Ripple Effect

Rate this book
I’ve experienced the ways love can change a poor man into a rich one, a sinner to a saint, and make people beg for redemption.

Yet nothing I’d ever done was as profound as marrying the woman I love.

Every mission I took was a risk worth taking knowing I'd go home to her loving arms.

What I didn’t know was in my quest to right all the wrongs of the world, I was destroying the only part of it I’d die for - my marriage.

The ripple effect of miscommunication and the sin of my omissions would change all of our lives.

And it would be my wife who would pay the price.

Tracey Jerald knew she was meant to be a writer when she would re-write the ending of books in her head on her bike when she was a young girl growing up in southern Connecticut. It wasn’t long before she was typing alternate endings and extended epilogues “just for fun.”
After college in Florida, where she obtained a degree in Criminal Justice swearing she saw things she’ll never quite believe and never entirely forget, Tracey traded the world of law and order for IT. Her work for a global internet startup transferred her to Northern Virginia where she met her husband in what many call their own happily ever after. They have one son.
When she’s not busy with her family or writing, Tracey can be found in her home in north Florida drinking coffee, reading, training for a runDisney event, or feeding her addiction to HGTV.

I don't know what people think about love, marriage, trust and loyalty. But I certainly didn't see any of that in this book. The guy says he loves the woman from the first day he saw her but he keeps fucking countless women and rubbing it in her face during years (!). After being married he still thinks that she is a weak person, unable to cope with the reality of his work and therefore lies to her throughout their entire marriage (6 years!). And all of that lying ends up leading to an incident that causes her a miscarriage. It's clear that the author had to make her go through a life or death situation to realize "how small it is" and now his became her "savior". Because thare is no way that justified take back a man who betrayed on her the whole time they were together:

“Don’t take this the wrong way, Cal, but you’re a fucking idiot if you don’t find a way to fight this,” Sam told me.

"I shoved off the couch in the common room and yelled, “Don’t you think I know that? For God’s sake, Sam, she’s the best part of my life.”

"Iris regarded me coolly. “We’ve all heard that, Cal, but you never let her in. And you had plenty of time to.”

"I shook my head. “She can’t handle this kind of life,” I protested. “Just because I’m protecting her doesn’t mean I don’t love her.”

“It means you’re a damned fool,” she growled at me. “The Elizabeth Sullivan who I just encountered isn’t weak; she’s a woman. And women in love are the strongest and most dangerous creatures on the planet. We’ll do anything to nurture those we love, and we’ll do anything to harm those who threaten them.” Iris rubbed her cheek."

"I still can’t believe my wife took a swing at her. “I apologize again…” But Iris cut me off.

“Do you have any idea what I’d do if I thought Sam was screwing around on me? If she ever forgives any of us for this, I’m going to have to teach her to hit though; she hurt herself in the process.” Iris glared at me like this is my fault, not the imagination of my wife. My ex-wife if she gets her way.

"Which she won’t."

“We’re bound by an oath…” I started to say, but before I got another word out, my partner and his wife were laughing in my face."

“And you could have got her cleared, Cal.” Sam’s face sobered up. “Don’t take this the wrong way,” he began."

“Is there going to be a right way?” I interjected.

“Probably not,” he admitted. “But you liked having the extra excitement of the dual life. It kept your adrenaline up when the missions were over.”

“That’s a damned lie!” I shouted.

“Then tell me why you’ve been married for six years and your wife still has no fucking clue what it is we do?” Sam shouted back. “Businessmen? What the fuck do we sell?”

"Swiping up the bottle on the table, I drank from it long and well before answering, “Ourselves. So people like my wife can have their dreams and never realize this country is constantly in danger.”

"Sam exhaled harshly before turning his back to me. “Yeah.”

Iris wasn’t quite done though. “The woman who’s my daughter’s godmother just told me to go to hell, Cal. And that’s entirely on you. If you’d told her—”

“Then what? Every time I’d have left, Libby would have panicked!”

“But at least she’d still be in your bed and not being hit on over the strawberries because she’s not wearing her wedding rings anymore.” With that final blow, Iris stormed out of the room."

...................

"I’ve been praying for the life nestled deep inside of me. In the depth of my heart, I’ve already forgiven Cal. And I forgave myself. Why did it take something as catastrophic as this for me to realize the man I love wouldn’t have tried so hard to make me listen if he truly didn’t have an explanation?"
..................

And of course, in the end she still feels guilty for having misinterpreted TO SEE HER HUSBAND KISSING HER BEST FRIEND. Yes, what a horrible, heartless person she is! And of course he is the hero who lied to her for YEARS for her own sake ... yeah, yeah ok. Now, please tell me something I haven't heard yet. 😒😒😒😒

Oh hellll fucking no. There are scenes with the hero picking up other chicks in front of the heroine. Get the fuck outta here with that trash

“At least now that I’m old enough to drink, I can drown the agony of the rumors of how he fucks like the end of the world is coming before he rolls out of whatever bed he’s in.”

““He’s not looking down at the woman he’ll likely take home later, I think with my heart pounding. He’s watching me”

Here’s a quote from the pathetic excuse for a hero

“My heart rate starts to accelerate faster than if I’ve just clocked five miles. And my cock? It’s harder than if one of the women I’ve fucked since I’ve been here has lavished attention on it for hours.
Because it’s just Libby. And the truth is she’s the only thing I’ve ever wanted in a life where I’ve been given nothing.”

Dirty fucking pig with a pathetic doormat of a heroine

Here is my unpopular opinion: this book made me angry. No, it made me furious. If the author was going for stirring up emotions - mission accomplished. If she was intent on creating drama for drama's sake - bingo. But in my opinion that shit gets old fast.

Setting aside the fact that the author knows how to create incredibly interesting characters, and can weave words together like nobody's business, at least 50% of this book is based on a lack of communication. (Not just a lack, an honest to *your deity of choice* conscious decision to hold back crucial information.) To me, this is an incredibly lazy tool that a lot of romance writers utilize in order to build conflict.

Having experienced blatant lying like this in my personal life, this is a very sensitive subject for me. Granted. But this went beyond secrets and lies between two people. (And if that's the way you want to live your life like Libby, if you choose to ignore warning bells and continue to allow your partner to treat you with disrespect, if you want to live half a life and wallow in sadness and pain ... more power to you.) Cal's choices affected Libby's relationships with her cousin and her best friend/roommate. How fucking selfish! That was something I could not forgive: taking the choice out of their hands to be completely honest with this person they've know practically forever, and not only making them uncomfortable for years but also casting a shadow over all their interactions. For. Years.

Sure, Cal had a blindspot about the situation due to his childhood, but he did Libby a great disservice by not trusting her with the truth. (If she were going to leave once everything was revealed, did he really want to be married to her anyhow?) Then he heaped lie upon lie upon lie on top of that secret until it literally blew up in his face. How Sam and Iris didn't get more irritated with Cal over the years is beyond me. He's going to force them to lie/withhold the truth from someone they've loved for longer than Cal has known her and they don't push back? Hells to the no.

And don't get me started on his whorish ways at the beginning. If you're going to have Cal love her from the moment they met or he saw her or whatever, don't have him picking up women in front of her. That's not only cliche but that is not a healthy way of demonstrating his feelings. That just makes me angry. (It's another example of lazy writing, and it feeds into abuse culture where women read books like this and think "If I love him enough I can change him" or "If he loves me enough he'll change his ways." No he won't, Becky, and no you can't.)

The saving grace of this book is that it starts off in the present, so you already have an idea of how it's going to end. It's just struggling through the journey (shown in flashbacks) of how they got to that place that you've got to endure.

Overall, the writing in this book is spectacular. The pacing is well done, the characters and dialogue are on point. And, again, it got me all emotional. Just not in the way I think the author intended. (I think it took me a good four or five days to calm down from my rage.) I'd love for her to try something new now. Set the tired tropes aside, and the drama for drama's sake, and the lack of clear communication. How about a nice rom com?

This was a pretty good low drama marriage in trouble trope book. The blurb is pretty vague, so I’ll give you the bones… please STOP if you want ZERO deets.

3.5 STARS

2020 has been the year of new-to-me authors. I've made it a conscious effort to finally check out some of the many authors I've never read or, as in the case of Tracey Jerald, pick up books from authors I'd previously been unfamiliar with solely because the blurb sounded so good! That's what happened with Ripple Effect, a story about a married couple whose lies of omission and inability to listen cause violent ripples to tear through their relationship. I knew this storyline sounded like my kind of tea and I was not wrong!

I picked this book up mainly because the couple is married. I love a story where the couple is deeply committed but circumstances slowly chip away at their foundation until they find themselves shattered and heartbroken, unsure if things can ever be repaired. I LIVE for stories that physically pain my heart and it's been a good while since I've read a book that caused my heart to twinge and ache like Ripple Effect did. It hurt, this story, delivering actual stabs of pain, as I felt the ripple effect of Calhoun Sullivan's secrets, witnessed the loneliness and insecurities creep in on Libby. The longing and the uncertainty and the eventual distrust that builds in the wake of his inability to tell his wife the truth is a palpable force in this book and if you live for that ache like I do, you'll want to read this book.

Ripple Effect is a second chance romance and the way it unfolds is completely refreshing and addictive. You know how it begins and you get a good idea of how it ends pretty much right away. But the "in between", the rise and fall of this marriage, the heartwrenching course of events that reveals itself at a painstaking pace is rich with heartache and steam, suspense and devastation. There's no way you won't feel all the things on these pages and you'll be desperately turning the pages just to see what happens next.

Cal and Libby's story is decidedly outside the box. It's refreshingly original, rife with emotion and agonizingly suspenseful. I very much enjoyed this story and the author's writing and storytelling. I so appreciate when an author sets out to write a book that's so unlike everything else out there. Ripple Effect is different; it's achingly raw and with its element of suspense and secrecy, it's a story you will devour eagerly just to see how it all unfolds. I found a gem in Tracey Jerald and it has me even more energized to continue picking up books by authors I've not yet read because Tracey Jerald is proof that there's great stories by even greater storytellers yet to be found! This was my first read of hers but it certainly will not be my last.

I really enjoyed this. But not going to lie many will not like the H Cal. Libby the herione lied to for years about Cal's real job finally cracks and asks for a divorce after spying him kiss her bf Iris. Which is probably the worst in the book because of his explanation. Honestly why the author threw that in had me scratching my head because that was a very un Cal move. His explanation of it just being spontaneous because Iris was retiring from their military contractor work and was happy for her was just added I'm guessing for angst. It wasn't romantic at all as her husband and Libby's cousin Sam was in the room with them, but still. I put it in the lines of cheating. If your lips touch another woman's that for me is crossing the line whether you swear up and down it wasn't on purpose. Anyways, had to clear my head with that. I liked the h Libby. She was strong but also very much in love with Cal so she let him walk all over her for his "job." Cal keeping what he really did for work for six years of their marriage blew up in his face as it should have. He was completely selfish and actually only thinking of himself in my opinion. When Sam told him he did it because he liked the duel lifestyle I completely agreed with him. No matter how hard Cal swore up and down that wasn't the case. Both coming from completely different lifestyles, and Cal never being honest from the get go about who he was was actually sad to be honest. Year's wasted in my opinion. Which I'm beginning to see this author likes. So if you don't like year's of separation or partial truths while together you might not like her stories. The writing was good and I'll continue to check out this author's books

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 “I wasn’t meant to know what love was until I met Libby Akin. Now that I do, I realize it’s a circle, because she’s the beginning and the end of it for me.”
.
Calhoun comes from a broken past. He has never experienced a love like he’s found with his wife Elizabeth. Whiles he is out on missions, helping make right all the wrongs in the world, his marriage is failing. The ripple effect of his miscommunication and lies ends up changing everyone’s lives and hurting the only person he cares about- his wife.✨
.
If you love:
•Second Chances
•Dual timelines
•Secretive Ops Hero
•Angst
•Dual POV
Then this is the book for you!✨
.
You know those cute, short and sweet romance stories? This book is definitely not one of those. This book takes you on a journey. It has substance. Depth. Secrets and lies. Trauma. It kept me up late into the night. It feels like nothing I’ve read before. It has dual timelines, switching from past to present. And it just flowed so perfectly. I was so invested in seeing the story play out.✨
.
Cal is that protective hero with a broken past. But still so romantic. But boy did you want to smack some sense into him once in awhile. Libby was strong, independent and boy could be she funny. I loved the humour injected in this book at times. It had me laughing out loud.✨
.
But when Libby hurt, you hurt. The emotion I felt the most while reading was angst. Their love story wasn’t an easy one. And I actually really enjoy that in a romance book. I felt like this book delivers a good take home message about communication. What we say or don’t say can have ripple effects. Especially to those closest to you. It’s so important to mindful.✨
.
This is definitely a book you should check out! It is my first book of this author and it was a pleasure to read. I look forward to reading more by this author!✨
I was provided with an ARC for my honest review.✨

I am trying to put into words how I'm feeling since finishing Ripple Effect. My emotions were all over the place. I "felt" the love that Libby and Cal had. The depth of their love had no end:

"Does it matter? Or does it matter that I'll love you every night you close your eyes and every day you open them."

That statement right there is how this book flows; the feelings you will experience while reading Ripple Effect will have no bounds:

"My heart isn't complete without his beating close by"

When an author can write a story within a story, that to me, shows that the author has the ability to bring to life her characters in a way that the reader will connect with.

I have been a fan of Tracey's since I read her "Free to Dream" series and Ripple Effect just cements my love for her as a person and for a writing. She will always be a one-click author me.

Holy hell. I knew that this author was gifted but sweet lord this was extraordinary. I wasn't prepared for it which is surprising because as I just said this author is amazing. There is a level of depth in the smallest of details that always draws me in. Add-in, the specific cadence, and stylistic choices that she uses to create a sentence that has a poetic feel to it are mind-boggling.

This is a story about how lies, even if for the right reasons, can cause a ripple effect and destruction to the most solid of foundations. Cal and Libby should have been the picture-perfect couple. They appeared to have that serendipitous spark from their first connection. However, if there isn't any truth then it is doomed to fail because it just appears to be perfect when in reality their relationship is flawed. Both of these characters are strong on their own but together they were magic.

This story is told in a past and present way. I was confused at first as to why Libby was talking to the person that she was about the past considering how far back it was when the details come out as to what happened that changed Libby. However, it all clicked at the end and it made perfect sense. My heart hurt for what they both went through. Yet, sometimes it takes something major to remind us of what we are about to lose before it clicks that we need to fight like hell to hold on to it.

Fantastic epilogue, fantastic characters, a STUNNING cover, and an important lesson to be had in this book. I highly recommend it.

Tracey Jerald has written her best book yet!

This is a romance story that will drag you in from the off, and as the story of Cal and Libby's relationship unfolds, you will be drawn in by the clever writing style, to the point that you won't be able to put it down.

This heartfelt, emotional story, tells a tale of how one lie can have a catastrophic ripple effect on everyone involved. The story goes back and forth between present day and the past, which very cleverly adds to the suspense and intrigue.

This is a profound and emotional read and one that packs a punch, in terms of drama and keeping you guessing all along. The speed at which the story unfolds is perfect, and at no point will you find yourself bored of the plot or pace.

And the epilogue? Well, it is perfect in every way, but if you're already a big fan of Tracey Jerald, and have read her previous books, it will leave you with the BIGGEST smile on your face. No spoilers here, but all I'm going to say is, you gotta read it to believe it ;)

Jerald has already proven she has a worthy place in the literary world, in my opinion. But Ripple Effect has cemented the fact that she is an author to sit up and take notice of. Her writing style and stories are unique and highly readable.

Highly recommended!

Wow. This story really grabs you immediately. I appreciated the main characters and the fact that the secondary characters played a pivotal role in the progression of the story. The H and h fell in love...twice. The first time, it was almost dysfunctional on both parts. He withheld vital information from the h in a failing attempt to protect her...which she saw as a betrayal due to his lies. Her love blinded her to aggressively seeking additional information from her husband (yup, head in the sand).

Following a tragic event, both realized that their marriage could not survive as it was and sought to re-establish lines of honest communication. The journey was difficult and emotionally harrowing but did result in a healthy, honest foundation for their marriage.

Having been in the military, I can appreciate how many individuals would think harshly about the behavior of the H. In reality, he made a series of bad choices. He attempted to keep the 2 sides of his reality separate....impossible and disastrous when he had permission to be honest.

Highly recommend.

I just wish my words could give this book the proper justification and accolades. The words were so intense. Each page I read the words pulled me in and embedded in my heart & soul 🥰. Calhoun “Cal” Sullivan and Elizabeth “Libby” (Akin) Sullivan’s journey through life will pull at your heartstrings. My love for these characters goes beyond their story. I have read many books written by author Tracey Gerald and have been feel in love with every book. This particular book not only had my emotions on a roller coaster ride but gave insight on how a break down in communication can effect a marriage. Growing up, Cal and Libby’s upbringing were completely opposite. Libby’s family are close, wealthy, great memories and a lot of love. Cal’s childhood memories had limited love, poor and memories he wish he could forget. When Cal met Libby in college, when was instructor and working for a company called Alliance. Libby’s smile alone made him want to smile again and have hope for companionship. While in college Cal started to recruit (a soon to be friend and Libby’s cousin)Sam for Alliance. Libby’s roommate, Iris has a major “secret” crush on Sam and soon they all began to hang out together. Cal and Libby’s relationship was a work in progress but once they had that first taste of each other, the world 🌎 tilted on its axis! Their love making was explosive! As life would have it, the “ripple effect” of one major secret will put their relationship to the test. I’m telling you this may have been my “new” favorite book written by Tracey Gerald. IT WAS SO GOOD!!! Congratulations on another amazing book!

I don't know if I am quite ready to put my thoughts down for the book I just read....no, experienced. This book is an experience that everyone must read. There isn't a thing about it I would want to be different. I'm just in awe. Every thought, feeling and word poured out on the pages is so raw and real, delivered fluidly and well spoken. In this story, we experience the life and relationship of Elizabeth (Libby) and Calhoun(Cal). How they meet, what they endure and how they find their HEA. Everyone can write a cute romance book, but sometimes we need something that has so reality to it, some depth to show us its not as easy to get to that HEA as some would think. Which is exactly what we get with this. A perfect example of how what life throws at us can cloud our minds into thinking a decision we think is best for someone could turn out to be their ruin. How sometimes the strength of love may not be enough to pull someone up from under the water. How one choice, one small decision can change your course so dramatically, you wonder if you will ever be the same. Is the magnitude of your connection with someone great enough to heal the wounds they inflict? Again I absolutely loved every minute of this story and it is a must read!

OMG talk about all the feels from this book!! But honestly having read all of this author’s books now, I am not surprised. In Ripple Effect we have the amazing characters, a storyline that completely draws you in, emotions going all over the place and ultimately the beautiful love story. But even with all this, Cal and Libby’s story was so different. I am usually not a fan of the flashbacks or back in forth in time, but with this one, it brought so much to their story. I won’t go much into their journey, I don’t want to spoil it, but just know that a lot happens in Cal and Libby’s lives. Right from the very beginning I knew it was going to be amazing, I was preparing for some angst (because she does this so well!) but I knew it was going to be okay in the end. Don’t get me wrong, there were few times decisions made by the main characters had me wanting to throw my kindle across the room, but reading their journey and witnessing the deep love these two felt for each other, it was going to be worth it. A definite 5-star read!

Tracey Jerald, how I love thee!! Ripple Effect is Tracey’s latest Standalone. I was unsure how to feel about a world without the Amaryllis series but in her second release since Amaryllis, Tracey has proved, once again, that there is life outside of that world. How do I find the words, I mean really how do I find the words after reading The End on this amazing book by Tracey Jerald.

Gobsmacked.
Epic.
Hearbreaking.
Soul crushing.

I dont know how to come back from this.

Tracey you have blown me away. You have torn my heart out, crushed it to smithereens and wrecked my soul. I am left with an emotional hangover. Ripple effect is bloody brilliant.

You really need to get your hands on this amazing, amazing book. Cal and Libby... you will ache for them, you will cry for them, you will scream with them and you will love them so so much.

Ripple Effect has affected me in every way and is worth a universe of stars.

Cal & Libby
I have no words that could explain the journey that this book took me on. Libby and Cal tell their story bit by bit taking the reader on a roller coaster of emotional memories. Love, lies, joy, pain and healing all play a role in this book that everyone must read for themselves.

This book of Tracey Jerald is a must-read especially for couples who lack time and trust with each other despite of undeniable love they have with each other. Cal might be a hatesome character knowing how he fucked up his marriage with Libby through lies and lack of time but I can't argue that he deserves second chance which I normally don't approve without heavy reasons. He truly loves Libby. His mistake was that he just didn't trust her enough to tell the truth he's been keeping for years which creates a ripple effect on their marriage. I'm just glad Libby is a smart woman, has a strong character and a genuine love which saves the marriage.

Speechless

Tracey Jerald has not only knocked this one out of the park...she knocked it out of the universe! Ripple Effect held me hostage from the first page to the very last. Cal and Libby’s story is not for the faint of heart. If you can read through your tears during those heart wrenching, soul shattering moments...you will find an incredibly beautiful, intoxicatingly amazing love story. I would give this unlimited 🌟 if possible. It’s just that incredible❤️

I really want to be clear on this review without giving spoilers away, but normally I always think the fabulous Tracey Jerald's stories are perfect but Ripple Effect, not so much. It's not because of her writing per se, in fact it's her writing that allowed for 4 stars since it certainly kept me reading, though I wasn't fond of the hero (he's such a lacking douchebag "man") & the heroine, kind of a doormat. Cal has been lying to the woman he supposedly loves, Libby, and I believe that's a freaking lie about him loving anyone but him. First of all, he implied that he fell in love with her from the jump, and then was constantly picking up women to hook up in front of her. First red flag. The lying about what he does, 2nd red flag. He's been so secretive that Libby is getting very suspicious (though it took too long in my opinion) and ready to divorce him. And STILL Cal can't get his crap together to make me happy. It's caused a ton of drama in Libby's life with her friends & family, not to mention her own health & wellness. And frankly, she gave forgiveness for any of his shortcomings (and there were too many to count) too freaking soon for my liking. If some of these things were changed, it would be perfection as Ms. Jerald definitely knows how to keep me engrossed especially when I was praying that something would change drastically, but in this instance, my rage is next level & still ever present. Don't take my word for it though, hit that one click button because one person's rage is another's angst filled goodness so who the hell knows?! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

It's no secret that I love love love Tracey's writing. And her as an amazing person in general. I have to admit that I was nervous about this story. There aren't a lot of romances out there where an already married couple is the focus. Reading the book made me think about my own marriage and the times that we haven't communicated the best or at all and how we overcame that. At first I had a hard time with the story. It's raw and emotional and so realistic that it was almost too much to read. But that's part of the point. Sometimes books make us examine our own lives and think what if, how would I have handled this. And Tracey always writes about real life situations and doesn't always cover up the hard side of love/relationships.

Cal and Libby's journey to their happily ever after is not an easy one. I found myself wanting to reach into my Kindle and strangle both of them (more Cal). That's almost always a good sign when it comes to books. I was feeling their emotions along with them, another good sign. I will admit that during the climax of the story, which was a little more violent than I'm used to in Tracey's books, I had a pit in my stomach the entire time even though I was pretty sure of the outcome. At least I didn't hurl the Kindle across the room.

As always, Tracey writes a story that runs you through a roller coaster of emotions. After all, it's part of why I love her stories so much. Ripple Effect comes out tomorrow, February 3. Don't miss it. And maybe have some tissues and blankets nearby for comfort. I'm just sayin'.

I received an advance copy of this book as a member of her ARC team. Many many thanks to Tracey and Linda for the opportunity.

There are those authors you know are going to take you on a journey far away from your life. They do it so well that you forget everything else and just bask in the book and it's characters. You feel every prick to the heart. Every lie is a personal affront. Every pain is felt in your core. This author fits into that category. While this time she does give us some of the details of what goes on behind close doors she doesn't over do it. The book sends us back and forth in time as we discover the love and troubles of Libby and Cal. Their story is one based on lies and half truths that end up being the factor that almost destroys them. The ripples causing them to drift to and fro, further and further away from their starting point, each other. They will both find solace but will that solace help them or will they have to let go.
This isn't just a love story, just a romance, of course if it was it wouldn't be written by this author. As she takes you back in time to share how they got to where they are you will float on their ripples, drown in their waves, be swept away on their tsunami. If you thought the Amaryllis Series was a one up for this author you will be pleased to know she just gets better with time. As in that series she will make you feel every emotion, every tear, every thrill, every disappointment. She will share their healing with words and actions that may reach beyond the book and into your heart. She will take you to a place where you will ride the ripples and let them lead you to the place where your heart belongs in this standalone read.

My goodness, I am flabbergasted and so overwhelmed with such emotion, that I know I can not put into words how profound Ripple Effect is. Ripple Effect is unlike ANY thing I have ever read before, and the journey that this author took me on is one I am seriously trying to fathom. I knew before I started Ripple Effect that this book was going to wreck me, and my assumptions were correct. The way that Tracey Jerald wrote Cal and Libby's story from the back and fourth, and past and present was done with such grace and perfection. This author took the liberty of showcasing 'great world building' with so much depth and emotion, to navigating a work life with the family life, to the ups and downs, and the in betweens. This story has some serious angst, but the way this author developed the plots and subplots, made Cal and Libby's story even more heart felt and relatable, Just when I couldn't even fathom the thought of something, this author made me not only think about it, but made me feel like it was my life that I was living. So needless to say I am still reeling with emotions.

Cal and Libby are a force to be reckoned with. They have a love that can not be described, a love that could stand still with the test of time. They are the epitome of what I can only pray to God my marriage is. They compliment each other so well, I can not picture one without the other. So without further ado, I present to you 2020's Most Inspirational Book!

*I recommend this book!

This was a different type of story. Being my first by this author I wasn’t sure what to expect but I did like it. Told from past and present the author was able to weave a tale that had me wondering how the characters got from the past to the present. I loved Libby. She was strong even when she showed her weaknesses. I liked the secondary characters and who they were to our main leads. The overall story pulled me in right from the start and o found my self thinking about it when I had to deal with the real world. I really enjoyed the character interactions, the passion that these two had for each other and just the awesome story this author crafted. I plan to go and read more from this author when I get some free time. 4 stars #2OCCJD

When I saw that this book went from past to present I was hoping that I wasn't going to get lost and end up not finishing this book. Boy was I totally wrong. It was done in such a way that left me breathless and took me on a journey that I soon wouldn't forget.

So I really need to sit down and think for a bit so I can write a review that is worthy of this book. Ripple Effect is a unique story that gives you all of the feels, including a healthy dose of angst. The characters, Libby and Cal, are both strong and have depth. I am always a little leery of stories that go back and forth between the past and the present because I am worried that I might get lost. But, Tracey Jerald did this flawlessly. It flowed very easily and I was able to follow it without any trouble. I absolutely love her writing style and could easily read her stories all day long, every day. Ripple Effect was a beautifully written book and I absolutely loved it.

A love/marriage based on lies and betrayals..
How could a wife didn't understand who her husband worked for? Why her husband didn't want to tell her the truth? in order to protect her?
Not just only the husband, her cousin and "best friend" also kept secrets..
If I were Libby, I won't forgive Cal, Iris or Sam.. Libby was so pathetic! Based on her family background, I would rather she became a independent businesswoman and started her new life without Cal...
I felt frustrated after reading this book..it's not about the writing, but the story..ew!
