I like the art and the story is good but not fantastic. I hope it's going somewhere because if I'm not mistaken I've now read half the series and it's a little ordinary. I mean, there are stuff happening, it's just that nothing is very original so far and I fear it's not going to be at all in the end.

The beginning was quite strange for me because it comes out a bit of the usual in the universe of the story, but all the loose ends are tied as you get to the end of the story. This is not to say that no new questions arise, but there is enough material to keep you immersed in this world of secrets and horror.
The plot is a little slower, building tension on each page to leave you waiting, not to mention the end. Although I felt it a bit rushed, it lays the groundwork for more chapters, but I'm afraid there won't be enough development. There are too many mysteries so far, so it's time for some answers.

MIRKA ANDOLFO’S MERCY #3, available this Wednesday from Image Comics dives into the grand scheme of Lady Hellaine, and the poor town that will soon play part in it all. A haunting tale with daunting and terrifying notes aplenty, this is not one to miss.

The twisted tale continues in Mercy #3. Lady Hellaine is a woman (creature?) with many plans, and they all have to do with Woodsburgh, a town in the middle of nowhere. While her plan may have hit a few snags on the way, there’s plenty of reason to be concerned about the fate of these townspeople.

The Lady has always been accompanied by her keeper, but now she also has a new companion. One who oddly enough believes the wayward woman to be her mother. That is surely not something that was in the plans, though perhaps it will work out in her favor.

One thing is certain, this little town in the middle of nowhere has had its fair share of pain and suffering. In fact, the more we learn of it, the more it seems like the two are directly connected. All that’s left is to put the pieces of the puzzle together.

So far Mercy has been beautifully illustrated but I've had little clue as to what's actually going on. In #3 we finally gain some clarity in regards to the plot. Andolfo's writing is by no means perfect, but that may simply be down to the quality of the translation. Having edited several comics written by non-native English speakers, I know how hard it can be to not only translate the meaning of the words the writer has written, but also the feel...the atmosphere they intended their words to evoke.

Nevertheless, Andolfo has crafted a tale full of interesting and compelling characters, including...and, perhaps, especially...the characters who live by feeding off the brains of normal humans.

Also, the copy I have sports a truly gorgeous cover by Stjepan Šejić, which was worth the cover price alone.

4/5

Mercy #3 went a long way in advancing the plot of this unique series. The monster’s plan may not have been fully revealed, but readers could probably make an educated guess at this point. The sudden addition and revelations at the end of this issue will be enough to get readers coming back for more.

Hidden in plain sight

Hierarchy’s and hidden agendas with rivalries abound. There are so many pathways and players I am intrigued as to which way things will turn. I love that no one truly knows who the monsters are in this tale.

Overwritten and in the end I just don’t care about the monsters or who is hunting them or why. I think this is mostly because the characters aren’t interesting. The orphan is vaguely interesting, but the people in the town are boring and so is much of the dialogue.

Continued beautiful artwork and the story seems to be starting to pick up. Sometimes it can be a bit confusing.

The beautiful victorian fairy tale goes on piece by piece. Still in love with this art and its characters. Excited for the next three issues!

Intriguing

This aliens sort of vampire gang is getting weirder and weirder. I like it. The art is amazing, as well.

As soon as we're somewhere foreign and new, we start to question ourselves. And inevitably... the foreign annihilates us.

Didn't expect a found family trope in this kind of book but that exactly what I needed right now 🥹
