Nosy, undisciplined humans aren't high on his list. Not until a brilliant, beautiful doctor sets all his senses on fire.

Living with his brother Rokul and his human mate Tella was quite enough for Takar.

A life in the military taught him to be controlled. Restrained.

Rules were there for a reason, even if the humans never seemed to understand.

But when a curious human woman bursts into his duty station, he can't get escape his thoughts of her.

And when she plunges into danger, he'll ignore his own rules to keep his mate safe.

Scientist Daphne is terrible with mysteries. She wants to know everything about, well, everything.

The world is filled with questions, and she wants the answers.

When Takar is sent to retrieve her from a slightly unauthorized research trip, she's beyond annoyed.

But when they're trapped in the tunnels, she realizes she has just as many questions about the gruff Skotan warrior.

Who is he, really? How does his touch send heat through her belly? And why does she want to run her hands across his broad chest...and more?

Takar is the eleventh book in the Conquered World science fiction romance series.
Each book features the romance of a new couple, with alpha male alien warriors and women who don't put up with their nonsense. No cheating, no cliffhangers, HEA guaranteed!

Some answers

Finally! Glad author answered some I had and were frustrated by.
Still a few questions about humans that her mate brought up. Why they are not as tech advanced when they have hover crafts. Some I had were medical. Since she in a neurologist. No way they would not already know about the brains pathways, etc.
Did enjoy the glimpse into the couples future, okay with their quick hooking up and falling in “love”.
Felt like the complaint duty was an opportunity for humor and further dialogue, understanding of species. Did not understand why former upstart head did not appoint one human and other species for duty.

I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.

3.5 stars

I thought Daphne was supposed to come across as a smart woman, but she ended up seeming naive and self-absorbed. She wanted her way and didn't give any thought to the consequences of her actions, both for herself and for others. For a woman that is supposed to be a brilliant scientist, she had no sense of cause and effect. I also found her "evidence" more than a little lacking that the Puppet Master was intelligent, most of it seemed like things that my pet would be able to accomplish. I think by the end of the story she has come to realize at least a bit that her impulsive actions could have had drastic and catastrophic consequences, but she still is not one of my favorite heroines from this series. Takar was an okay character, it was nice to see him get his HEA, but I can't say as though he was more than an okay character. I do like that the Puppet Master story has an interesting turn in this story, but the story itself was just okay.

Our h could be Annie's sister. For she's just as fearless and smart and inquisitive as Annie.
I met Takar in his brothers story and I love his dry humour and quick wit. He is so practical and matter of fact logical and it only added to his charm.
Once I got to know Daphne I just loved her quirky antics and little quips.
For a little while it was tit for tat as the 2 grew closer together and I ventured further into the plot.
Elin does a wonderful job pairing her H and h's, they always seem to be yin and yang, chalk and cheese, or black and white. Yet they fall together cleverly into a creative storyline.
In this book, the nemesis from previous books, takes a bit of a turn and more depth to it all is revealed, thanks to our h.
I got the distinct feeling while listening that Daphne was Alice in Wonderland incarnate. The imagination of Elin to portray such a wonderful utopia was truly an adventure to wander through.
Loved this fascinating instalment of this saga. And Takar, for a mysoginistic, endearing alpha, could not have been better suited for this particular adventure, discovering and interacting with the crux of this book.
The book while standalone, has information and characters from previous books but I'm looking forward to what light the PM will shed on instalments to come.
Piers was amazing as usual, his tone and accent to all was just amazing.

Living with his brother Rokul and his human mate Tella was enough interaction with humans for Takar. His life in the military has taught him to be controlled and restrained - something that humans seem to be incapable of. But when a curious human woman bursts into his duty station he can't stop thinking about her, so when she plunges into danger he'll ignore his own rules if it means he can keep her safe. Scientist Daphne wants to know everything about everything - for all the questions in the world she wants answers. When Takar is sent to retrieve her from an unauthorised field trip she is beyond annoyed, but when they are both trapped in tunnels she realises that she has just as many questions about the gruff Skotan warrior. Who is he, why does he send heat through her and why does she want to run her hands across his chest?

I enjoyed this story which had yet another impulsive human woman who drags a Skotan warrior into a situation that then develops into a love that involves a determination to protect each other while still learning more about their environment. I loved the details of the entity controlling the vines all over the planet and the way that they were able to bring together the right people in order to do something about it. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Takar and Daphne

Takar is a Skotan warrior, one who joined the fight against the Xathi to make sure his older brother didn’t get killed.
Daphne is a neuroscientist with an insatiable curiosity for knowledge.
When she learns about the puppet master, she immediately wants to find out more. And when she ends up going into a restricted area, it’s Takar that goes in after her.

This is the eleventh book in the series, the fifth book in the vines story arc, and it’s a great one!
Finally we get some answers about what is behind the vines, we also have another Skotan finding a mate. Lots of issues are, well if not resolved, at least on the path to resolution, and if nothing with the anti-alien groups happens, at least we have some viney solutions.

Whatever you do, don’t read this book before any of the others in the series, it will spoil so much! You must read the series in order, because the ongoing background story is worth it!

Recommended for those who enjoy sci-fi romance with alien heroes and action adventure!

Let me start off by saying that this book has a truly unique plot. In 2000 books, I’ve read in my lifetime, I’ve never read anything like it. Having said that, most of the books did not have a lot of plot development. They happened every few books or so. The couples would meet and fall in love within 2 to 3 days and suddenly they’re all life partners which I find extremely hard to believe and doesn’t allow you to get to know the characters as fully as You could/should. So I hope she works on that. This book set could’ve been so much more than it was. As I previously mentioned, the plot was unique, and I would have loved to see more of it In all of the books. My chapter review is below. Negative means little to no plot development and plus equals plot development. And the plus and minus mean there was a little bit of plot development, but not a lot. Are you confused?

Takar

Takar is a large alien from a force helping the humans with removing the Xathi and with success are now helping clean up. There is a rumoured being they call the puppet master that Daphne questions Takar about but it is a secret. Daphne is tenacious and Takar goes to rescue her.

finally

I am really liking PM 😂. Ok ok Takar and and Daphne are a perfect couple. I have been worried about Takar. He has been taking care of his brother for so long. Finally he has his own life to look forward to. But this story is about the puppet master. He really needs a better name. But dang this is getting good!!!!

Takar: Science Fiction Adventure Romance (Conquered World Book 11) by Elin Wyn
Takar is a Skotan who came to help the human to fight a war that came to the human's planet. Today Takar is working at the help desk which he hates. The human woman Daphne is worried about the fate of her city and she wants answers like The Puppet Master is a plant but has some kind of intelligence and what is happening to all the crops. Takar doesn't give her the answers she wants so she is going to take matters into her own hands. I love this story this book is in Science Fiction Adventure Romance (Conquered World Book 11) but it can be read by itself. I found all the books in this series to be wonderful love stories with a twist and turns in them and I think you would enjoy them all. I received an advanced reader copy from bookfunnel and have voluntarily chosen to leave a review. This is my honest opinion.

4&1\2🌟

I really enjoyed this 11th book in the series. We have finally found out what/who the puppet master is and that he's very much an I intelligent being Who gives life. Daphne is a curious young neuroscientist who ask so many questions I don't know how anyone keeps up! Lol but it's this one young doctors curiosity and willingness to seek answers that will finally help heal the planet in the aftermath of war. Takar, a warrior with the heart and mind of a scientist who is always serious and takes his responsibilities seriously meets his match in Daphne. She brings out his curious side and makes his ask questions and seek answers to them. Together they find so much more that a cure to. possibly dying planet. They find love, passion and a sense of adventure in each other! I really enjoyed this one💖

Daphne is as stubborn as they come and at times infuriating, but that is all just part of her charm and it certainly doesn't keep Takar from being drawn to her. Takar feels a certain protectiveness concerning Daphne, but learns quickly to humor her when she's on a mission. They make a perfect team and balance each other's personalities. She's spontaneous and takes risks and he is careful and follows protocol. While on their quest for more information they find themselves falling for one another.

The entire story from start to finish was so compelling and exciting. A huge discovery was made that could very well change the course of action in taking back the planet and safe guarding it. I can't wait to find out what comes next! I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Great read!

Bubbly, inquisitive, intelligent, spontaneous woman with a zest for life meets brilliant, protective, logical & orderly Skotan. The search for the puppet master comes to it’s conclusion. Takar and Daphne are a great set of characters in the next Conquered World story. Their story is definitely a great read! The puppet master- wow - I like the conclusion to the mystery vines creating havoc, and the explanation of the crops dying. This is one story you should not pass up!

Mysterious and Captivating

The storyline was beautiful written and kept your attention from beginning to end. The mystery of the Muppet Master has been sloved but they still have a long way in healing the planet. Has everything you want in a romance, adventure, drama, prejudice, love, and steamy hot romance with awesome characters? Highly recommended and waiting anxiously for the next book in the series.

Mystery of the Puppet Master

This book answers the question: Who is the Puppet Master?
Daphne is the human female that is full of questions. She leads Takar on a merry chase both in searching for answers and love. Enjoyed the story and the characters. Just a little repetitive at times.
