for new demons where she meets Kai (vampire), Xero (was in Hell for 20+ years against his will), Kingston (Rich Heir before turned demon) & Jayce (surfer type). Piper finds out she is a succulent and is bonded with these 4 sexy dudes and needs to be sexually stimulated to get most of her power. This book had some freaking HOT scenes!! It has been a few years since I touched a paranormal romance but I have not stopped thinking of this book since I devoured it yesterday. One of my favorite reads this year! Book 2 is my most anticipated read now..Thanks Callie <3

Not for me

Dnf, made about 60% and just couldn't go on any longer. So this is a RH, and our main girl pretty much bonds with complete stranger's , and I do me strangers! Like she just walks in smells these guys and bam bonded. There is no really talking, or hanging out with these guys and yet she needs them to sex her up, problem is it was totally forced on them and they don't really want it so it's awkward. The one guy that is banging her only seems to get down with her for the simple fact of getting laid ( free p****), sort of speak, but by no stretch is there any connection what's so ever between any of these suppose lovers. There is no build up romance at all in this book just a " hey ur a succubus who can sleep with who ever, but these guys are the really juice you need" it's so random that you wish this wasn't a RH. I also want to point out how weird it was that while the school was under attack she used her persuasion to get the students to stop running and fight and they are saying" why is she trying to be a hero" wait a minute ppl! a hero does not force ppl to fight a fight they didn't want to ppl! Seems to be a lot of forcing ppl in this book, not my cup of tea

It was an okay book, but I thought it was kinda long at times because nothing really happened and I did miss a lot more background story into the the whole demon world, the powers they can obtain and which kind of demons you can become. In the beginning we are only told that they are demons and then suddenly we find out that she is a succubus and one of them is a hellhound and i was like "what? They can be different types of demons" - because nothing like this was explained in the book. So that could have been handled better.

Anyway i liked the book at first, but then it just became a little boring midway through. Would have liked to have gotten to know Hannah and the guys a bit better. The story ends with a cliffhanger and what the main conflict really is throughout the book is still very unclear at the end.

I love Callie Rose. Her writing is so fantastic and her characters are so realistic, I feel like I’ve known them forever. This book is action packed. Piper gets turned into a demon and thrusted into this world she knows nothing about. I love her friend Hannah. And I love her relationship with her guys. I am looking forward to learning more about them in the next book!

Narration was perfect! She added drama and excitement. I just loved the way she brought the characters to life.

Piper has had a really bad day.

Her car broke down. She caught her boyfriend in bed with some random chick. She was murdered.

And then she woke up as a demon. A cute, red demon with horns and a tail, but a demon nonetheless. At least she has a friend in Hannah, who was killed and also made a demon by the same random attacker.

Snatched up and whisked away to a modern yet Medieval type castle, Piper and Hannah now find themselves at Fallen University, where they will spend the next three years learning to be proper demons. Piper’s got to keep to the rules, though, because there’s no place left to go other than down, and FU is more than just pass or fail. Piper’s only purpose now is to learn to fight the shades recruited for Gavriel, ruler of the Underworld, in order to save humans.

Piper needs to keep her grades up or she’s out. But how is she ever going to do that when she can’t even think straight around the four hot guys she runs into, who smell amazing and look like sex on sticks?

Ok, this was just a flat out funny read. Hilarious!

Piper is a total trip from beginning to end. She is totally no nonsense and just attacks life (and death) head on. Piper’s reactions to the four guys are priceless, and the longer she’s at school, the more hints there are as to what type of demon she is.

As for the guys, I loved two of them: Jayce, the hot and chill surfer dude; and Kingston, who starts out as an arrogant rich asshat but then kind of switches back and forth. I can’t resist the rich and arrogant ones ya know. It was also refreshing that two of the guys were just not at all interested in Piper at all, which is so different for RHs.

All in all a fun read!

So I think it’s academy trope burn out
But this was like .. blah I mean
Points for ingenuity - it was original having the MC turn into a demon ..

But trope city it was
✔️Magical sex jizz to power out MC up.. “ropes of cum giving her magical powers” 🤮 gross no thanks
✔️ academy “fallen/demon/ “ trope
✔️MC desperate to give blow jobs ... practically gagging for it .... ... I’m over that aspect of the RH world...

It wasn’t a bad read , honestly I think a lot of people would like this book .. really.
It was just a lot of fast burn sex where the sex was forgettable and skippable.the character development stopped at 30% as soon as she walks through the door to the academy she become a sex fiend succubus and all relationships are instalust, regardless of whether the guys arnt 100% keen on the match they all feel her pheromones and want her back .. she doesn’t even necessarily like the guys .... they are hot that’s it. Shit personalities 👀Kingston I’m looking at you. But because the MC now has bonds it’s all steam ahead with ZERO plot progression.

Boring.

This was a good start to a new Paranormal RH series. We are thrust into the world of paranormal almost immediately along with the heroine. In seconds her human life is gone, she has not but a chance to come to terms with this and she’s literally sucked out of that life, sent to Fallen U where she can learn to become a good demon or be banished down below. The speed the story was told kinda annoyed me at times, months passing here, weeks there. If anything it proved more how little Piper even got to know her ‘guys.’ I do appreciate the fact that her guys are not fawning all over her, love at first sight. Unfortunately Piper picks them upon first smell and whether they like it or not, she literally needs them to live, no pressure or anything lol. I did enjoy Piper, she was feisty and outspoken. The overall storyline did a good job setting the stage and now with how this book ended I cannot wait to see where things go from here. They are going to have a lot more problems than skipping exams, when now more then ever they can trust no one. I hope we get to know more about her guys because Kai especially is still a big mystery. But then again how they’ll have time for a relationship now that they’re where they are is anyone’s guess. Hoping there’s less mean-girl action as well because Sonja has just got to go. She pushed all my buttons and her role at the school aside from as a student made no sense to me, so step aside bully and let the real story and action take the stage lol.

Piper was an ordinary university student until she was transformed into a demon one night. When she and Hannah wake up as demons they don't know what to do. They try to get help from a psychic but she only calls the custodians on them. The custodians are about to banish Piper & Hannah to hell when they offer them a choice instead: Fight to protect the human race from demons.

I really enjoyed this story and the university setting. Who wouldn't want to know more about demons!?! Pretty quickly we find out that Piper is a succubus and she needs intimate contact in order to function. She finds out she's bonded to four guys when a metal rebar impales her in their gym/combat class. However, some of the guys aren't too thrilled about this news.

Throughout the story we get to know the guys: Jayce, Xero, Kai and Kingston. Jayce was a bit too enthusiastic for my taste, but I did love how he came to care for Piper. Kai and Kingston still have some ways to go with being okay with the bonded to the succubus relationship. Xero was my ultimate favorite. While he isn't immediately jumping into bed with Piper, he also doesn't outright avoid her. I loved how Piper got to know him and understand his past. When things start seeming to indicate foul play at the university and Xero is blamed, Piper and her other guys immediately defended him and it made my heart so happy.

Besides the sex magic, Piper also has something called persuasion. It's kind of similar to a siren's song. It was really cool to see her fight with it. I think my favorite part was Piper's friendship with Hannah. In the beginning, Hannah was a complete stranger that Piper found so the creepy person following her would leave her alone. Unfortunately that didn't work out for either girl, but it did start an amazing friendship between the two.

The ending was absolutely nuts, and I'll definitely be checking out Year Two.

This was a nice start. I like the fact that they have to be changed and your not like born a demon. I liked the way she found out she was a succubus and how most of her bonded didn't want to be a part of it. I like the introduction to the world and how we get to see some of the lessons and different types of demons. I felt the story line just fell a little flat but then the ending was good. I can't wait to read more to find out what has happened.

Dnf at 40% I may go back but I doubt it. The MC's supposedly bonded 4 guys who wants nothing to do with her. But the problem is there was no build up. She was at the academy for a full week and there was no mention of her actually talking to any of them but 2 and that was on the night they got there. One is way to fucking bubbly for even me. The author made him sound like an annoying teen girl who doesn't care about the mc just wants to fuck her. Not for me!

I devoured this book, it is steamy and a unique idea. The score is reflected in the lack of in-depth character building and it often felt rushed. overall, I will be reading the next one but I do hope we get to see more about the characters.

Okay I have become a huge Callie Rose fan. Who wouldn't with her amazing stories. She has a great gift for the word. So when I heard about Fallen University I was all in. After all its a Callie Rose book. Here instead of mean bullies we love to hate. We get demons. All kinds of Demons. We still get a kick a@@ female. They have all had great funny personalities, but Piper I have to say steals my heart. She has a great personality, she is snarky, has your back and knows what she wants. Her one liners had me rolling.

"All right then, let's get human."

"Demon! Girl, I didn't choose the red life, the red life chose me."

"I like lollipops" ( you'll get this one when you read the scene)

Piper and just met friend Hannah were turned one night. They were attacked by who knows what, but it changed them. When a little misunderstanding happens, they are forced to attend Fallen University. There they must learn about what they have become. Their goal is to graduate after four years and learn how to protect humans from the Fallen working for Gavriel, King of the Underworld. Piper is drawn mysteriously to four guys, Jayce, Kingston, Kai and Xero. Each has their own story, and each one will help Piper in a way she was not expecting. Some very willingly and others not so much. The sex scenes are hot!!! We have a very dirty talking demon who knows how to use his mouth.

Back to the story, someone is sabotaging the school. But who is it? The mean girl who hates Piper? One of her many followers? Someone we haven't seen yet? Or is it someone right under Piper's nose?

Overall, Fallen University is a great start to a funny engaging new paranormal sexy series. Well done Callie, I loved FU!!

I really love this whole world. The humans who have become demons have to go to school to learn to control their new powers before going back into the world to help combat other demons.

It's a bit weird to read a RH with men who resist the MC so much, though.

The ending was a good one for this type of genre. The author sort of completed the main plot thread for this book while ending with a surprise event that will make you want to keep reading the next book without being the type of cliffhanger that makes you angry. (I hate cliffhangers where authors begin a scene and then just stop writing mid-action so that you HAVE to read the next book just to finish the first book.)

I say "sort of completed the main plot thread" because

5 stars for Fallen University year one by Callie Rose. This book is different from other paranormal romances. Piper and Hannah are turned into demons and then brought to Fallen University/ FU by the custodians. Piper is a succubus (which we do not know at first) and has an instant attraction to 4 different types of demons, Kia, Kingston, Xero, and Jayce. I loved the story line in this book. I was instantly drawn in. Piper is an awesome , bada** heroine . She is sassy and a fighter and I just love her character.

I received this book as an ARC, but all opinions are my own.

Yet again, Callie continues to create an amazing book! I have read all of her books so far, and there is not one that I don’t love! I really like how she branches out into the paranormal territory with this book, and she did it extremely well! It was well written, drew you in, there is mystery and sex and humor. I just loved all of it, and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series after that cliffy she left us on! Do yourself a favor and read this book. And if you haven’t read any of her other ones, what are you waiting for? Do it!

What started out as what I thought to be another great read turned out to be a bit of a subpar experience. Piper started out great, but as soon as you know what happened, the book started going down hill for me.

There wasn’t much character development with the guys, and there were major time skips between chapters. You’d finish a chapter, turn the page, and a month would have gone by. When you already feel like you don’t get enough time with the characters to get to know them, skipping a month of their life is not helpful.

There were definitely some cheesy lines thrown in throughout the book as well, and the plot was a little bit predictable; especially if you have read a few series in this genre before.

Overall, I’m disappointed.

3 stars because it was "okay."

I mean, the story was okay. The characters were okay. The romance was okay.

Clearly, everything was just okay.

I mean, most of the chapters were "weeks went by" and nothing was really happening. I mean, a reverse harem romance where the guys don't want her because....why? I mean, Jayce wanted her. The other guys didn't want to want her. I will admit the scene with Xero and Jayce was hot as hell and that alone was a single star in my rating lol

But everything just felt flat for a paranormal reverse harem romance. Too much filler and wannabe bully drama without hitting the mark. I don't think I'll continue this series. At least for now.

Kindle Unlimited.

This was not my favorite.

There wasn't enough world-building for me. There was no real explanation as to how you become a demon, or how it's decided what species of demon you become. For a book that takes place IN A UNIVERSITY, there's also very little learning happening. I feel like this could've been a great opportunity for the author to explain things, but she never did.

The Sonja drama felt contrived and a little ridiculous, and the chemistry between the succubus and her four chosen wasn't there for me.

Definitely different. A reverse harem, dark academia fantasy where humans are turned into demons by the underworld but given a last chance to protect humanity by attending and graduating from Fallen University.

I didn’t hate it. The writing is pretty basic but ok. And the world building could use some polish. But the premise is intriguing and the spice is good. I hope there’s more development of the magic systems and explanations of the powers of each type of demon in the next book.

This one was definitely different. It starts off right in the thick of the story, no slow lead up, I like that. I enjoyed the story, but I didn't really connect with the characters. They didn't have a lot of depth to them. The main character didn't really seem to be affected by anything and didn't show emotion. I'm not sure if I'll read the second one or not. The idea of the story is great, but it needs something more to make it a great story.
