My review :

When they link force to fight an unknown threat, will her insecurities keep them apart...

How I love these Farthingales women and Braydens men! Their first encounter always leads to disaster, a disaster moving to a charming romance.
And here Mrs Meara Platt does not disappoint, this book of love has its own power, bringing together fated mates.
Finn is a dream of a man, from the very beginning he shows his integrity, how honorable he is. And as the story progresses, his caring and protectiveness but also his will to see Belle be her own woman.
All along, he supports Belle but she is very unwilling to trust him, with patience and gentleness, he slowly proves her he is not one to run away whatever they might face.
Belle has a talent that is behind her family’s business success. But outside it, she does not see her worth, and she stubbornly even refuses to accept Finn’s suit because of the broken image she has of herself.
I can understand when repeatedly you are told you are fragile, you might believe it but fragile does not mean unlovable and damaged.
Why at time I was a bit upset at her rambling about her unworthiness.
She was lucky it was Finn, a Brayden, so honor bound to do the right thing and to persevere when she tried to push him away.

Now I am curious about Finn’s brothers and Belle’s sister.

Absolutely beautiful read. Finn was her hero from the start, Belle just needed time to realize her beauty and worth. Don’t miss their wonderful journey, with Finn never far from her side, as they follow and listen to love’s powerful force in their hearts and bodies.

I wondered if my grumpiness didn’t allow me to give the first book in the series a chance. So when I went back to read it, I felt pretty justified that my initial opinion was correct… I didnt have issues with the subject matter or synopsis; it was the writing that didnt appeal to me.

Which makes it kind of confusing that I enjoyed Book 4 and 5. The writing flows a lot better. The heroine in this novel is a perfumer with “asthma” (I think its more of a panic disorder), suffers from low self-esteem because she thinks of herself as a burden. The hero was introduced in Book 4 as a financial genius. They team up to solve a mystery about her father’s business. I still found the “Book of Love” prop distracting, but the couple was cute and had adorable banter.

Overall they’re simple insta-lust books, I guess reading them with that in mind helps. The heroines are innocent virgins, the heroes are single-minded alphas, the villains are bad but no further motivations explored. Sometimes we like to shut our brains off for a relaxing read, these books are perfect for that.

5 STARS FOR BOOK 5, ANOTHER FARTHINGALE & BRAYDON IN LOVE

Finn & Bluebelle, the ones who have the Book of Love during this period of enlightenment for Belle & the mystery of her Father's strange dangerous behavior. I love this story because Finn takes the Book & reads it more to see if it could help him make any sense to his feelings; so yes it did. He already loved Belle, but was having a hard time making her feel worthy as even when he exclaimed his love & he was marrying Belle in front of her parents & others they ignored him to assume he meant her sister Holly. Wonderfully, Finn with his intelligence & planning with his brother's military help solved her Father's problem making her & her family's business very safe; then cunningly married Belle. Belle had finally admitted her love and it was funny & witty with character emotion spilling over that Finn had achieved that. He also discovered how deeply he loves Belle & the deeper meaning to little things such as her natural scent and his self sureness helped Belle to start believing! Great characters, from the past Books in the Series, some new ones that might be in future Books & villains I hope are punished & gone. On to Book 6! Recommend

YES!
+Hmmm...

NO!
-Um...there's no fake courting happening? They were suppose to be fake dating!
-Belle's father started locking up their store's ledgers, so she assumes they're being robbed. What?! This plot is the majority of the book.
-Belle has asthma but it reads like panic attacks.
-Boring.

The first 80% of the book was fine but after that it was rather boring and I stopped caring. The whole mystery/secret seemed rather stupid but maybe that’s my modern thinking when this book is set long ago.

So...

Belle and Finn meet at a party and things get awkward so they avoid each other for 3 months until she comes to ask him for help. He’s a financial genius and something suspicious is going on with her father and their family perfume business. She wants Finn to pretend to court her so he can come visit her family so he can help her look over her father’s ledgers to see if someone is stealing from the business. He agrees but this plot quickly goes out the window because he had fallen for her for real while they have been spending time together studying the book of love to aid in their pretense. She however feels like no one will ever lover her because she has help problems. A breathing problem I’m assuming is like asthma though they don’t really give it a name. How she thinks so little of herself is all heartbreaking and then the way her family treats her makes no sense. Yes she has a problem but it’s like on one hand when they do go to her home the parents assume Finn is interested in her sister who he shows no interest in whatsoever and even as he’s trading glances with Belle in their presence. Because of course nobody could ever want her. Otherwise they seem so loving so it’s really weird and it’s weird once they have other friends visiting how it’s portrayed that everybody thinks he would be courting Honey and not her despite him not spending time with Honey or being alone or near her. The whole thing about her being so fragile and being taught that she’s less than just isn’t shown well once she goes home.
Anyway...
The situation isn’t what they think it is and blah blah it’s really boring once they go to Oxford. Once the big secret is revealed it’s rather anticlimactic. And the blackmailer doesn’t even have proof so why are they allowing this? So Finn has a plan and you can guess how things go and married happily ever after blah blah. I’m kind of already pre-rolling my eyes for Honey’s book because her big secret that means she can’t ever marry is stupid. I get it the times are vastly different now than they were then but still it’s not that serious. But I do want to read Holly’s book because I’ve been wanting to read one not about a silly young girl. Though I do find all of the Farthingales rather silly.
So... I liked Belle and Finn they just really deserved a better story but I get it the series is rather lighthearted but still they deserved better.

The Scent of Love by Meara Platt is the fifth in the Book of Love series. This is a very cute series revolving around a book: the Book of Love, that appears to cause people to fall in love with one another, even people determined not to fall in love at all. Belle Farthingale is a lovely young woman who suffers from what we now call asthma. Because of this, her family, friends, and even herself, believes she cannot live a normal life and that no one would ever want to marry her. When she has an attack at a tea party, Finn Brayden comes to her rescue and puts her in a very compromising position as he tries to blow air into her lungs to get her breathing again. Lady Dayne, who is a notorious gossip and thoroughly enjoys forcing marriages after witnessing a young lady being compromised, has kept still about what she witnessed. Finn has stayed clear for several months as well but hasn't stopped thinking about Belle, until one day; there she is, in his office, asking for help. Helping her will involve a bit of role-play, as in he courting her. Then things get interesting.

This is the cutest series. As it happens, Belle is perfectly able to live a normal life, and she proves it to everyone. She also sets out to prove that the powers of the book can be resisted. She is a quick and clever young woman who cares deeply about her family. They care about her, as well. They just don't see her realistically. Finn is a delightful young man who starts off wanting to help Belle with the problems her family is having. It is not long before he finds himself needing to convince her to love him. He is an upstanding, cordial, handsome young man who is willing to help a friend. This is a wonderful book about two people falling in love as they struggle to solve a mystery that is destroying Belle's family. I totally enjoyed reading it. I recommend it and the other books in the series.

I received a free ARC of The Scent of Love from Dragonblade in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions and interpretations contained herein are solely my own.

Beautifully romantic, a story that captivated me on the first page with Finn and Belle. I could only think of him as a Knight, uppermost in his mind to help a lady in distress, no matter what the cost.

Before he even was introduced to her, he became mesmerized "There was something about Belle that caught his attention and quickened his heart. He could count a hundred debutantes with blue eyes and blond hair, but Belle's features captivated him. Her blues eyes were swirling and ever changing like the waters of the ocean. They were dangerous eyes, capable of drowning a man in their depths."
Finn Brayden won my heart with his poetic thoughts and chivalrous manners and how he only wanted to help Belle at their first meeting when she had an attack and could not breath. He was actually prepared to do more since they were caught in a precarious situation.
Belle... adored her and she was lovely inside and out. She thought no man should sacrifice himself and be saddled with her due to her occasional health issues.
They come back together when she needs his help to secretly take a peek at her father's books for their perfume business. She and her sister are certain someone was stealing from the business and they want to stop them.
The plan. A house party, pretending he was courting her (she thought he was like a dark haired Apollo, the embodiment of a Greek god, he was so handsome, sigh), stealing into her father's study when he would not suspect. Simple.. oh you just have to see!
Meara Platt is a writer of the heart. She magically weaves a spell with her inspiring pen and captures the reader until the last page, only to dream of her next story. Simply wonderful...

Finn Brayden is one of the Brayden men, which means he automatically is handsome, kind, honorable & protective. He is the second son of an Earl & is a prominent Financial Advisor with some very important clients & friends - one of which is Prinnie himself.

Belle Farthingale is a beautiful, intelligent daughter of a successful perfume business & she, because of her sensitive nose, is the Fragrance Specialist that creates the wonderful perfumes, soaps & bath oils they sell in their shops. She has grown up with a breathing problems - asthma in today's world & her family has always treated her with kid gloves & she feels she is not worthy of love, family of her own because of her affliction.

Belle & Finn meet at an afternoon garden tea party when he comes upon her having a breathing problem - he manages to get her alert, breathing & summons help from her family. The fireworks were felt by both of them & this fun romp had humor, suspense, romance, love, a bit of spice & of course, The Book of Love that they read together. I love Finn so much in his plight to convince Belle that she was not inferior because of her breathing condition & also, to have her believe he was in love with her just the way she was. I highly recommend this book & this entire series! Meara Platt writes the best characters that you fall in love with & entertaining stories that pulls you into their world - another fantastic read!

💋💋

Beautiful, emotional and touching .

Finn Brayden will have your heart in about 2 pages, he’s a gentleman, he’s thoughtful, compassionate, protective and the hero every woman wishes she had.

Belle Farthingale is a beautiful soul with a gift that earns her family a fortune.
She doesn’t see that her true worth is in her soul, only Finn and her sister see ,she is as beautiful inside as she is stunning outside.

Her parents don’t even think of a match for their damaged daughter, her asthma attacks making her a lost cause.
Only Finn sees her , he feels her pain , sees her joy , will she see what he sees, and finally except his proposal?

This book gave me shivers in the best way, so wonderful to read .
The emotions coming from Finn, the pain from Belle.
Just perfect in every way , a real emotional rollercoaster.
Highly recommend

Belle Farthingale is the "nose" in her family's perfume business. At the moment though, she and her sister have been sent to their uncle's house in London to enjiy the season and maybe find husbands.  Belle knows that's never going to happen for her because of her weakness.  That's fine for her because she loves making the perfumes.

Finn Brayden comes from a family of big strong men and he is a well respected financial advisor. When a young lady he rescued a few months, ago comes to him for help his protective instinct kicks into high gear.

A really fun story with fabulous characters.  There is a villian threatening our heroine's family.  Can our hero fix it??  It's very emotional at times because of our heroine's doubts.

This is part of a fabulous series that should be read in order, but each book can be read alone.

Great fun.

Bella Farthingale now has possession of “The Book of Love”. This book has worked a form of magic in making young ladies and men fall in love. Or so it seems. Bella came into its possession just before a garden party, where she has asthma attack, and passes out into the arms of Finn Brayden. Finn, being a gentleman, helped Bella during her attack. Naturally, the guests saw the whole affair and Bella and Finn knew they would be the talk of town. Finn stayed away from Bella for three months until the day, Bella went to Finn to help her with a financial problem. I love the banter between them, as they worked to find who was blackmailing her parents and why. The characters in this book are wonderful, full of loving family bonds and the Farthingale cousins are just as lovable as her sisters and Finn’s brothers. The Scent of Love is a very delicious read in our world today.

Belle in love

Finn is a intelligent businessman, ruthless if need be and totally business savy! I have read about him previous stories and sweet fragile Bluebelle aka Belle was not who I would have picked for this big, strong tall man's man!!! But Belle it is after she began to see her own self worth! It took some doing but listening to her own parents comments about her and the rest of the family well!!! A blind man could see they discounted her worth glaringly! But Belle parents are in trouble and when they are blackmailed for some past mistakes Finn steps in with reinforcement to help them out!! How Honey and Belle came from those two well nothing short of a miracle! These stories have a way of drawing you in and you cheer or groan from the sidelines! Belle was a surprise and Finn definitely the hero! These two work and I didn't think they would!! Bravo!!!

Really good fun!

Finn Brayden is a second son of an English earl and a well known financial advisor in London. While at a tea hosted by a family friend, he ‘runs into’ the lovely Belle Farthingale. This meeting is unusual and quite embarrassing for both. Belle is the lovely daughter of a wealthy merchant perfumer, and a member of a large extended family.
This tale is a romantic comedy involving these two characters, a mystery, a bit of danger, and a touch of heat.
I was thoroughly entertained by Finn’s pursuit of Belle, who isn’t exactly self confident, but has unusual talents that benefit her family. The other parties to this story are colorful and interesting as well. This is the fifth book in this series, although a stand-alone, and I’m looking forward to the next two tales to curl up with and enjoy. I recommend it!

This is book 5 of the Book of Love series. Belle Farthingale meets Finn Brayden in an unusual way at a tea party. Belle has what seems to be asthma, if named with today’s terms. In regency period she had weak lungs. Belle has an attack and Finn helps her to breath. I’m not sure the techniques used are accurate to the time period, but you can’t have your heroine die.
Belle seeks Finn’s financial genius a few months later to help her and Honey to figure out what is wrong at her father’s perfume shops.
Finn and Belle study the Book of Love and Finn is already in love with Belle. Belle has been told she is damaged her entire life so it takes some convincing for her to accept Finn’s love.
There is the requisite secret and bad guys. This is a nicely written story.
I enjoy this Book of Love series. This one is a bit more demonstrative than some of them.

Belle Farthingale is a beautiful young woman who lacks the confidence to live her life that is in all except in the family business she has no doubt of her abilities she’s the "nose" in her family's perfume business. At a party she has an asthma attack and Flinn Brayden is there to rescue her, in what appears a compromising position. He becomes her confidant as they grow closer to one another reading the “Book of Love” and finding the mystery surrendering her family business, her family with a little blackmail involved. Can their love overcome any obstacle, will Belle have the confidence to trust herself and her love for Flinn? A great love, loyalty and betrayal. An excellent story I loved and I voluntarily wrote a review.

Spectactular!

The Scent of Love, the fifth installment of Meara Platt’s Book of Love series, is a wonderful addition to the collection. Once again, Platt has woven a tale that brings together two people, Finn and Belle, who meet in most unusual circumstances, which could have been scandalous. Lucky for them it wasn’t, so why is Finn so disappointed? Then Belle comes to Finn and asks him to hep her get to the bottom of something mysterious going on with her family. Finn agrees to help, which means they will have to pretend to be courting, so they use the Book of Love, to learn about how to find love. Can they solve the mystery that’s plaguing Belle’s family, and can Finn convince j

I enjoyed this.

Honestly, I don't know what it is about these books. The writing in them is a little average (and as others mentioned in previous books, not always very accurate). The characters are a little stiff and shallow at times. And yet there's something quite charming about the stories and it keeps me reading.

I will say that the stories are getting less clean as we go on (so be warned if that bothers you!). I've read much more detailed books, but we've definitely strayed further from clean romance than the earlier books in this series. That's not a criticism, merely a heads-up as not everyone likes that.

I love this book and love this series.

Belle is the next lady to get the Book of Love

Will she find the man for her.

Finn Brayden comes to help her. She is worried about her father and why is he is being so mysterious.

They work together and they even start to read the book.

Belle does not think she is the right woman for Finn.

Finn finds that Belle is the woman he wants and he wants to marry her.

They slowly come to find that love that is meant just for them.
The love that has been there and they found it with each other.

I will read more of her books and more of this series.

I love the covers. Great Art work.

Scent-suel

Belle creates perfume and Finn is a successful financier. When the first meet it is quite amusing. Even though it takes a couple of months before they see each other, Belle asks for a big favor. She needs Finn to pretend to court her in order for him to peruse her father's financial records secretly. But first they must spend time together for it seem real. The Book of Love becomes involved. Oh my when this book is involved they are doomed for their courting to be real. I must say I dearly enjoy this series.

A book of love?

Belle is the youngest Farthingale and has asthma. Her parents loving though they are, have treated her as unlovable because of it. Finn meets her at a garden party and saves her life. She comes into possession of a book called The Book of Love and shares it with Finn Before they can read it her parents are acting strangely and need help. Belle and her sister plan a garden party as a ruse to find out what’s wrong. Finn, his brother Joshua and Belles sister Honey make a discovery that includes blackmail and danger. Great story.

This book was very middle of the road.

I'm done with the book of love gimmick. Do something different with it, or stop writing the scene where the hero and heroine read the first chapter together. It's boring at this point.

I liked the idea of a heroine with a chronic health condition, but her insecurity got tedious fast. Especially when the hero was telling her he loved her without any ambiguity.

I wish the villain was an actual character in the book. It was hard to take his threat seriously when he's just this nebulous idea off the page.

Enchanting

What is not to love about a Farthingale? And Belle is a Farthingale with a talented nose, that she uses to make perfume for her families business. Finn is a Braden and Bradens are big, strong, loyal and protective. So when Belle and her family are threatened, Finn steps in. I love Meara Platt, her books are well written, her characters have depth and seem to be someone you would love to meet. Well worth the read.

A Cup of spilled tea started it all!

The magical book of love was in Finn Brayden’s hands and he was seeing Belle Farthingale in ever page. Her sorceress book of Touch, Taste, Sight, Smell & Hearing had toppled him like a giant fallen oak tree. Belle was forever thinking she was inferior. Her asthma only made Finn want to protect and love her more. They had conquered the book of love and found a forever love, but who will get this magical book next?

A Very Enjoyable book

I enjoyed very much, in fact I have enjoyed the complete series. Things start to happen from the first, no waiting till half way Through the Book, or maybe almost at end for couple to begin to enjoy each other. The complete story is very fast moving. No dragging everything out. It has intrigue, humor, romance, and touch of spice. I suggest reading in order and highly recommend this and complete series.

Another Hit

This is the fifth book in this series and it doesn't disappoint! I loved every minute I spent reading it. I also like how a little bit of humor is always in each of Meara Platts' books in this series. I never get tired reading about those Farthingale girls. Finn and Belle were the latest hero and heroine in the story. I can't wait until the next book comes out!

Once given the Book of Love, the holder's fate is cast. Belle Farthinggale is given the Book by her cousin Violet and immediately runs into Finn Brayden. Will the Book work it's magic once again?

Delightful and fun. Another chapter in the Curse of Chipping Way!
