About the author

L. Pichon says that when she was little, she loved to draw, and her mom said she was very good at making a mess (this is still true today). She kept drawing, went to art school, became a designer and art director at Jive Records, and began to publish children’s books. After its publication in the U.K., The Brilliant World of Tom Gates won several prestigious awards, including the Roald Dahl Funny Prize, the Waterstone’s Children’s Book Prize, and the Blue Peter Book Award. L. Pichon lives in Brighton, England, with her family.

I really like reading Tom gates books because you can read them in one go, aren't hard/boring to read and I love the drawings as well! What I was wondering was how Tom has been in the 5F in every book even though the first book was published in 2011? Overall I give it a 5/5

My son (3.5 YO) liked me reading him this. Chapters have a story each that join together. They have lots of little pictures. Interesting enough to keep him engaged. It was his first entry into longer books and he said he liked it.

Amazing 😄😄!

This was a very fun book 📖 to read, there were 10 tremendous tales in this book, also Liz Pichon wrote this book a bit differently than the others, especially the part in witch Delia and Tom become friends (kind of) when they get trapped in a lift. Anyway it was an awesome book and it is the best book I ever read (till now anyway) also I am writing this review a bit differently because Liz Pichon wrote this Tom Gates book differently even I am writing this a bit differently. (Plus my name is Rishi and I am 9 years old)

This book was pretty good! As usual, Tom Gates and his family have trouble doing normal things which is always funny. However, this is not one of the best books in the Tom Gates series and (in my opinion) could have been better. I would recommend this book for anyone from 6-11

I've been trying to get my 6 year old to read independently without much success, until THIS!!

In his words "this is the best book ever". Since the first page he has refused to put it down, and I can hear him giggling to himself in his bedroom.

The book is full of things that made me laugh. In one of the tales they have a parade and one of the characters has to be the main star. Little does he know he is dressed up as apple.He leaves out ice cream and then it melts and it a waste.

This book was Mr 8's introduction to Tom Gates and it was a winner. The humour is on point, and there is a good balance of text and cartoons to sustain early independent readers. Mr 8 is now listening to the audiobooks and borrowing from the library to read more.

Agree with several of the reviewers here that this would be a good book for beginning readers, with the 10 short stories. Compared to all but one of the rest of the series, though, it felt like the author is running out of ideas...but that won't stop me from reading the next ones :)

Awesome book like how theres heaps of different stories. Read most of the other books in the series. The drawings are really good. It is a nice funny story.

This isn’t one of the best Tom Gates books, the stories are a bit disjointed at times and some of the chapters are just a few doodles. It’s still good though, my ten year old daughter enjoyed it.
