This manga is better served in manageable chunks. Volume 8 is a great example. It has a two-chapter story and a charming one and done. It doesn't leave the reader exhausted like a recent lengthy story arc.

Bumping this up from 2 to 4 stars
I liked this one WAY more than the previous read. I think these longer chapters are starting to grow on me--they're effectively mini-arcs. And as someone who loves dolls in horror situations, this was a great arc. I also loved the commentary on how the desire for revenge can consume you, but the revenge itself ultimately means nothing. A bitter pill to swallow, but a worthwhile message. Also, Tae-san is a pretty cool character and I loved her relationship with the monster cat. Final note, I actually really like how dysfunctional Kotoko's and Kuro's relationship is. A lot of supernatural romances try to act like relationships like these can be the same as nonsupernatural romances, but In/Spectre balances this out by having two people be together that genuinely love each other, but also have fatal flaws that make them fight and yet only the other can tolerate. It can seem annoying, but I think it's really refreshing.
Anyway, I really liked this volume and like the attention to other cases aside from Rikka. Keep the good vibes rollin'.

The wooden doll story was interesting, but ended anticlimactically. I did like seeing hex dolls included in this world's lore, but it wasn't enough to keep me invested. Also, as much as I love Kuro and Kotoko's relationship, her nagging and total disregard for his boundaries is starting to get annoying and his refusal to give her even a little affection is annoying as well. On top of that, the final chapter didn't add anything and was just her bitching at him. Not sure what the point of it was, honestly.
