DON’T GAME ME (The Game Lords Book 2) by Zoe Forward is the second romantic suspense in The Game Lords series. I have been anxiously waiting to see what Symphis would do next to try to destroy NJ Legacy and its owners and I was not disappointed. The characters are all involved in the world of video gaming, creating and programming video games and I am not, but the romance and suspense plot are the focus of the story and kept me intrigued and turning the pages.
Becca Harrison is a brilliant programmer. She took a job in California to separate herself from her brother, Noah and his best friend, Jake who created NJ Legacy together and made it one of the premier gaming companies. When Becca becomes involved with an illegal gaming consortium, they blackmail her into using her new spy program to steal financial information from her brother’s company.
Becca is to return home to attend Noah and Tori’s wedding and Symphis has demanded she do anything necessary to get close to her brother’s business partner, Jake to get the financial information she needs to destroy NJ Legacy. Becca has always secretly wanted Jake, but if she does what Symphis wants she knows she will only have one night with Jake.
Jake Allen has a reputation. He is a rich, brilliant businessman, but he only does one-night stands with beautiful women. When Becca returns home and asks Jake to be her wedding hook-up, he does not know what to do. He has secretly always wanted Becca, but he has been afraid of his past and of losing his best friend and the rest of the Harrison family if he crossed the line with Becca.
Becca and Jake have an attraction that neither can ignore, but Becca’s plans to protect her family leave no room for a future with Jake.
I enjoyed this second story in the series as much as the first. I felt the threat level was heightened even more in this book and the surprise twist involving Symphis in the end made me even more anxious for the next book in the series. Becca and Jake’s romance is hot and intense as they learn to trust in each other and reveal their secrets and fears. The sex scenes were explicit and yet tender as Jake was especially responsive to Becca’s insecurities. I did feel a bit irritated at times when Becca held too much back from Jake (and the reader) in regards to her actual actions and plans with the NSA and FBI and they were only revealed after the fact. It was great to reconnect with the characters from book 1 and it is best to read the books in order to follow the overall story arc that ties them all together.
Overall, this is another fast-paced, suspense filled romance in The Game Lords series and I will be waiting to see if Michael is the next Harrison pulled into Symphis’ nefarious plan.
Don’t Game Me by Zoe Forward is the 2nd book in her Game Lords series. Having read the first book, I looked forward to reading this one, and I am happy to say that once again I enjoyed this 2nd book of the series.
Becca Harrison is our heroine, and sister to Noah Harrison (last book hero). Becca is in trouble, as she is deeply involved with the same illegal eGaming group that threatened Tori (her friend, Noah’s fiancee, and 1st book heroine). Though Tori is now free, Becca is being forced to steal financial information from her brother’s company, and she is desperate to save her family, even at the cost of running away forever. But Becca needs to keep one step ahead of the mysterious and evil Symphis, who is the leader of the gamelords, and threatens her life.
Jake Allen is our hero, and Noah’s partner in their own gaming company. Jake has a reputation of being a womanizer, though he never stays more than a couple of times with the same woman. When Becca and Jake run into each other, as best man & maid of honor, for Tori and Noah’s wedding, she tries to convince Jake to be her date. At first, he doesn’t want to be too much near her, as he has always found her attractive, but eventually they will be pushed together for the event. He doesn’t know that Becca, has another ulterior motive, to copy from Jake’s computer, financial information that Symphis wants.
In a short time, both Jake and Becca find their attraction to each other impossible to ignore, and the chemistry between them is scorching hot. Jake knows he wants Becca, but is afraid to ruin the relationship he has with the entire Harrison family, and he doesn’t trust he is the right person for her. Becca finds herself falling hard for Jake, but knows there could be no future, as she plans to protect them (give false information), and go on the run from Symphis.
What follows is an exciting, suspenseful and fun story. I am amazed how well Zoe Forward continues to describe the gaming industry, giving us a wonderful insight to that industry. I especially loved Jake and Becca together. It was great to see many of the characters from the first book again, especially Noah, Michael, Tori, Emma, Quan, just to name a few. The second half of the book upped the tension, with the excitement escalated as Becca was in the middle of the desperate action, with Jake and Noah, plus others did everything they could to find her and help her from a dangerous adversary.
Don’t Game Me was a fast-paced, fun enjoyable story; wonderful couple, great secondary characters, as well as filled with excitement and suspense. If you have not started this series, I suggest you read Off Her Game before you read Don’t Game Me.
Thank you Inkslinger for an advanced copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
Don't Game Me The Game Lords #2 By: Zoe Forward
*REVIEW* 🌟🌟🌟🌟 In Don't Game Me, Rebecca Harrison has done something stupid, as we all do from time to time. Her bad decision, to be involved with the egaming company in the first place, has now placed Rebecca in a precarious situation. In order to pay her debt and be free, she must steal valuable information from her brother's company. How to do this? Use his best friend, Jake, whom Rebecca has secretly had the hots for for years. Rebecca uses the opportunity of her brother's wedding to accomplish her task. Nothing ever goes to plan, though, and Rebecca and Jake end up in unexpected places. Steamy hot! Rebecca is in serious trouble, but she doesn't want to ask for help. Jake wants Rebecca, but he doesn't want to risk hurting her and losing his relationship with her family. Will Rebecca succeed? Can Jake help Rebecca without hurting her? Will these two form a serious relationship? This story is hot sexy action with surprise twists. I enjoyed the characters of Rebecca and Jake. They had a solid dynamic built upon respect and, ultimately, love. The tidbits of information about the gaming industry were intriguing. I found the story engrossing and unpredictable with thrills and humor in perfect amounts. This author is new to me, and I plan to go back and read the first book now. Overall, Don't Game Me is a complex spicy story of secrets and betrayal with a dose of romance for all the love addicts. I'm definitely a fan and highly recommend adding this book to your tbr asap!
This is the second book in the Game Lords Series and is very intense. I enjoyed reuniting with so many characters from the first book. Full of fast-action and suspense. Becca was finishing college and a gaming wizard. She found herself pulled into the world of organized crime and being forced to gather information from her brother's gaming company. The same group had murdered her other brother and her associate. They insisted that she get close to Jake, her brothers partner in an effort to gain secrets. Lots of danger and drama as she tries to find a way out. The chemistry between Becca and Jake is explosive but he feels that she is taboo since he's her brother's best friend and an honorary member of her family. Lots of suspense as Becca rescues with a way to save herself and not harm her brother's company. This was a great book that was hard to put down once I began reading it. I read an arc via Hidden Gems and voluntarily chose to review.
I received a free ARC of this novel via Hidden Gems in exchange for an honest review. My opinion is my own.
This is the first book that I have read by Ms Forward. This is the second book in a series that is labeled as a standalone. The plot is solid and the author does a decent job of giving enough back story so that I never felt lost. I do think the story would have been a tad bit better if I had read the previous one beforehand. The characters were decent and I loved their interactions with each other. I will definitely keep an eye out for more by this author.
Don’t Game Me is the story of Becca Harrison, she gets involved with some seedy characters that are blackmailing her to obtain information about her brother’s company, NJ Legacy. NJ Legacy is owned by her older brother and his best friend, Jake. She is in town for her brother’s wedding but is tasked with getting close to Jake to obtain information about their company but getting close to her long time crush creates problems in itself.
Written by Zoe Forward, this is the second book in the Game Lords series. Don’t let the fact that this is book two deter you, this can be read as a stand alone and be enjoyable. Zoe is a seasoned writer and this novel showcases her talents.
The main theme of this book is video games and the gaming industry, a theme that quite frankly I am totally not interested in. I’m nerdy but gaming is not my thing. I decided to just keep reading before I made any snap judgements. Thank goodness that I did! I really enjoyed this story, Becca and Jake were wonderful to get to know. The supporting characters really added to the story and propelled it in a direction that made sense.
This story is told from Becca and Jake’s perspective, both have been attracted to each other since they met but they mask their attraction by picking fights with one another. As the reader, I love getting to hear both perspectives on different events and how they are feeling towards each other, especially in tense situations.
This story had a really nice flow and plot, it didn’t have unnecessary random sex scenes where they didn’t make sense and it didn’t feel thrown together at the last minute. This book had kind of a movie vibe surrounding it with elements of action and suspense. Becca’s conflict on whether to steal information from her brother’s company and trying to leave the gaming underworld is the driving force behind the story. However, with Jake in the mix everything Becca knows becomes jumbled.
Jake had a rough upbringing and he was not prepared for Becca coming home and showing some interest in him. He is forced to confront lots of feelings and insecurities that he thought he buried long ago but Becca awakens parts of him that he has never had to deal with. He resists his feelings for so long that it made me want to just shake him and yell “What are you thinking!?” But in all fairness, have faith in the man.
The only disappointing part of this book for me was that there wasn’t total closure! There are still questions and I don’t want to have to wait for answers. It wasn’t a complete cliffhanger but it wasn’t enough closure to leave me totally satisfied. I also really love epilogues and glimpses into the future but this book didn’t have that so now it’s time to play the waiting game so hopefully I can get some of my questions answered!

Don't Game Me is the second book in the Game Lords Series. I loved Book 1 and anxiously awaited Jake's story. Jake is Noah Harrison't business partner at NJ gaming. He is known for his one night stands and being a playboy. He won't let anyone close because he is afraid he will be like his dad, and he does not want that. The Harrison family is the closest thing to a family he has ever had, which makes the feelings he has had for Becca since he met her when she was still illegal, very disturbing to him. He does not want to lose Noah or who he thinks of as his family. Becca has loved Jake almost as long as she has known him, so when they are together they usually fight. That relays over to sparks flying between them when Becca flies home for Noah's wedding. However, she has a secret and is supposed to steal financial data from Noah and Jake's company so she can pay her debt in an underground gaming world and to Symphis. Tori got away from Symphis in Book 1, This book has angst, suspense, romance, hot steamy sex scenes, mystery, and great characters. Will Jake and Becca give in to their feelings for each other? Will Jake be able to give her more than one ok two nights? Will Becca get caught stealing NJ Gaming financial information? This book was every bit as good as book 1, and while I thought some things were getting answered, in the end, I believe I have even more questions about Symphis and this underground gaming thing than I did after book 1. I thought Noah was a hottie and made a great book boyfriend, but let me tell you, Jake is definitely giving him a run. Not sure of Book 3 will be about Michael, or someone else, but I am now going to be anxiously awaiting the arrival of the next in this series to hopefully get more questions answered. If you like romance and some suspense you should pick this book up, I don't think you will be disappointed. If you are the above and a gamer, you may like and understand it even more than me, since I am not a gamer. Another great read Zoe Forward, and I look forward to many more books by you.
I bought this book quite a while ago, and it was purely because the book had a lot to do with gaming and nerdy characters. In that regard I was not disappointed at all. This book is also a brothers best friend book, which is so one of favorite tropes. I also like the suspense/betrayal element that is in the book. So Becca is wrapped up in an illegal underground gaming situation (think organized crime with a nerd flair). Her brother was also wrapped in it and ended up being murdered. So from the beginning you are aware that the stakes are high for her. So when she is blackmailed into stealing information from her brothers company she is in a rock and a hard place. I really felt for her during this book, there are so many family dynamics going on her and it’s all intense. She’s also trying not to hurt anyone in her family, while also trying to basically stay alive. Add in her attraction to Jake, her brothers best friend and business partner and you have a ton of angst built in. I definitely liked Becca. As for Jake, I liked him less than Becca but he was still very likable. You of course have the whole “we shouldn’t do this because of your brother” thing going on, but Jake’s past also means he has some serious hang ups about the idea of having feelings for anyone. Most of my issues from this book came from the mystery/suspense plot going on. I was good with it for most of the book. I liked the tech details and the corporate kind of espionage elements. But towards the end when everything came to a head, everything moved really fast and I don’t really feel like all the questions that needed to be answered were answered, I think I might have more questions than answers. I understand that there will be another book that continues this plot line, but I do feel like there some have been more answers than we ended up getting. But I did like it. I’m really all for anything with gaming/computers/nerd culture.
Zoe Forward, ‘Don’t Game Me’, The Game Lords, book 2.
As a Hidden Gem ARC reader I received this book for free. And promised an honest review. Here it is. English isn’t my first language. Sorry for errors.
Rating: 4 stars (of 5).
In general: Complications within family of computer geniuses.
Leading character: - Rebecca (Becca) Harrison. Brilliant intern at a computer company working for the Government. Her boss, Pascal, tricked her in designing a program to steal military information. And sold this info to China. Pascal secretly works for eGaming, a powerful criminal organization playing in an illegal gaming circuit. The same organization that murdered Rebecca’s brother and now also blackmails Rebecca to play in this illegal gaming circuit.
- Jake Allen. A computer genius too. He started a very successful video game company with Rebecca’s brother Noah a few years ago. They got very wealthy. And Jake became almost a part of her family. He had a reputation of an one-night-stand aficionado. Rebecca hates that and they quarreled a lot about it.
Pascal manipulates Becca and Jake to date at the marriage of Noah with Tori, an ex hacker and illegal gamer who - with Noah’s help - escaped the criminal gaming organization, that now has Becca in its grip. The author, Zoe Forward, describes how Becca and Jake develop from enemies to lovers, while she struggles to free herself from Pascal’s company and tries to bring down eGaming, the dangerous, fraudulent gaming organization. It results in an enthralling, sometimes - for me - a bit too technical story with some wonderful characters, interesting dialogues and exciting action scenes. So, after learning about Tori’s escape in book 1, this book 2 of the Game Lords series was for this reader a nice, renewed introduction in the author’s writing.
I feel like I’ve been impatiently waiting for the continuation of this series forever, and it’s finally here! In this book we get up close and personal with Jake the grump. But that curmudgeonly personality is only a mask he uses to protect himself from repeating his parents’ mistakes. He’s deeply devoted to the Harrison family and will do anything to protect those relationships. Jake has been the gold standard Becca’s judged all dates against; her brother’s best friend and focus of her youthful infatuation. Now she’s caught in a trap and using Jake’s loyalty to her and her family may be the only way for her to escape it. I loved Becca’s snark and her refusal to dumb down her brilliance. I wasn’t as big a fan of her insistence that none of her “family” could help her with her situation, but I get the feeling that the author is leading us someplace in particular with this. These two are almost too much like each other and that causes fireworks in their every encounter. I loved witnessing their banter. Both are big personalities, and neither was very good at giving in. There are breadcrumbs here leading to more secrets and I’m dying to get my hands on the next book to learn them. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through Hidden Gems Books.
I was eagerly awaiting this book as I really enjoyed book 1. The suspense, heat & chemistry are on point here, making this book a good read for me.
The hero & heroine have known each other for years - and there is a latent attraction simmering between them. The suspense added a really good layer to the overall story arc, ensuring its status as a page-turner.
I like the clearer, deeper look we get into Jake's personality. He came off as a really grumpy, stuffed shirt in book 1, but we realise quickly that it's just a protective veneer. Becca is a bright, think-quickly-on-her-feet sort of person. Yes, she's made mistakes, but she has every intention of making sure she atones and fixes the situation so that everyone else remains relatively unscathed in the end. You have to admire her tenacity (aka stubbornness) and boldness.
I really have enjoyed this series so far, and can't wait to see in which direction the next book takes us. If you haven't started reading this series yet, one-click today!
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.
This is the story of Becca and Jake. These two have some hot chemistry but always get in to a fight or some kind of argument. Becca is a smart gamer that got pulled into a job by being blackmailed but the head guy. She’s in her home town getting ready for her brothers wedding to another gamer who got out but is always threatened. She’s needs to get information and send it to the main person. The thing is it’s her brothers and Jakes business and it will kill her to go against her brothers trust to try to get out of a situation that can possibly hurt or kill her, but she wants to save her family and Jake. Jake is a one nighter all the time but after Christmas he is changing his ways. The one he wants is Becca, but the Secret that Becca is holding onto could cause a lot of damage and she knows she can trust Jake but doesn’t want to put him in a place that Harm could happen. What a great book!! I have a lot more questions but hoping for another book will be coming.
I wasn't sure what to expect other than a brother's best friend style romance, but this met and surpassed my expectations. I was interested from the very beginning and pulled in deeper and deeper the further in to the story I got. It was amazingly written and I loved that while it was romance there was more to the story than just the romance plot line. The mystery of who Symphis is not 100% revealed in this as it is a delicately balanced situation of is this the right perp or is it a deeper conspiracy. It is the second book of a series, but can be read as a standalone with a different couple in each book and is set up nicely that you don't feel like you're missing a huge chunk of the story. Personally I bought the first book as soon as I finished this and plan to keep an eye out for the next one (hopefully will be Micheal's).
I received a free copy of this book via Hidden Gems Books and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book is action packed and full of tension!! Tensions are already high with Noah and Tori's wedding happening but add in Becca's issues and you have a roller coaster of a book! Becca has gotten herself into a pickle and need out of the gaming world. She has to do the ultimate betrayal to her brother and his gorgeous best friend/business partner but can't get himself to do it. She wants out but is it worth it? Her and Jake are attractive to each other just haven't acted on it yet... Noah is big issue but soon it becomes impossible for them to stay away from each other..Becca does what she thinks is the right thing but it soon has her on the run and scared for her life. Noah and Jake have to do what they can to protect and save her. If you are super nerdy and into video games references then you will truly love this book.
So I have more answers, but also more questions after Becca and Jake’s book. Deception is the name of the game, and this author plays it very well!
Becca and Jake have been attracted to each other for what feels like forever, but Jake isn’t about to go there with his best friend’s sister. Of course, Becca is persistent, and not just because she’s trapped with only one possible way out. These two fought their attraction, gave into it, and then everything blew up in their faces. We’re taken on a fast-paced adventure to figure out who and what is behind the Stadiums and dirty games, but just when I thought I had the answer, it all changed again. Now I have to wait for the next book to see if my guesses are right this time around.
I was provided a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I feel like I should of read book 1 to properly enjoy this story so it took me a while to get into and I didn't feel like I was properly I produced to all the characters but that's probably because this is a continuation and that was all done in book 1..
Once I got into the story I really enjoyed the mystery factor of who becca worked for and how she was going to get out the situation she was in.
I liked the chemistry between becca and jack.. I always love a enemies to lovers romance but wish there was a bit more enemy part to the storyline.
Overall i enjoyed the story and liked the banter between the characters. I look forward to reading more of Zoe forwards work
Romance and intrigue I loved this 2nd book in the Game Lord's series! Although it says it can be read as a standalone, I felt that having read the 1st book was a real advantage and added to the continued mystery and intrigue as to who Symphis is. I was kept guessing right till the end and whilst I wanted a resolution, I am glad that there seems to be more books to come in the series as I'd love to read more by this talented author. I could really feel the emotions and chemistry between the main characters despite sometimes getting frustrated with them. I am just glad that they eventually sorted their relationship out and will hopefully manage a HEA! I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book is the second in this series introduces Becca Harrison, Noah’s sister. She has gotten tangled in the Symphis mess and is being forced to get close to Noah’s business partner, Jake, at Noah’s wedding in order to get into the business mainframe and steal some info. Becca and Jake have had a love/hate relationship since they met years ago and sparks fly when they are near. This book has a over planned wedding, an interfering mother and brothers, FBI, NSA, Comic Con craziness, and hot steamy sexy scenes.
I loved this book. I also loved the first book, Off Her Game, and I look forward to reading more from this series. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Jake and Becca, their emotions and feelings for each other were great and complicated. I love where the book led and hopefully as more of this series comes out, we will see more of these characters and how their relationships work out.
I received this book for free from Hidden Gems, and I cannot thank the author enough for giving me the opportunity to read the second installment in her Game Lords series.
I loved the first book to this series so I was so excited to be able to read the second book but sad to see another Harrison is caught up in the illegal gaming. Becca is trying to not fall for Jake her brothers best friend but finding out trying to do as she is told is harder than she thought when now she is around Jake for so long. This book keeps you on your toes just like the first one. The danger is still there and to get out will be just as risky and the mystery of not knowing the whole time is such a great thing and the author did a great job on keeping you reading to find out.
It is no secret I love an angsty forbidden love story. There is just something about them that makes my heart go crazy for. This book is just another one that will be added to my ever-growing list of books I enjoyed. This story held my attention all the way through. Jake and Becca were fire. They both were strong characters that only seemed to collide with each other. Neither of them liked to give in but they have to or lose the thing they both long for, each other.
3.5 stars This is the first by this author I have read and even though the story line seemed to flow well and the characters were interesting, I just had a really hard time reading this book. It was too slow paced for me and it seemed like it jumped around too much. Maybe I will have to give it another chance on a different day, but today it just wasn't doing anything for me.
I don't know what it is about this this story, but I find it absolutely captivating! I had a hard time putting it down once I started reading it. The elusive symphis, bad guy/girl extraordinaire, really takes evil to a new level. However, during the caios, there is a wedding and a hot new romance happening.
I was so disappointed the book ended. I can hardly wait to see how this story ends.
From the moment Jake and Becca run into each other at the airport, you know sparks of confusion will fly. Becca is trying to get out from under her bosses thumb. But in order to do that she has to obtain information that could hurt her brother and the man that she is secretly attracted to. Just how far will Becca go to achieve her freedom, well you will need to read the book.
WOW!! DON'T GAME ME by Zoe Forward was Absolutely Suspenseful and Surprisingly fast action packed. This is the Second Book of the The Game Lords series and never a Dull moment page after page. Becca and Jake's storytelling had so much Adventure and Passion that the Sexual chemistry between the two characters are Off the Charts Hot! CANNOT WAIT TO read more from this Series!!
A crazy twisting, drama fulfilled story with heaps of steamy scenes. Becca and Jake go from enemies to lovers, but only for one night. Ok, maybe two. Becca is running and Jake is caught up in the mix. He wants to protect her, but Becca does not want to put him or her family in danger. Loved the twists and how this story all played out. Highly recommend!!
Great read!! Lots of hot romance and a really great story. I didn’t read the first book so I had a little background info to catch up on. I think the first book would enrich the reading of this one but isn’t necessarily required.
While I liked the first book in the series, I enjoyed this one much more. I loved the characters and all of the plot twists. I can't wait to the read the next one! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Symphis is at it again messing with lives. Becca is put in a hard place. As the story develops we have a lot of secrets and suspense. Her and Jake have been fighting their attraction for a while and we see it grow. Overall a good, easy read. Liked the twists and turns.
This book was a great read. It had me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. I loved the main characters and I could literally feel the strong chemistry between them. This author definitely did not disappoint. Definitely recommended.
