Big house, smart school, horses, swimming pools - Grace Foster-Bryce's life looks like something out of a glossy magazine. Jay Jones is a grafitti artist living in a cramped high-rise flat on a scruffy London council estate. What could bring these two together?
IM JUST FANGIRLING ABOUT THIS BOOK! HOW CAN IT END THAT WAYYYY! I was just gripped to this book and could not put it down! more people need to read this book because the writing is fantastic and it tackles stereotypes in the class system. The relationship between between Grace and JJ was fantastically written and I fell in love with the characters especially JJ, he has got to be one of my biggest book crushes now.... A MUST READ because you will get gripped into the book straight away and you will not want to put the book down until you have finished it!
I read this book so many years ago, and I haven't read it since then, since I can never find a copy, but it's stayed with me for so long. It's the type of book that when you finish reading it, you just put it down, and stare at the wall for a few minutes as you try to comprehend your emotions. It's a romance novel, but it's touching and beautiful, while at the same time, awkward and clumsy - just like a real teenage romance.
I wasn’t sure what I would think of this book when I picked it up as I didn’t think it would be my type of book. I was probably right and could have left it alone. This is a typical story of a rich girl who loses all her money and with it her whole lifestyle and friends, who turn out to not be friends after all. From the start the main character, Grace, annoyed me. However, she did settle down into her new life fairly quickly and I found myself liking her more once the tantrums were over. In fact she Jay seems to be very good at his art as a graffiti artist and dreams of making it his life’s work. However I just kept thinking that graffiti is illegal and what he is doing is wrong, no matter how good at it he is. But the morals do seems to be a bit dodgy in this story as Grace This book was not to my taste, but I enjoyed it well enough so it receives three stars.
I liked the story, posh family has to move to grotty area, Romeo and Juliet type love affair but the mother was a total snob (and what was with calling her Mums?) JJ stayed behind, Grace didn't make any friends really and at the end they go back to a privileged or semi-privileged life. The whole book just seemed like a bit of a cop-out in the end. Fuelling the idea that class matters and is important. Whatever.
such a powerful book :) it has strong characters and is emotional, the turnaround at the end of the book leaves you feeling heartbroken and you get so carried away you feel as though it is your own story your living. It leaves you not knowing...
The first book I ever cried on. I was heartbroken by the end of this book. I believe in happy endings and this certainly wasn't one. Although I must say it was still a good book. Romantic. Teenage Love.
I read this book back in year 8 or 9 - & it was the first book I properly cried after i read it :3 aww Still remember JJ ... there's always that boy in a book you attach yourself to :')
I have to say this book started amazingly and throughout the book the characters and story line was amazing but the only thing I did not like was the ending, sad and made me cry with heartbreak :(
I remember, this was one of my favourite books, it was 20/10, 100 stars out of everything. The plot of the story was so good, I loved it, It's a typical love story but it's one that is memorable.
